The paper describes analysis and simulation results of the soft switching pulse-width modulated (PWM) high-frequency dc-dc full-bridge converter with half-controlled full-bridge output rectifier. Active switches on the secondary side together with the newly designed non-dissipative turn-off snubber and control algorithm provide zero-current and zero-voltage switching for the primary side IGBT transistors. The turn-off snubber also provides zero-voltage turn-off for the secondary side transistors of the half-controlled full-bridge rectifier. The principle of operation is verified by simulation of a 2 kW, 50 kHz model of the proposed dc-dc converter.

Fast growing power system network requires highly precise control on system parameters. Nowadays, Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) has got vital importance for attaining this goal. The series FACTS controllers can improve power flow and effectively damp out the oscillations in an interconnected system. Static Synchronous Series Compensators (SSSC) consists of a three phase Voltage Source Converter (VSC) coupled to a DC link capacitor. The SSSC is maintaining overall transmission line impedance by injecting a voltage phase shifted by 90° with the line current. The dynamic equations governing VSC operation is nonlinear in nature. So nonlinear control techniques are best suited for wider operating conditions. Input-Output Feedback Linearizaton (IOFL) technique is a proficient nonlinear controller can feasibly work with a nonlinear model of SSSC. The IEEE 5 bus system is selected as the test system for proving the relevancy of the control algorithm under steady state and dynamic conditions. The power flow improvement has been observed in IEEE 5 bus system with SSSC. The results also imply that the unique robust nature of IOFL control when compared with PI controller for procuring the desired performance indices.

Every alignment algorithm consists of two orthogonal components: an objective function M measuring the quality of an alignment, and a search algorithm that explores the space of alignments looking for ones scoring well according to M. We introduce a new search algorithm called SANA (Simulated Annealing Network Aligner) and apply it to protein-protein interaction networks using S-3 as the topological measure. Compared against 12 recent algorithms, SANA produces 5-10 times as many correct node pairings as the others when the correct answer is known. We expose an anti-correlation in many existing aligners between their ability to produce good topological vs. functional similarity scores, whereas SANA usually outscores other methods in both measures. If given the perfect objective function encoding the identity mapping, SANA quickly converges to the perfect solution while many other algorithms falter. We observe that when aligning networks with a known mapping and optimizing only S-3, SANA creates alignments that are not perfect and yet whose S-3 scores match that of the perfect alignment. We call this phenomenon saturation of the topological score. Saturation implies that a measure's correlation with alignment correctness falters before the perfect alignment is reached. This, combined with SANA's ability to produce the perfect alignment if given the perfect objective function, suggests that better objective functions may lead to dramatically better alignments. We conclude that future work should focus on finding better objective functions, and offer SANA as the search algorithm of choice.

Various types of autonomous mobile robots have found their place in many applications related with surveillance, transportation, inspection, and other problems. This paper is focused on the design of an algorithm for decoupling multivariable systems based on adaptive fuzzy-neural control and its application to control of autonomous mobile robots. Adaptive tuned Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy-neural PID controller for compensation of friction and disturbance effects during the trajectory tracking control of a non-holonomic mobile robot is proposed. The parameters of the adaptive controller are updated according the introduced on-line learning algorithm. Performed simulation experiments demonstrate the effect of the developed control algorithm on the trajectory tracking performance of a mobile robot.

Humans walking seems simple, but this process is naturally complicated with extremely nonlinear dynamics as a pendulum links represent the thigh and the shank of the human. To acquire a complete motion of all muscles, it is required to accomplish two control actions applied at the joints. Two control approaches which are sliding mode control and H 2 control are combined in this work to control the human swing leg system. The proposed mixed H 2 Sliding Mode Controller (H 2 /SMC) is a new control algorithm conducted to give better performance than if only one of them is used. The results show that the proposed controller can effectively achieve more desirable performance and robustness.
