Distributed energy generation in the form of microgrids and small scale hybrid power plants can be an effective way to integrate intermittent renewable energy sources into the current electricity system. In order to maximize the effectiveness of these systems sophisticated control strategies are required. In this paper we present a power flow optimization controller for a grid connected microgrid consisting of solar PV, battery storage, thermal generation, and a local electrical load. The controller is based on a mixed integer linear program (MILP) applied in a model predictive control framework (MPC). The controller formulation improves on existing work by incorporating a method for guaranteeing recursive feasibility and battery state of charge constraint satisfaction in the presence of bounded disturbances. A simulation study is used to validate the control algorithm and demonstrate the performance benefits associated with using a fast controller update rate.

This book summarizes the state-of-the-art in unsupervised learning. In this paper, a novel assembling omni-directional mobile robot is designed for assemble work and adapting to confined space in the automated factories. In order to complete the assembly operation tasks more precisely, a new trajectory tracking method based on infrared array module is proposed in the control system of the robot. The different patterns of the infrared array and trajectory width are optimized for getting more trajectory tracking accuracy. Further, the trajectory tracking control algorithm is achieved. And trajectory tracking experiment is performed on the robot prototype to verify the proposed tracking method.

A high efficient time-shift correlation algorithm was proposed to deal with the peak time uncertainty of P300 evoked potential for a P300-based brain-computer interface (BCI). The time-shift correlation series data were collected as the input nodes of an artificial neural network (ANN), and the classification of four LED visual stimuli was selected as the output node. Two operating modes, including fast-recognition mode (FM) and accuracy-recognition mode (AM), were realized. The proposed BCI system was implemented on an embedded system for commanding an adult-size humanoid robot to evaluate the performance from investigating the ground truth trajectories of the humanoid robot. When the humanoid robot walked in a spacious area, the FM was used to control the robot with a higher information transfer rate (ITR). When the robot walked in a crowded area, the AM was used for high accuracy of recognition to reduce the risk of collision. The experimental results showed that, in 100 trials, the accuracy rate of FM was 87.8% and the average ITR was 52.73 bits/min. In addition, the accuracy rate was improved to 92% for the AM, and the average ITR decreased to 31.27 bits/min. due to strict recognition constraints.

With six-rotor aircraft attitude control as the research object, it's model is formulated, and the attitude control algorithm based on cascade PID controller is proposed. The effectiveness of the algorithm is verified by simulation with MATLAB. On this basis, by using the Mahony complementary filtering algorithm for posture estimation, the physical verification of cascade PID controller is carried out. The simulation and experimental results show that the cascade PID controller has good performance on the attitude control of the six-rotor aircraft, the position tracking response is fast, the steady error is little, and the performance of the aircraft is stable.

The internet data center is growing swiftly in recent years as the Cloud computing is becoming popular. An internet data center is an apt example of a distributed network with dynamic loads, and a load balancing algorithm is needed in a data center to manage and distribute the loading to all server nodes appropriately. The implementation of a load balancer brings benefits to both the data center owner and Cloud users as it prolongs the lifespan of servers and improve the quality of service. To design a load balancing algorithm, various existing algorithms are studied. An average consensus algorithm is proposed for implementation in a network of server nodes. For verification purposes, the proposed algorithm is tested with various network topologies for its adaptability to distributed communication variance to the demand for scalability. The performance results are obtained through a series of experimental simulations;the results are then presented and analyzed in comparison to the conventional algorithm. The upper limb rehabilitation robot of end-traction type, because of complex working environment, it is very easy to collide with other objects and cause accidents. A loop-locked control algorithm for redundant upper limb rehabilitation robot is proposed in this paper and the algorithm is based on the transformation of master-slave task. It achieves the switch of the task of obstacle avoidance and the task of the desired trajectory tracking by monitoring the minimum distance between the mechanical arm and the obstacle, thus it can solve the conflict between obstacle avoidance and desired trajectory tracking. There is error of task space unavoidably when we get each joint angular through numerical integration, based on this, this article introduces a loop-locked control about the actual and expected locations of end effector in order to overcome these drawbacks. In addition, the algorithm is also effective for many obstacles and dynamic obstacle. Finally, the algorithm is verified by the simulation experiment of planar redundant robot with three degrees of freedom. The results show that the distance between the manipulator arm and the obstacle is always closed to or greater than the threshold, and when mechanical arm is away from the obstacle, the end of the mechanical arm can track the desired trajectory with high accuracy. The algorithm is also effective for many obstacles and dynamic obstacle.

The authors propose a variational art algorithm: a virtual system-based optimization algorithm developed for generating images. Observing that the topology optimization method used for multiphysics system design can produce two- or three-dimensional layouts without baselines, the authors propose to expand it beyond engineering applications for generating images. They have devised a virtual physical system-a heat-path system-that "interprets" the optimization-based process of image generation as the simultaneous drawing of multiple strokes in a painting.

The early Internet witnessed the flourishing of a digitally networked public sphere in which many people, including dissidents who had little to no access to mass media, found a voice as well as a place to connect with one another. As the Internet matures, its initial decentralized form has been increasingly replaced by a small number of ad-financed platforms, such as Facebook and Google, which structure the online experience of billions of people. These platforms often design, control, influence, and "optimize" the user experience according to their own internal values and priorities, sometimes using emergent methods such as algorithmic filtering and computational inference of private traits from computational social science. The shift to a small number of controlling platforms stems from a variety of dynamics, including network effects and the attractions of easier-to-use, closed platforms. This article considers these developments and their consequences for the vitality of the public sphere.
