Denial of Service (DoS) attacks are some of the biggest problems for computer security. Detection and early alert of these attacks would be helpful information which could be used to make appropriate decisions in order to minimize their negative impact. This paper proposes a new approach based on SOM-type unsupervised artificial neural networks for detection of this type of attacks at an early stage. We present a SOM-based computational Intelligent System for DoS Attacks Detection (CISDAD) and a new representation scheme for information. A study has been carried out on real traffic from a healthcare environment based on web technologies. Results show effectiveness in the detection of toxic traffic and congestion regarding abuse in communication networks.

During the process of pluralistic fertilization model construction, the unreasonable ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and kalium easily results in the deviation of fertilizing model. This paper has proposed an adaptive algorithm of fertilization model fitting based mixed intelligent computing of GP/GA, and solved the issue of structure and parameters optimization of adaptive fertilization model. This algorithm has carried out the research of applying control factors to adjust the parameters of filling function, the appropriate ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and kalium is regarded as control factors of heuristic search to adjust models, on the basis of history test data dynamical models are generated, and the optimization and correction of models based appropriate ratio of nutrients are achieved.

Multi agent systems are being applied to a wide range of applications from territorial explorations to unmanned combat missions. Agents operate as distributed problem solvers and work together to accomplish the tasks in the system. Various control frameworks have been developed for execution of tasks by agents in the system. Control frameworks consider that the agents are aware of their tasks and provide for the controls to complete the tasks in the dynamic, changing and uncertain environment of the system. But tasks in multi agent systems are not always predetermined and may evolve over time requiring dynamic planning for not only the controls but also the determination of tasks for the agents. This paper presents an integrated task planning and control framework for multi agent systems. A dynamic planning framework is developed which in turn is integrated with a selected hybrid control framework for multi agent systems. Simulation result are presented for the effectiveness of the proposed work towards a comprehensive solution to the multi agent systems based applications.

In this paper, we present a Web-based intelligent tutoring system for English dictation automatic correction, called EDAC. The design of the system includes two essential elements, the speech synthesis system and the automatic correction system. Formant synthesis has been chosen as it includes smaller speech databases for waveform concatenation and enhancement of certain speech cues for sub-optimal listening environments. EDAC uses JavaScript to correct user's dictation after executing a query to get the answer from the SQL Sever database.

The Web is still changing at a rapid rate. Principles that define the Web 2.0 are now better understood than a few years ago, but continue to evolve. The semantic Web is coming of age, resulting, for instance, in a significant amount of data now being available as Linked Open Data. Advanced Web services make sophisticated functionality such as entity extraction and location-data available for free. Against this background, we feel that the potential of today's Web for intelligent technology-supported learning is under-exploited. Especially for AI exciting research opportunities arise from building on top of available data and services. In this paper, we sketch the current state of the art of Web data and services, highlight potential future development and point out opportunities and challenges for Web-based technology-supported learning.

In this paper, we present a decision-making process that uses our proposed quasi-oppositional comprehensive learning particle swarm optimizers (QCLPSO) to solve multi-period portfolio problem. Multi-stage stochastic financial optimization takes order with portfolio in ever-changing financial markets by periodically rebalancing the asset portfolio to achieve return maximization and/or risk minimization. It brings together all major financial-related decision in a single consistent structure and integrates investment strategies, liability decisions and savings strategies in an all-around fashion. The objective function is classical return-variance function. The performance of our algorithm is demonstrated by optimizing the allocation of cash and various stocks in SSE 180 Index. Experiments are conducted to compare performance of the portfolio optimized by different objective functions with PSO and genetic algorithm (GA) in the terms of efficient frontiers.

This paper studies the tourism video active service system. The system includes user information acquisition, user interest model, video service evaluation and video push and pull broadcasting service. The user interest model is set up based on Bayesian method and it considers user's long term interest and new interest. This paper illustrates in detail the components and the realization of the system. The system performs well and provides personalized service to users and it has good practical value as well.

As one of the instance based learning method, the K-nearest-neighbor (KNN) algorithm has been widely used in many fields. This paper accomplishes the improvements on the two aspects. First, aiming to improve the efficiency of classifying, we move some computations occurring at classifying period to the training period, which leads to the great descent of computational cost. Second, to improve the accuracy of classifying, we take into account of the contribution of different attributes and obtain the optimal attribute weight sets using the quadratic programming method. Finally, this paper gives the validation of the improvements through practical experiment.

TurSOM, short for Turing self-organizing map, introduces new concepts, responsibilities and mechanisms to the traditional SOM algorithm. It draws its inspiration from Turing unorganized machines, competitive learning techniques, and SOM algorithms. Turing's unorganized machines (TUM) were one of the first computational concepts of modeling the cortex. Turing also described these machines as having self-organizing behaviors. The primary difference between Turing's self-organization description, and more traditional models we are familiar with (Grossberg, Kohonen), are that connections, rather than neurons, self-organize. TurSOM adheres to unsupervised, competitive learning techniques, wherein all neurons, and all connections between them are self-organizing and competing. As such, it presents a novel self-organizing neural network algorithm that eliminates the need for post-processing methods for cluster identification.

Cognitive developmental robotics (CDR) (Asada et al., 2001) has been tackling the issue of how human cognitive functions develop by means of a synthetic approach that developmentally constructs cognitive functions. ldquoPhysical embodimentrdquo is the core idea of CDR, and is revisited to make its role clearer, that is, to enable information structuring through interactions with the environment, including other agents. This paper attempts to reveal the developmental process of human cognitive function from a viewpoint of synthetic approach towards building a computational developmental model for the process with brief introductions of existing CDR approaches.
