In contemporary organisations, managerial expertise is increasingly viewed as an ability to reflect on activities, processes and human relations within organisational life in order to gain a systemic understanding of the workings of the organisation. This article examines the interactional practices of a consultant-led management training where steering groups of an organisation have a task of gaining such expertise. The article investigates how managerial expertise is constructed and negotiated in training interaction as the groups categorise their managerial actions through a specific coding scheme. The analysis shows that the use of the coding scheme is contingent on being able to display access to organisational processes and activities, connecting general managerial knowledge to specific, local knowledge of the organisation and moving from 'knowing-that' to 'knowing-how' type of knowledge.

Mobility as a Service (MaaS) is a concept aiming for the provision of a diversity of transport services to travellers via one single user interface as one integrated service. The intention is to provide flexible mobility services to individuals and families to constitute an alternative to car ownership. This paper aims to provide an overview of the MaaS research area. A systematic mapping study of scientific literature on MaaS up till and including 2020 has been conducted. 193 articles are included in the study through searches in scientific databases and a structured selection and classification process. The findings are analysed and discussed. Eight main topics were identified in the MaaS literature: User aspects, Societal aspects, MaaS functionality, MaaS integration, MaaS implementation, Business aspects, Technology aspects, and Privacy and security aspects. The main results are: (i) coding schemes defining the structure and scope of the MaaS research area with respect to the main topics and sub-topics, approaches used and contribution types;(ii) a classification of the selected literature on MaaS according to the coding schemes;(iii) analysis and discussions of the findings;and (iv) discussions of trends and gaps in the MaaS research. The study contributes to a broader and more detailed overview of the MaaS research area than previous work and can support the discovery of relevant literature, assist positioning of research within the research area, be used as a foundation for further literature studies, and guide the direction of future work on MaaS.

One way in which media campaigns produce effects is by stimulating talk about the campaigns among audience members. Scientific analysis of that talk requires a means of measuring it, something that is lacking in the current literature. To advance research on this topic, we developed a campaign-induced interpersonal communication (CIC) coding scheme. The scheme was applied to conversation data gathered from participant pairs who were exposed to health-related public service announcements (PSAs), then discussed each one. Results showed that the mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive set of codes could be applied reliably to conversation data. Evidence of construct validity was seen in data patterns that demonstrated dyadic movement toward intersubjectivity, responsiveness to task demands, and over time changes in features of the conversations, all of which are defining features of interpersonal communication. The CIC coding scheme provides a foundation for researchers interested in studying interpersonal processes associated with media campaigns.

Cultivating students' design abilities can be highly beneficial for the learning of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) concepts, and development of higher-order thinking capabilities (National Academy of Engineering and National Research Council in STEM integration in k-12 education: status, prospects, and an agenda for research, The National Academies Press, Washington, 2014). Therefore, examining students' strategies, how they distribute their cognitive effort, and confront STEM concepts during designexperiences, can help educators identify effective and developmentally appropriate methods for teaching and scaffolding design activities for students (National Research Council in standards for k-12 engineering education? Yet, educational researchers have only recently begun examining students' engineering design cognition at the P-12 level, despite reports such as Standards for K-12 Engineering Education? (National Research Council 2010) designating this area of research as lackluster. Of the recent studies that have investigated engineering design cognition at the P-12 level, the primary method of investigation has been verbal protocol analysis using a think-aloud method (Grubbs in further characterization of high school pre- and non-engineering students' cognitive activity during engineering design, 2016). In this work, we use an extensive empirical database of errors induced by write, read, and erase operations to develop a comprehensive understanding of the error behavior of flash memories. Error characterization of MLC and SLC flash is given on the block, page, and bit level. Based on our error characterization in MLC flash, we propose an error-correcting scheme which outperforms the conventional BCH code. We compare several schemes which use an MLC block as an SLC block. Finally, an implementation of two-write WOM-codes in SLC flash is given as well as the BER for the first and second write.

This paper explores encoding schemes based on production characteristics of vowels. The performance of coding schemes is analyzed for accurate prediction of durations of syllables using neural network models. Linguistic and production constraints represented by positional, contextual, phonological and articulatory (PCPA) features are used for predicting the durations of syllables. These features are coded with distinct numerical values before feeding to the neural network for building models. The evaluation of coding schemes is carried out by means of objective and subjective measures. The quality of text-to-speech synthesis system is observed to be better by incorporating the duration model with vowels coded based on lip roundness.

Work on sociolinguistic variation increasingly considers interactional structures and phenomena as conditioning factors of variation. At the same time, scholars of talk-in interaction have explored the potential of treating interactional phenomena as variables. However, these strands exist in isolation from each other. The present paper draws on both perspectives and proposes (1) three steps for developing an interactionally rooted variable definition and coding scheme based on the example of Listener Response, and (2) heuristics for testing how applicable the coding scheme is for a scholar of language variation without in-depth training in the analysis of talk-in-interaction. An analysis of inter-coder reliability shows high agreement for the proposed coding scheme. Small systematic disagreements are discussed and used to refine the coding scheme. (c) 2022 Elsevier Ltd. This paper presents the system design method to determine the modulation and coding schemes according to the given usage models of single carrier transmission in millimeter wave Wireless LAN systems. Various modulation and coding combinations are compared and analyzed based on the BER performance over both AWGN and fading channels. The effects of hardware impairments including power amplifier non-linear effects and phase noise, etc., are considered as well. The system design strategy provides a guideline for the selection of modulation and coding schemes in practical which can fulfill the realistic system requirements.
