Content-based video indexing and retrieval has its foundations in the analyses of the prime video temporal structures. Consequently, technologies for video segmentation and key-frame extraction have become crucial for the development of advanced digital video systems. Conventional algorithms for video partitioning and key-frame extraction are mainly implemented autonomously. By focusing the analysis on compressed video features, this paper introduces a real-time algorithm for scene change detection and key-frame extraction that generates frame difference metrics by analysing the statistics of the macro-block features extracted from an MPEG compressed stream. The key-frame extraction method is implemented using difference metrics in curve simplification by means of a discrete contour evolution algorithm. This approach resulted in a fast and robust algorithm. Results of computer simulations are reported.

Negative selection algorithm is used to generate detector for change detection, anomaly detection. But it can not be adapted to the change of self data because the match threshold must be set at first. To solve the problem, I-TMA-GA and TMA-MRM inspired from the maturation of T-cells are proposed. But genetic algorithm is used to evolve the detector population with minimal selfmax. In this paper, to achieve the maximal coverage of nonselves, genetic algorithm is used to evolve the detector population with minimal match range with selfmax and selfmin. An augmented algorithm called T-detectors maturation algorithm based on min-match range model is proposed. The proposed algorithm is tested by simulation experiment for anomaly detection and compared with NSA, I-TMA-GA and TMA-MRM. The results show that the proposed algorithm is more effective than others

A novel approach for highway traffic event detection in video is presented. The proposed algorithm extracts event features directly from compressed video and detects traffic event using a Gaussian mixture hidden Markov model (GMHMM). First, an invariant feature vector is extracted from discrete cosine transform (DCT) domain and macro-block vectors after MPEG video stream is parsed. The extracted feature vector accurately describes the change of traffic state and is robust towards different camera setups and illumination situations, such as sunny, cloud, and night. Six traffic patterns are studied and a GMHMM is trained to model these patterns in offline stage. Then, Viterbi algorithm is used to determine the most likely traffic condition. The proposed algorithm is efficient both in terms of computational complexity and memory requirement. The experimental results prove the system has a high detection rate. The presented model based system can be easily extended for detection of similar traffic events.

Model order information is important in parametric methods in array signal processing. Many model order estimation techniques assume a fixed model order within the observation duration. In frequency hopped (FH) systems, however, signals may appear to hop in and out of the observation frequency band if there is a bandwidth mismatch between the receiver and transmitters, which results in model order variations. In this paper, we propose a low complexity method to detect model order changes. Our detection method is based on the "soft-information"-the trace of signal correlation matrices obtained using a sliding-window approach. Simulations show that at low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), the proposed method offers better performance than detection based on "hard-information" obtained by commonly used source enumeration techniques such as SVD and MDL. The method is developed in the context of FH systems, but it can also be applied to other scenarios where the transmitted signals are uncorrelated.

We propose two distributed algorithms to maintain, respectively, a maximal matching and a maximal independent set in a given ad hoc network; our algorithms are fault tolerant (reliable) in the sense that the algorithms can detect occasional link failures and/or new link creations in the network (due to mobility of the hosts) and can readjust the global predicates. We provide time complexity analysis of the algorithms in terms of the number of rounds needed for the algorithm to stabilize after a topology change, where a round is defined as a period of time in which each node in the system receives beacon messages from all its neighbors. In any ad hoc network, the participating nodes periodically transmit beacon messages for message transmission as well as to maintain the knowledge of the local topology at the node; as a result, the nodes get the information about their neighbor nodes synchronously (at specific time intervals). Thus, the paradigm to analyze the complexity of the self-stabilizing algorithms in the context of ad hoc networks is very different from the traditional concept of an adversary daemon used in proving the convergence and correctness of self-stabilizing distributed algorithms in general.

Aiming at the problems such as large scale change and poor detection accuracy, an improved YOLOv5 pedestrian detection algorithm based on drone view was ***, a multi-scale bidirectional feature network structure was proposed to enhance the multi-scale feature detection ability of YOLOv5 network, so as to adapt to pedestrian change detection at different ***, a location attention detection layer is established to suppress background interference. Finally, the occlusion screening module is created to screen out the occluded pedestrians and improve the detection accuracy of the *** order to verify the performance of the algorithm, a comparison experiment is carried out with the existing pedestrian detection algorithm. The experimental results show that compared with the original YOLOv5 algorithm, the algorithm's accuracy is improved by 10.01%, and compared with the YOLOv5-tiny pedestrian detection algorithm, the algorithm's accuracy is improved by 5.74%, which can detect pedestrians well in the perspective of drones.

change detection algorithms are commonly used to detect novelties for surveillance purposes in public and private places equipped by static or Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) cameras. Often, these techniques are also used as prerequisite to support more complex algorithms, including event recognition, object classification, person re-identification, and many others. With regard to small-scale Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) at low-altitude, the change detection techniques require further investigation. In fact, most of the works currently available in the literature process video sequences acquired at very high-altitude for large-scale operations, such as vegetation monitoring, mapping of buildings, and so on. In a wide range of application contexts that require, for example, frequent monitoring or high spatial resolution for detecting small objects, video sequences acquired at high-altitude are not suitable. This paper presents a change detection system based on histogram equalization and RGB-Local Binary Pattern (RGB-LBP) operator for monitoring of wide areas by small-scale UAVs at low-altitude. Extensive experimental results show the robustness of the proposed pipeline. These latter were performed by using challenging video sequences of the public UAV Mosaicking and change detection (UMCD) dataset and measured a set of well-known statistical metrics. Finally, a performance analysis of the proposed algorithm is also provided.

Anti-islanding protection of power disturbing method for a two-stage photovoltaic grid-connected inverter is designed in this paper. There is little coupling between the input and output power of the inverter as the dc-dc and dc-ac conversion is independent from each other. Step change of voltage across the dc-link filtering capacitor results in a change of stored energy of the capacitor and consequent a disturbance on the current injected into the grid. This algorithm is adopted for the islanding detection of the inverter. When the grid is gone, the disturbing current results in disturbance of the voltage across the ac terminals, and the islanding protection can be triggered. This method has merit of little non-detection zone for islanding detection.

This paper proposes an algorithm that has been developed for the video-oculograph method. Knowing the change of eyelid shape, we detect a center of pupil for extraction of a point of gaze. It is used to detect the center of the pupil, extracted from a captured image of an eye acquired by using a CCD camera and a computer with image grabber. The image is 640 by 480 pixels in size. The program controls the image easily by using the binary image from the captured image grabber. The image removed noise, the reflected light from the pupil or partially covered by eyelashes and an eyelid, by using the image enhancement method. And boundary of eyelid is extracted using the obtained outline around eye.
