Solar observations are performed over an extended field of view(FoV) and the isoplanatic patch which conventional adaptive optics (AO) provides diffraction limited resolution is a severe limitation. Multi-conjugate Adaptive Optics (MCAO) can be used to extend the corrected FoV of AO system. Compared to AO, MCAO which usually utilizes a wide-field Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor to control multiple deformable mirrors(DMs) is more complicated. Because the Sun is an extended object, correlation algorithms are applied to detect gradients in solar MCAO system. Moreover, due to the fast evolving daytime seeing conditions and the fact that much science has to be done at visible wavelengths, a very high closed-loop bandwidth is also required. The computation and delay development of the realtime controller(RTC) in solar MCAO system is more challenging than that in night-time MCAO system. This paper reviews the solar MCAO techniques and systems in the world, especially emphasizes the framework and implementation of the RTC. The development of MCAO in China is also introduced. An outlook of the RTC for the solar MCAO system in development is given.

Biometric systems are becoming important since they provide efficient and more reliable means of human identity verification. Gait Recognition has created much interest in computer vision society over the last few years. In this paper, we have presented a Gait based human identification system using skeleton data acquired by using Microsoft Kinect sensor. The sensor acts as a digital eye which takes the color information as well as depth information through IR sensor. The static and dynamic features of each individual are extracted using the skeleton information. Classification is performed using two different algorithms. First is the Levenberg-Marquardt back propagation algorithm, second is the correlation algorithm. 90% recognition rate is achieved with correlation algorithm where as for Levenberg-Marquardt back propagation algorithm proposed system is able to achieve a recognition rate of 94% for 5 persons with fixed Kinect sensor setup.

The inductive loop detector (ILD), since its introduction in the early 1960s has become the most widely used sensor in a traffic management system. Magnetic signature of the vehicle collected from ILD may be used, among others applications, for high resolution vehicle classification or vehicle re-identification. The ILD is the example of sensor with aperture which means that the information about vehicle geometry is, "masked" in magnetic signature due to the averaging properties of ILD. Quantitatively this process is characterized by spatial transfer function (spatial impulse response) of the sensor. Recovery of information from the signal is conditioned by the knowledge of this transfer function. This paper concerns the estimation of spatial impulse response of inductive loop detectors. The correlation method and pseudorandom binary (PRB) signal was applied to find a solution to this problem. The method was verified for detector in scale, during laboratory tests. The achieved results are satisfactory and justifies the continuation of research aimed at application of the proposed method to ILDs embedded in a roadway and cooperating with the traffic parameters measurement systems.

The paper deals with utilization of the laser rangefinder for navigation and mapping of unknown indoor environment. Navigation algorithm is based on two pictures comparison of unknown space and gain of the correlation function maximum. The position change (Delta x, Delta y) of the rangefinder is calculated as a maximum of correlation function. The goal is to improve the accuracy of odometric and inertial methods for localization and navigation of robot system in indoor environment.

Position fix in terrain referenced navigation using statistical verification

In this study, a method for retaining the uniqueness of terrain shape and updating using a t-test is proposed using a batch processing algorithm. Using a correlation algorithm, the batch processing algorithm provides a position fix which is then utilised as input to a Kalman filter to compensate for navigation error in a terrain referenced navigation (TRN) system. However, a positional false fix can occur over flat or repetitive terrain, which then causes the navigation solution to diverge. The aim of this study is to prevent the batch processing algorithm from providing a positional false fix by extending the profile length to allow it to incorporate a uniqueness of terrain. A method for reducing computation time is also proposed using an error covariance of measurement. In addition, the use of a t-test is proposed to help provide a stable navigation solution. Numerical simulations are performed to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, and the results show that the proposed method performs better than a general batch processing TRN.

Enhanced network speed and the appearance of various applications have recently resulted in the rapid increase of Internet users and the explosive growth of network traffic. Under this circumstance, Internet users are eager to receive reliable and Quality of Service (QoS)-guaranteed services. To provide reliable network services, network managers need to perform control measures involving dropping or blocking each traffic type. To manage a traffic type, it is necessary to rapidly measure and correctly analyze Internet traffic as well as classify network traffic according to applications. Such traffic classification result provides basic information for ensuring service-specific QoS. Several traffic classification methodologies have been introduced;however, there has been no favorable method in achieving optimal performance in terms of accuracy, completeness, and applicability in a real network environment. In this paper, we propose a method to classify Internet traffic as the first step to provide stable network services. We integrate the existing methodologies to compensate their weaknesses and to improve the overall accuracy and completeness of the classification. We prioritize the existing methodologies, which complement each other, in our integrated classification system.

In order to develop north seeking system with strong anti-interference ability, the influence caused by the swaying base on the performance of north seeker was investigated. The influence of sinusoidal signal of gyros and tilt sensor's output was analyzed based on four-position north seeking system which was consisted of a single axis gyro and a tilt sensor. Fiber optic gyros and tilt sensor are interference by the same vibration signal, according to the relationship between the output signal of gyro and the angle sensor, a PI controller was designed to compensate the gyro's output error. This real time compensation can effectively improve the north seeking accuracy and speed without complicated calculation or external reference signal. The north seeking accuracy is better than 0.03 degrees. Simulation and actual north seeking result proved that this method significantly improves the north seeking performance in vibrant environment.
