This paper presents an enhanced method for a self-sensing (Sensorless) Model Predictive Control (MPC) of Induction Motor (IM) supplied form two-level using state-space model. For the self-sensing process, the controller needs a proper position and speed observer. In this paper, the position and speed of the rotor are estimated based on Extended Kalman Filter (EKF). The proposed EKF is executed to achieve a small error in the estimation parameters of IM in transient and steady-state operation. Model predictive control uses all the mechanical and electrical variables to calculate a cost function for each switching state of the inverter. The voltage that achieves the lowest errors (lowest cost function) is selected to be applied in the next sampling interval. High level of flexibility is obtained using the proposed control technique over a wide speed range with a fast dynamic response. The proposed methodology is validated by simulation results to clarify the ability of the proposed control algorithm in different speed area.

Aiming at the problem of Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle (UCAV) air combat decision-making and maneuver optimization, an UCAV optimal decision method based on dynamic Bayesian network (DBN) is proposed. Firstly, The DBN maneuver recognition model is established based on the causal relationship between flight characteristic parameters and maneuver actions, and the target flight path is predicted according to the acquired attitude information and trajectory prediction model. Secondly, combined with the comprehensive analysis of other information, the air combat occupation decision is established, and the decision result is the functional index of maneuver optimization to be adopted by UCAV. Finally, used optimal control algorithm to calculate the optimal boot quantity iteratively. The simulation results prove the convergence and real-time performance of the control algorithm, it can meet the requirements of engineering application.

The aim of the paper is to solve the horizontal stabilization of a quadcopter on a Field Programmable Gate Array circuit. There are similar implementations, many of them implemented on microcontroller or embedded processors. Our implementation focuses on Zybo Development Board Zynq-7000 family, which integrates a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor and Xilinx 7-series FPGA logic. The essence of the work is the implementation in FPGA of the critical control loops: sensors reading, control algorithm, filters, motor control and remote control. One of the main aim of our project is to apply the implemented modules in education as well. High level control algorithm is proposed to be implemented on the embedded processor. The various subunits of the task are integrated in the Xilinx System Generator. Critical parts, the control and synchronization of the modules, are implemented in VHDL as finite state machine with datapath. Hardware co-simulation allows system parameter update and measurement evaluation during the operation and simplifies testing of implemented circuits. The paper details the measurements made under laboratory conditions for one degree of freedom of the system.

We present a novel approach for a cloud-based ride-height control for vehicles equipped with an air suspension. The objective of this approach is to improve both efficiency and comfort, especially on single obstacles, by including vehicle-to-vehicle or vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2X) information on the road ahead in the control algorithm. The focus of this paper is the methodology of data processing on a cloud backend and includes three steps: pre-processing, clustering and allocation of streets to the clusters. In the first step, the database is reduced to obstacles relevant for driving comfort. The second step is to find clusters with a high density of obstacles on a road condition map. Finally, the probability of hitting an obstacle is calculated for each road in the area of a cluster, taking the characteristics and the topology of the road network into account. Example data is used to proof the functionality of the method. The proposed method seems to be a suitable approach for big data applications and might improve a vehicle ride-height control with regard to comfort and efficiency.

Device-to-Device (D2D) is a promising 5g Internet of Things communication scheme. Green Internet of Things (IOT) with low energy consumption is an important research topic at present. The most important problem is how to allocate resources and control power. Based on the traditional algorithm based on graph theory coloring principle, this paper proposes a resource allocation algorithm which combines power control and node priority calculation, and optimizes the communication index as a whole. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can improve the performance of delay, fairness and throughput while maintaining low power consumption.

Allowing item review in computerized adaptive testing (CAT) is getting more attention in the educational measurement field as more and more testing programs adopt CAT. The research literature has shown that allowing item review in an educational test could result in more accurate estimates of examinees' abilities. The practice of item review in CAT, however, is hindered by the potential danger of test-manipulation strategies. To provide review opportunities to examinees while minimizing the effect of test-manipulation strategies, researchers have proposed different algorithms to implement CAT with restricted revision options. In this article, we propose and evaluate a new method that implements CAT without any restriction on item review. In particular, we evaluate the new method in terms of the accuracy on ability estimates and the robustness against test-manipulation strategies. This study shows that the newly proposed method is promising in a win-win situation: examinees have full freedom to review and change answers, and the impacts of test-manipulation strategies are undermined.

In wind farms, wake interaction leads to losses in power capture and accelerated structural degradation when compared to freestanding turbines. One method to reduce wake losses is by misaligning the rotor with the incoming flow using its yaw actuator, thereby laterally deflecting the wake away from downstream turbines. However, this demands an accurate and computationally tractable model of the wind farm dynamics. This problem calls for a closed-loop solution. This tutorial paper fills the scientific gap by demonstrating the full closed-loop controller synthesis cycle using a steady-state surrogate model. Furthermore, a novel, computationally efficient and modular communication interface is presented that enables researchers to straight-forwardly test their control algorithms in large-eddy simulations. High-fidelity simulations of a 9-turbine farm show a power production increase of up to 11% using the proposed closed-loop controller compared to traditional, greedy wind farm operation.

The hybrid combination of photovoltaic (PV) panels and energy storage systems (ESS) has become popular in PV power plants (PVPPs), in order to comply with new grid codes and standards and provide grid support functionalities. A shaping strategy of the dc-link voltage of the PVPP, the same as the voltage reference of the grid-connected inverter, is proposed in this paper. The main contribution of the proposed control algorithm is to simultaneously achieve several control aspects, i.e., a) shaping the dc-link voltage same as the required voltage reference and reduces the inverter switching, which reduces the switching losses, b) smoothing the injected power to the grid thanks to the ESS, and c) Improving the harmonic performance of the grid-connected inverter that reduces the size of the grid-connection filter. The performance of the proposed control algorithm is verified on a hybrid PV-ESS simulation platform under various operational conditions and results are compared with the conventional solutions.
