We explore a novel paradigm in learning binary codes for large-scale image retrieval applications. Instead of learning a single globally optimal quantization model as in previous approaches, we encode the database points in a data-specific manner using a bank of quantization models. Each individual database point selects the quantization model that minimizes its individual quantization error. We apply the idea of a bank of quantization models to data-independent and data-driven hashing methods for learning binary codes, obtaining state-of-the-art performance on three benchmark datasets.

In this paper we propose a unified framework to address multiple realistic image retrieval tasks concerning both category and attributes. Considering the scale of modern datasets, hashing is favorable for its low complexity. However, most existing hashing methods are designed to preserve one single kind of similarity, thus incapable of dealing with the different tasks simultaneously. To overcome this limitation, we propose a new hashing method, named Dual Purpose Hashing (DPH), which jointly preserves the category and attribute similarities by exploiting the convolutional networks (CNN) to hierarchically capture the correlations between category and attributes. Since images with both category and attribute labels are scarce, our method is designed to take the abundant partially labelled images on the Internet as training inputs. With such a framework, the binary codes of new-coming images can be readily obtained by quantizing the network outputs of a binary-like layer, and the attributes can be recovered from the codes easily. Experiments on two large-scale datasets show that our dual purpose hash codes can achieve comparable or even better performance than those state-of-the-art methods specifically designed for each individual retrieval task, while being more compact than the compared methods.

Optimized area efficient quantum dot cellular automata based reversible code converter circuits: design and energy performance estimation

Quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA) based circuit designs are creating a surge in transistorless computational technologies. Due to its quasi-adiabatic switching resulting in extremely low leakage power dissipation as there is no continuous path. These circuits also enjoy extremely high packaging density of the order of 10(12) devices/cm(2) because of its extremely scaled area of 18 nm x 18 nm along with very high 100 GHz frequency of operation. Further the loss of bit information could be abolished by reversible logic computing. This thereby realizes an energy efficient logic operations owing to bijective relation between inputs and outputs in reversible logic. This work investigates the code converter circuits which converts 4-bit binary code to excess-3 code and vice versa based on reversible QCA logic gates for the first time. Moreover an area efficient design for 4-bit binary to gray and vice-versa code converters also designed here. All these four code converter circuits are designed using reversible logic gate Feynman and Peres gates by deploying the QCA Designer and Designer-E tool v2.0.3. Finally the in depth performance estimation of the proposed circuits in terms of circuit complexity, quantum cost and energy dissipation are also presented here. Moreover, these QCA based circuits provide a strong evidence that reversible logic based QCA circuits can be efficiently deployed for these code converter circuits.

Performance comparison of chaotic spreading sequences generated by two different classes of chaotic systems in a chaos-based direct sequence-code division multiple access system

In the world of wireless communications, achieving a highly secure transmission at the lowest possible performance degradation has presented a major challenge and a number of conventional direct-sequence-code division multiple access (DS-CDMA)-based solutions have been put forward that deals with the issue. This study aims to overcome the challenge by introducing a new approach that employs a chaotic sequence in DS-CDMA system over fading channels. The proposed algorithm, which assumes a perfect sync between the transmitter and the receiver, generates a binary code by using a three-dimensional (3D) chaotic system. Simulations based on a flat-fading channel with additive white Gaussian noise and interuser interference reveal that the new approach outperforms codes generated by other classes of chaotic systems, that is, the 1D chaotic system. The results also proved the proposition's performance is comparable to conventional pseudo-noise spreading codes, the Gold code, in several key aspects including security of transmission, bit-error rate, code generation speed and the number of possible code sequences.

Gray-code adder with parity generator - a novel quantum-dot cellular automata implementation

This study describes the first Gray-code adder architecture, without the need to transform the Gray code into binary code, using the quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA). This device is a widely used resource for machine communications, counters, and encoders. QCA is a possible alternative to the current integrated circuit [complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS)] due to its nanometric scale and very low-power consumption. In a bottom-up approach, the authors first describe and present the architecture of an important building block that composes the Gray-code adder, the parity generator, and then describe the full architecture. Besides being essential in the proposed adder, the parity generator is also important for error-checking and construction of other devices and widely used in communications. They demonstrate the functionality, test, and validate the proposed architectures using the QCADesigner simulator. If QCA consolidates as a possible CMOS substitute, this study can impact the design of future components that uses Gray-code and parity generator, such as embedded digital communications systems that will benefit from the low-power consumption of the QCA technology.

An LDPC code is a particular linear block code class with low-density parity-check matrix H, i.e. sparse. Because of this parsity in LDPC codes, encoding is low in difficulty and therefore simple to enforce. LDPC codes also provide a wide spectrum of compensation for efficiency and complexity. The high coding complexity of LDPC codes is a major drawback. Where forward error detection and correction codes have been used in large numbers of storage applications or transmitted over many years by wireless services or wireless communication networks due to unreliable network *** this review paper, we will present the main concept of LDPC and overview on error correcting codes, decoding and encoding, binary code, and Nonbinary code. A set of words X is not primitivity-preserving if there is a primitive list of length at least two of elements from X whose concatenation is imprimitive. Here, a word or list is primitive if it is not equal to a concatenation of several copies of a shorter word or list, and imprimitive otherwise. We formalize a full characterization of such two-element sets {x, y} in the proof assistant Isabelle/HOL. The formalization is based on an existing proof which we analyze and simplify using some innovative ideas. Part of the formalization, interesting on its own, is a description of the ways in which the square xx can appear inside a concatenation of words x and y if |y| = |x|. We also provide a formalized parametric solution of the related equation x(j)y(k) = z(l).

Let [K-n, f, pi] be the (global) SDS map of a sequential dynamical system (SDS) defined over the complete graph K-n using the update order pi is an element of S-n in which all vertex functions are equal to the same function f : F-2(n) -> F-2(n). Let eta(n) denote the maximum number of periodic orbits of period 2 that an SDS map of the form [K-n, f, pi] can have. We show that eta(n) is equal to the maximum number of codewords in a binary code of length n - 1 with minimum distance at least 3. This result is significant because it represents the first interpretation of this fascinating coding-theoretic sequence other than its original definition.

Analysis of Decompiled Program code Using Abstract Syntax Trees

This article proposes a method for preprocessing fragments of binary program codes for subsequent detection of their similarity using machine learning methods. The method is based on the analysis of pseudocode obtained as a result of decompiling fragments of binary codes. The analysis is performed using attributed abstract syntax trees (AASTs). As part of the study, testing and comparative analysis of the effectiveness of the developed method are carried out. This method makes it possible to increase the efficiency of detecting functionally similar fragments of program code, compared to analogs, by using the semantic context of vertices in abstract syntax trees.

All-optical BCD to excess 3 code encoder with proper use of optical non-linear material

In the last few decades it has been established that, communication with light is much, much easier than communication with electricity. Many proposals have already been proposed in many fields in support of this. Here a new concept of all-optical binary to excess-3 code encoder or converter is proposed with the proper use of nonlinear optical material. In this scheme the input and output binary digits are expressed as the presence (= 1) and the absence (= 0) of the light signal. The intensity based optical XOR, AND and OR logic gates are used here as the basic building blocks.
