This paper presents a multi-ANN approximation approach to approximate complex non-linear function. Comparing with single-ANN methods the proposed approach improves and increases the approximation and generalization ability, and adaptability greatly in learning processes of networks. The simulation results have been shown that the method can be applied to the modeling and identification of complex dynamic control systems.

To finally obtain the overall and fast recognition method for the electrochemical corrosion of reinforced concrete (RC) structures, the complexfunction algorithm is established to approximate the corrosion transfer function in frequency domain, and then the influence of Z(CPE), Z(W), R-ct and R-c in the universal equivalent circuit (EC) R-c((R(ct)Z(W)) Z(CPE)) on the time response is discussed in detail. The results indicate that the polynomial complexfunction can successfully approximate the corrosion transfer function with the given accuracy. The response of Rc((RctZW) ZCPE) in time domain can be achieved by the inverse Laplace transform of the polynomial complexapproximationfunction. (C) 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

To quickly and conveniently determine the corrosion status of reinforced concrete (RC) structures, the analysis and recognition algorithms are established based on complex function approximation (CFA) and fractional derivative theory (FDT), respectively. The response characteristics of universal transfer function corresponding to the step stimulus in which the dispersion and diffusion effects are simultaneously considered are analyzed in time domain. Furthermore, the feasibility of corrosion recognition algorithm based on FDT is verified numerically according to the results of CFA algorithm.
