This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 16th International Conference on Practice and theory in Public-Key Cryptography, PKC 2013, held in Nara, Japan, in February/March 2013.;The 28 papers presented together with 2 invited talks were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. The papers are organized in the following topical sections: homomorphic encryption, primitives, functional encryption/signatures, RSA, IBE and IPE, key exchange, signature schemes, encryption, and protocols.

In this book, H. S. Green, a former student of Max Born and well known as an author in physics and in philosophy of science, presents an individual and modern approach to theoretical physics and related fundamental problems. Starting from first principles, the links between physics and information science are unveiled step by step: modern informationtheory and the classical theory of the Turing machine are combined to create a new interpretation of quantum computability, which is then applied to field theory, gravitation and submicroscopic measurement theory and culminates in a detailed examination of the role of the conscious observer in physical measurements. The result is a highly readable book that unifies a wide range of scientific knowledge and is essential reading for all scientists and philosophers of science interested in the interpretation and the implications of the interaction between information science and basic physical theories.

This Open Access Book explores how c
lassical informationtheory’s focus on syntactic information has limited the further development of communication science. Recently, communication technologies that handle and transmit semantic information have gained widespread attention in academia. Semantic communication has paved new directions for the future of communication technology development, yet it lacks a general mathematical guiding theory. To address this challenge, th

book constructs a theoretical framework for semantic informationtheory and provides a systematic exposition of the measurement system for semantic information and the theoretical limits of semantic communication. It serves as a professional reference for researchers in information and communication. The book begins by deeply analyzing the data characteristics of various information sources and the needs of downstream tasks to summarize and generalize the universal attribute of semantic information—synonym
