Most of industrial model-based predictive control algorithms are suffering from heavy computation burden when solving QR optimizations and on-line matrixes multiplication within a limited sampling *** order to optimize this problem,a fast algorithm is proposed,which the real-time values are modulated into bit streams to simplify the multiplication as the bit based operation could extremely decrease the compute *** addition,the control variables are deduced from the prediction horizon to the current control actuation approximately by a recursive relation instead of figuring all of the control actuations out strictly to reduce the matrix dimension.

Improved Fault-Tolerant Model Predictive Torque Control of Five-Phase PMSM by Using Deadbeat Solution

This paper proposes an improved fault-tolerant model predictive torque control (MPTC) for a five-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor based on deadbeat solution, which offers the reduced computation burden, good steady-state performance and simple control structure. Under the open-circuit fault condition, the virtual voltage vectors (VVV) which can restrain the harmonics work as the candidate vectors. The deadbeat solution is adopted to predict the reference voltage vector. The optimal VVV can be selected directly and rapidly according to the sector of the reference voltage vector. Hence the computation burden can be reduced largely because the process of testing all candidate VVVs is avoided. In order to reduce the error between the reference voltage vector and the selected VVV, a null vector is introduced by a simple geometric principle. Then, the duration of the selected VVV can be obtained. Therefore, the steady-state performance is enhanced because of the deadbeat solution and the multi-vectors in each control period. The experiments are presented to verify the proposed fault-tolerant MPTC.

Reach-avoid games with two heterogeneous defenders and one attacker

This article addresses a reach-avoid game with two heterogeneous defenders and one attacker in a bounded, convex domain consisting of a target region and a play region. The attacker aims to reach the target region before being captured by any defenders, while the defenders strive to capture the attacker in advance. A simple geometric method is introduced that only considers the position relation between the reaching regions of the players and the boundary of the target region to construct the barrier of the two-player version reach-avoid game analytically. Next, based on the speed ratio between the defenders, the necessary and sufficient conditions suitable for the general game setups to judge which defender contributes to the barrier and decompose the problem into several two-player version subproblems are given. Then, the barrier of the original game is constructed analytically by combining these subproblems in all possible situations. The method provided an analytical expression of the barrier and has essentially no computation burden. Thus, the method is suitable for online applications. And solutions given in this work can be extended to general multiplayer situations and the game with complex setups for further research.

Active element pattern technique is applied for analyzing microstrip array, which divides a large array analysis problem as a superposition of various simplified small array problems and greatly reduces the computation burden. The effects of the mutual coupling and the surrounding array environment are rigorously taken into account in the proposed method. Based on the active element pattern technique, a low side lobe microstrip array is synthesized. The commercial full-wave simulation software, HFSS, is used to simulate the array as a whole and the efficiency of the proposed method is validated.

A Novel Sliding-Discrete-Control-Set Modulated Model Predictive Control for Modular Multilevel Converter

Model predictive control (MPC) method has been recognized as one of the most promising technologies for the modular multilevel converter (MMC) due to the fast dynamic response and its simple realization. However, conventional finite control set (FCS) MPC methods for MMC are facing some challenges, such as high computation burden, poor steady-state performance, dependence on weighting factors, and variable switching frequency. In order to solve these problems, a novel sliding-discrete-control-set (SDCS) modulated MPC (MMPC) is proposed for MMC in this paper. Based on the adaptive search step in the output current control, only three control sets are evaluated in each period. In addition, the independent circulating current controller is applied in the proposed MMPC method. With the circulating current controller, the circulating currents are well regulated, and the arm capacitor voltage balancing is realized by circulating current injection. As a result, there is no weighting factor involved in the proposed MMPC method. Compared with the conventional MPC methods, the proposed method obtains a fixed switching frequency in each submodule (SM) and a low comparable computation burden. Simulation and experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Discrete Non-iterative Centroid Type-Reduction Algorithms on General Type-2 Fuzzy Logic Systems

Since the alpha-planes expressions of general type-2 fuzzy sets (GT2 FSs) have been proposed, general type-2 fuzzy logic systems (GT2 FLSs) that are dependent on GT2 FSs are becoming quite popular to fuzzy logic researchers. Usually enhanced Karnik-Mendel (EKM) algorithms are adopted for performing the kernel block of type-reduction (TR). However, the essence of EKM-based TR process probably hinders the GT2 FLSs from real-world applications. It is an intriguing as well as unsolved problem for comparing EKM algorithms with other non-iterative algorithms. This paper provides a framework encompassing fuzzy reasoning, defuzzification, as well as type-reduction. Furthermore, the continuous of NT (CNT) algorithm is shown to be a precise approach when it is used to execute the centroid TR of GT2 fuzzy logic systems. Four computer tests display the characteristics of discrete Nagar-Bardini (NB) and Nie-Tan (NT) non-iterative algorithms. Compared with EKM approach, the developed one exhibits some superiorities in terms of guaranteeing high computation accuracy and low computation burdens, which broadens the application ranges for the proposed method.

