The purpose of this work is to design computer codes to estimate the different thermal exchanges of the facades of a habitable envelope with its environment in order to optimize thermal comfort. This optimization is based on the use of real climate data from the region under consideration. To achieve this goal, we have developed five fundamental codes in FORTRAN language. The first code consists in Modelling the flow of the heat transfer fluid in the heating slab pipe. The second is designed to model the heat transfer by conduction within the concrete slab. The third is developed for the Modelling of thermal exchanges in a habitable envelope assimilated to a parallelepipedal cavity based on the nodal method. The fourth code is reserved for the Modelling of solar radiation by evaluating the wage flux density on different positions of the walls. The fifth and last code is dedicated to the evaluation of the perfect thermal coupling between the concrete slab and the heat transfer fluid pipes. The validation of the models implemented in the calculation codes was made on the basis of data measured recently for a clear sky of solar radiation at the radiometric station of the renewable energies research unit in the Saharan environment URER'MS of Adrar. The results obtained showed a very good agreement between the calculated values using the computational codes developed and those measured by the radiometric station of the URER'MS during the typical day.

In this paper, we design a practical power-efficient algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) in order to obtain, in a distributed manner, the projection of an observed sampled spatial field on a subspace of lower dimension. This is an important problem that is motivated in various applications where there are well defined subspaces of interest (e. g., spectral maps in cognitive radios). As opposed to traditional Gossip Algorithms used for subspace projection, where separation of channel coding and computation is assumed, our algorithm combines binary finite-length computational Coding and a novel gossip-like protocol with certain communication rules, achieving important savings in convergence time and yielding a decrease in energy consumption as the density of the network increases, as compared to a separation scheme.

The first realistic application of the recently developed 4C code is presented, aimed at showing its capability to simulate in an integrated fashion relevant transients for the superconducting coil operation in the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), both at the system and at the conductor levels. The quench initiation and propagation in an ITER IF coil is considered, including the coil fast discharge phase until the opening of the relief valves. The 14 coil pancakes cooled by alternating clockwise/counter-clockwise SHe flow, the radial plates and the case, the 96 case cooling channels, and the external cryogenic circuit up to the LHe bath are included in the model. The results of the analysis are discussed with particular reference to quench propagation in the winding, hot spot temperature and peak pressurization, mass flow rate evolution in the different system components. The accuracy of the analysis is guaranteed by suitable convergence studies. (C) 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

In particular, we describe the strategies, used in the numerical code BiM (J. Comput. Appl. Math. 2004;164-165:145-158), for deciding whether re-evaluating the Jacobian and/or the factorization involved in the non-linear splitting for solving the discrete problem.
