In today's galloping world, most purchases have been ordered online, so studying Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) can help companies to maximize their profit. In this paper, Multi-Depot Vehicle Routing Problem (MDVRP) is considered as a new type of VRP, where the customers are served from several depots aiming to minimize the total transportation cost. NP-hardness of MDVRP causes in impossibility to solve the problem with exact methods;while, heuristic and meta-heuristic approaches have their own pros and cons. We propose a new approach, where customers are first assign to depots and then allocated to vehicles in each depot. Then, we solve the defined sub-problems using the exact methods. computational experiments on benchmark instances are conducted to examine the performance of the new approach. The results suggest that the proposed algorithm is able to solve the MDVRP in low computational time and reasonable cost.

The paper introduces a new design for the predictive control of 1M drives. The design of the proposed controller is performed through studying the interconnection between the motor's torque and slip speed. The contribution of the new strategy is illustrated through the simplified error function design which includes two similar terms of the same category, thus there is no need to use a balancing weight factor which is usually used in model predictive direct torque control (NIP DTC). The dynamic errors of the alpha-beta (alpha-beta) voltages are utilized to formulate the cost-function, which contributed significantly in reducing the execution time in comparison with the function used by the MP DTC method which has two distinct parts (torque and flux errors) besides using a weighting value (W-f). Moreover, the intended model predictive voltage control (MP VC) has a faster dynamic response than the MP DTC, and this is due to controlling directly the applied voltage vectors instead of controlling estimated variables as in MP DTC. To illustrate the contributions of the new strategy, a comparative study between the constructed MP VC and NIP DTC control approaches for IM is introduced. The results report that the designed MP VC has a better dynamic in terms of reduced ripples, reduced voltage and current distortions, reduced calculation time, and faster dynamic response.

The optimal operation of complex networks and critical infrastructures requires solving various large-scale decision-making problems. These problems usually are formulated as optimization problems with several variables and constraints. This leads to the high computational complexity of solving the underlying optimization problem. Hence, we require efficient methods to first model the operational objective function and constraints of the complex networks, and how they can leverage available computational resources to achieve the optimal operation of the entire system. We further need to ensure data security of decision-making entities, e.g., network flow problems, and their impact on the secure operation of the system. The proposed framework and algorithms in this paper include distributed intelligence among heterogeneous agents in a complex network represented by a graph of nodes and edges among them. Our utilized methods act as efficient computational algorithms to solve the underlying optimization problems of these networks in a computationally-efficient fashion. In order to evaluate the introduced distributed algorithm for linear-constrained optimization with a quadratic cost function, we used a random network with different numbers of nodes and edges. We illustrate the run-time and convergence of the distributed method over various networks.

Changes in the system loads requires the systems to be adjusted accordingly which would make the entire system to be dynamic. As the system undergoes continuous changes, the operator needs to be in extreme alert to make real time decisions. Newton-Raphson power flow method that makes use of the bus admittance matrix remains as an efficient and most popular method to get the power low solution. Elements of Jacobian matrix are computed from standard expressions which lack physical significance. In this paper, the preliminary analysis on state vector and computational time are discussed in term of dynamic input changes and stress condition. The conventional Weighted Least Square (WLS) method and modified Jacobian WLS (M-JWLS) has been tested on 4 different bus systems which are IEEE 14-bus system, IEEE 30-bus system, IEEE 57-bus system and IEEE 118-bus system. This research is expected to provide a data validation indicator for the research continuation. © 2022 Institute of Advanced Engineering and Science (IAES).

The group key exchange protocol is a cryptographic mechanism is designed to provide a common session key for a group, there are some common challenges to this type of algorithm as computation and communication cost. Whenever the involvement of high computation and communication operations to the algorithms encounter, then the system with low configuration always faces problem in major time delay. The proposed approach is designed specifically to provide computation and communication efficient algorithms for low configuration systems without violating the security. For making our approach computationally efficient, we replaced modular exponential operation by modular multiplication operation, helpful for low configuration system making task early. For making our approach communication efficient, we used the divide and conquer mechanism to reduced the message transmission cost. The major task is to generate a common session key for the group in less computation time for a low configuration system without violating the security. The RSA algorithm assuring security with constant computation cost while the modular multiplication operation, assuring the less computation cost for low configuration system. The major limitation of the study as the approach is more efficient and applicable for low configuration system only, if comparing the existing approaches with the low configuration system. © 2021, Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of Computer Applications and Management.

