This paper explores the related problems of verification and change detection in document images. The goal is to determine if two document images differ, and if so, to determine precisely what content may have been added, deleted, or otherwise modified. This problem has many potential applications, especially for important legal documents such as contractual agreements. These agreements are often edited, shared and stored as scanned or hardcopy documents, where small, undetected changes between edits could create major differences in the contractual language and thus have severe repercussions. One can view the problem of change detection as tracing the revision history of a set of documents. Thus, in order to validate the performance of this approach, we created the "Enron Revisions" dataset. This dataset contains realistic revisions obtained from attachments in the Enron Corpus, and a series of before and after snapshots of the revisions in images with varying levels of noise from resolution, binarization, and blur. The approach taken in this paper utilizes the SIFT descriptor to align two document images without the benefit of OCR and once aligned, to compare dense descriptors to determine changes that have occurred within the image. As a baseline, this "VisualDiff" is compared to a UNIX diff-like approach on text extracted through OCR and results demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach.

Design of applications working in nonstationary environments requires the ability to detect and anticipate possible behavioral changes affecting the system under investigation. In this direction, the literature provides several tests aiming at assessing the stationarity of a data generating process; of particular interest are nonparametric sequential change-point detection tests that do not require any a-priori information regarding both process and change. Moreover, such tests can be made automatic through an on-line inspection of sequences of data, hence making them particularly interesting to address real applications. Following this approach, we suggest a novel two-level hierarchical change-detection test designed to detect possible occurrences of changes by observing incoming measurements. This hierarchical solution significantly reduces the number of false positives at the expenses of a negligible increase of false negatives and detection delays. Experiments show the effectiveness of the proposed approach both on synthetic dataset and measurements from real applications.

Due to rapid changes in the content of the web pages it has become very necessary to develop a system which can detect recurrent changes in the minimum browsing time. This paper has devised algorithm for structural changes and defines a text code formula to detect the content changes and also represents Architecture for web page change detection system. Analysis and comparison of various web page change detection algorithms based on various parameters to find out strengths and weaknesses for detecting the changes of web pages is also one of the important features highlighted through this paper.

The development of satellites with the strong temporal repetitiveness and development of remote sensing techniques resulted in the advancement of change detection techniques from geospatial imagery. The natural events cause many modifications in the control process of the ecosystems. There is a necessity of using a method capable to map, categorize and monitor areas affected by natural events along time. In this article, a novel methodology of change detection is proposed in order to improve the change detection from multi-date satellite image using the source separation. The results obtained by our methodology are efficient and effective.

In this paper, we present an unsupervised change detection approach in temporal sets of SAR images. The change detection is represented as a task of energy minimization and the energy function is minimized using graph cuts. Neighboring pixels are taken into account in a priority sequence according to their distance from the center pixel, and the energy function is formed based on Markov Random Field (MRF) model. Graph cuts algorithm is employed for computing maximum a-posteriori (MAP) estimates of the MRF. Experiments results obtained on a SAR data set confirm the effectiveness of the proposed approach. The comparisons between graph cuts algorithm and iterated conditional modes (ICM) algorithm about the quality of change map and running time of energy minimization illustrate that graph cuts algorithm is a huge improvement over ICM.

We consider the quickest detection of idle periods in multiple on-off processes. At each time, only one process can be observed, and the observations are random realizations drawn from two different distributions depending on the current state (on or off) of the chosen process. Switching back to a previously visited process is allowed, and measurements obtained during previous visits are taken into account in decision making. The objective is to catch an idle period in any of the on-off processes as quickly as possible subject to a constraint on the probability of mistaking a busy period for an idle one. Assuming geometrically distributed busy and idle times, we establish a Bayesian formulation of the problem within a decision-theoretic framework. Basic structures of the optimal decision rules are established. Based on these basic structures, we propose a low-complexity threshold policy for switching among processes and declaring idle periods. The near optimal performance of this threshold policy is demonstrated by a comparison with a genie-aided system which defines an upper bound on the optimal performance. This problem finds applications in spectrum opportunity detection in cognitive radio networks where a secondary user searches for idle channels in the spectrum.

change detection for remote sensing image is of great significance to a diverse range of applications. From the point of object-based method, this paper provides a change detection algorithm based on co-saliency strategy for multitemporal high resolution images. Firstly, the final difference image fused by difference feature and log difference feature, is generated, and feature image including spatial and contextual information is obtained by Gabor wavelet transform. Secondly, co-saliency strategy is performed via cluster-based method, combining the final difference image with feature difference image at each temporal data, and highlighting the common regions as the changed directly. Finally, actual change map is extracted by fuzzy local information C-means clustering algorithm (FLICM) and decision-voted method. The experiments show the method proposed in this paper has a superior performance in change detection for high resolution remote sensing images.

Eastman Kodak has developed a technique called MOSAIC, for Multi-modality Operational Site Analysis and Intelligent change detection. This technique is based on the application of faceted site models and synthetic image generation (SIG) tools in tandem with material identification using relative reflectance properties derived from imagery and/or feature maps. This presentation will step through key accomplishments in the past two phases of the projects evolution; the technique feasibility demonstration and initial development accomplished under NRO/AS&T charter, and subsequent application of this technique towards the NIMA objective of automatic change detection and update of GIS features including buildings, roads, and river-ways using 3-D volumetric models. Performance examples will be provided, along with a discussion of relationships to other NIMA and Air Force programs.

This paper introduces a novel unified framework for change detection in remote sensing images, which compute one local dHOG feature from two images and make classification based on SVM classifier. Compared to the traditional methods, this approach takes advantage of the robustness of the dHOG feature. The inaccuracy and ambiguity with the definition of change can be eliminated by SVM classifier by training with an expert labeled dataset. In order to tackle the projective deformation problem which usually produce substantive false alarms, a novel matching algorithm is introduced by solving a discrete optimization problem. Experiments demonstrate the advantages and effectiveness of the proposed method.

This paper presents a new key frame extraction algorithm as well as a novel video-indexing scheme for fast content-based browsing and retrieval in video databases. We first extract key frames by matching the AHIM (accumulated histogram intersection measure) of the DC image sequence constructed from the MPEG video sequence. Then we use the region segmentation-based projective histogram and its moments as database indices for video retrieval.
