In this paper the novel PID (Proportional + Integral + Derivative) model for adaptive buffer control is proposed for internet applications. The aim is to prevent any bufferoverflow at the receiver side so that the possibility of widespread retransmissions due to overflow is eliminated. This leads to better service roundtrip time and user satisfaction. The efficacy of the Integral control relies on the power of the predictive component in the PID controller, namely, the (MRT)-R-2 algorithm. The PID prototype was verified successfully over the internet, involving the interaction between remote internet sites..