Original Approach Toward Three-Phase Indirect Matrix Converters Through Hybrid PWM Modulation and DSP Implementation

Power electronic matrix converters are converters carrying out just one solitary transitional stage. AC-AC conversion automatism in matrix converters is attained through the exploitation of bidirectional controllable power switches associated with a structural matrix. The indirect matrix converter is an alternating preference to the direct matrix converter embodied by AC-DC converter and DC-AC inverter. In this paper, an assemblage of Pulse Width Modulation categories is used to control the dual stages of IMC. AC-DC converter is modulated through the well-known space vector algorithm, while DC-AC inverter is modulated through a novel algorithmic conception referred to as the digital scalar algorithm. Comparative analysis between the conventional DSVPWM modulation and the novel proposed modulation technique is escorted demonstrating that the latter is facilely comprehended and simply put into real-time practice. This paper comes forward with digital signal processor real-time enforcement, conceived for indirect matrix converter. Uniting both original approaches into one topological system entrained a significant decrease of 38% in real-time computation assesses. Artificial neural network-based FCS-MPC for three-level inverters

Finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) stands out for fast dynamics and easy inclusion of multiple nonlinear control objectives. However, for long horizontal prediction or complex topologies with multiple levels and phases, the required computation burden surges exponentially as the increases of candidate switch states during one control period. This phenomenon leads to longer sample period to guarantee enough time for traverse progress of cost function minimization. In other words, the allowed highest switching frequency is bounded considerably far from the physical limits, especially for wide-band semiconductor applications. To overcome this issue, the parallel computing characteristic of artificial neural network (ANN) motivates the idea of an ANN-based FCS-MPC imitator (ANN-MPC). In this article, ANN-MPC is implemented on a neutral point clamped (NPC) converter using a shallow neural network. The expert (FCS-MPC) is initially designed, and the basic structure, including activation function selection, training data generation, and offline training progress, and online operation of the imitator (ANN-MPC) are then discussed. After the design of the expert and imitator, a comparative analysis is conducted by field programmable gate array (FPGA) in-the-loop implementation in MATLAB/Simulink environment. The verification results of ANN-MPC show highly similarly qualified control performance and considerably reduced computation resource requirement.

Model Predictive Torque Control of Surface Mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Drives with Voltage Cost Functions

In this paper, a model predictive torque control (MPTC) without the use of a weighting factor for surface mounted permanent-magnet synchronous machine (SPMSM) drive systems is presented. Firstly, the desired voltage vector is predicted in real time according to the principles of deadbeat torque and flux control. Then the sector of this desired voltage vector is determined. The complete enumeration for testing all of the feasible voltage vectors is avoided by testing only the candidate vectors contained in the sector. This means that only two voltage vectors in the sector need to be tested for selecting the optimal voltage vector in each control period. Thus, the calculation time can be reduced when compared with the conventional enumeration method. On the other hand, a novel cost function that only includes the dq-axis voltage errors between the desired voltage and candidate voltage is designed to eliminate the weighting factor used in the conventional MPTC. Thus, the control complexity caused by the tuning of the weighting factor is effectively decreased when compared with the conventional MPTC. Simulation and experimental investigation have been carried out to verify the proposed method.

Incremental broad learning for real-time updating of data-driven power system dynamic security assessment models

This work aims to real-time update the data-driven dynamic security assessment model for accuracy maintenance and improvement. Based on the random vector functional link neural network, an incremental broad learning model is developed as an alternative and much faster approach for deep learning. Besides, the proposed method can significantly reduce the computation burden caused by abundant model parameters of layers and filters. Three real-time increment scenarios are achieved: enhancement hidden nodes, features, and training instances. Distinguished from existing methods, the proposed method can fast remodel in broad expansion without retraining the whole model, since it can only calculate the pseudoinverse of new state matrix without the computations of the whole output weights matrix. Numerical simulation results show that the proposed method can improve the accuracy step by step and update the model within a very short time at the online stage, verifying its real-time computational efficiency and accuracy improvement.