DOA estimation of signal sources in multipath environments is a computationally complex problem. In this paper, authors present a computationally efficient DOA estimation algorithm effective against highly correlated or fully coherent sources in pairs. The proposed method is novel in that it applies forward/backward averaging to the signal subspace to de-correlate the signals unlike existing methods which apply spatial smoothing techniques to the correlation matrix. This significantly reduces the computational complexity and computation time of the algorithm and improves the estimation accuracy making the proposed method amenable to practical hardware implementation. Simulation results are presented to validate the efficacy of the proposed method and a performance comparison is made with Root-MUSIC method.

In the control of DC/AC switched power converters (SPC), one of the most important aspects to be considered is the selection of the real-time control platform. The real-time control platform must be able to meet the high performance efficiency and regulation requirements of the DC/AC SPC, as these typically operate at switching frequencies in the order of kHz to MHz. For this reason, the hardware characteristics of the ADC and PWM, and the processing capacity of the real-time control platform are of vital importance when implementing advanced digital controllers that maintain voltage and current levels within regulatory standards. In this context, we aimed to perform a comparative study of the computation times of different real-time control platforms when implementing different control strategies for DC/AC switched power converters. We also analyzed the impact of the real-time control platforms on the THD of the voltages generated by the DC/AC switched power converters. With the help of this paper, researchers and developers will have criteria to select which real-time control platform to use in real-time control for DC/AC SPC applications.

In this paper, nonlinear model predictive control of mechanical systems evolving on Lie group SE(3) is studied. Discrete-time equations of motion referred to as LGVI are used in order to extract the necessary conditions of optimality. Then, TPBVP equations are solved using sensitivity derivatives to find Lagrange multipliers. A fast solver for NMPC is used to solve the problem. Extracting necessary conditions of optimality based on LGVI leads to group structure preservation and good convergence behavior of the system under study. Subsequently, some modifications based on removing non-essential nonlinear terms are applied to sensitivity derivatives and TPBVP equations, aiming to reduce the computation time of solving the NMPC problem. The presented method is applied on a spacecraft evolving on SE(3) with constraints as an example and the simulation results show the efficiency of the proposed method. Also, it is shown that introducing the aforementioned modifications reduces the computation time by a considerable amount.

An efficient and cost effective application mapping for network-on-chip using Andean condor algorithm

Advancement in very large scale integration (VLSI) technologies and the ever-shrinking size of the transistors have led the semiconductor designers to create a multiprocessor system on chips. Network on chip (NoC) provides an efficient and flexible communication infrastructure to these systems. One of the most prominent research problems in NoC is mapping the real-time application tasks to multiple cores. The aim is to map the cores, which require frequent and high-bandwidth communications close enough to increase the performance and decrease the chip's power consumption. In this research, a nature-inspired Andean condor algorithm (ACA) is applied to the mapping problem of application tasks on multiple cores of NoC. Initially, a clustering-based technique provides the main algorithm a head-start for fast convergence, and then the main ACA is applied to achieve the optimal performance. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperformed state-of-the-art algorithms in terms of various performance metrics, such as communication cost, average packet latency, throughput and energy consumption. The proposed algorithm achieves up to 27.11% improvement in communication cost and provides 78.9% savings in computational overhead.

This paper presents a new algorithm to implement the Carpinteri-Spagnoli-Vantadori (CSV) multiaxial fatigue criterion for random loading and to shorten the computation time. This goal is achieved after calculating the exact expressions of stress spectral moments in every rotated plane, which allow the maximum variance and expected maximum peak of normal/shear stress to be computed directly. This permits the new algorithm to determine the five rotations of the critical plane without using 'for/end' loops (which represent a slow numerical operation), although some information on stress signals examined is lost. Two examples are presented to demonstrate the advantages of the new algorithm in comparison with its standard version, which are particularly remarkable when considering the stress output of all finite element model nodes. The approach behind the new algorithm can be extended to other multiaxial spectral criteria that use angular rotations or direction cosines to locate the critical plane or the direction of maximum stress variance.
