An attention to a Li ion battery for electric vehicles has been attracted, but there are two huge problems: a short mileage and slow charging speed. Therefore, it is required to improve the specific capacity and electrical conductivity of the carbon material used for an anode and a conductive agent. To solve these problems, this study organized correlation analysis with descriptor vectors by collecting experimental properties including capacity and conductivity from 21 various types of carbon materials. Focusing on the flux of Li ion, it was found that the capacity was dependent on the intercalation of Li ions, which lead to propose the correlation equation based on the Hill equation. Furthermore, the intercalation occurred at the edge of basal plane lead an increase of the width of the gap between two graphene layers, followed by a diffusion through the basal plane, finally the expanded gap recovered its original width. Also, it was found that the variables which are sensitive to the conductivity are largely dependent on the defects and especially the number of graphene layers around the surface, which proposed a correlation equation that can predict the capacity and conductivity. To validate these functions, we checked the effectiveness of it with both experimental data from 27 previous studies and statistical method. As a result, it was confirmed enough to predict them. Finally, a candidate structure for improving the battery performance was proposed, thus our study aims to guide the exploration of electrode materials for LIBs.

Cosmological studies, in particular those relating to the large scale distribution of galaxies, have to cope with an extraordinary increase in data volume with the current and upcoming sky surveys. These usually involve the estimation of N-point correlation functions of galaxy properties. Due to the fact that the correlation functions are based on histogram construction, they have a high computational cost, which worsens with the ever growing size of the datasets and the standard sample. At the same time, correlation functions exhibit a high sensitivity to the accuracy of the estimation. Therefore, their implementations require maintaining a high accuracy within a reasonable processing time. GPU computing can be adopted to overcome the latter problem, but the standard implementation of the histogram construction on GPU lacks the appropriate accuracy for calculating the cosmological correlation functions. In this work, the bin recycling strategy is implemented and evaluated for the estimation of the Two-Point Angular correlation function. At the same time the lack of the appropriate accuracy in the calculation of diverse implementations of histogram construction on GPU is demonstrated. The bin recycling strategy for the Two-Point Angular correlation function outperforms other implementations while enabling the processing of a large number of galaxies. As a consequence of this work, an accuracy-aware GPU implementation of the Two-Point Angular correlation function is stated and evaluated to assure the correctness of the results.

This work is devoted to studying and clarifying the mechanism for transforming the shapes of the correlation function received from a target in a noise signal for a 3mm wavelength radar. The relevance of considering this issue is due to the fact that the features of such transformation observed in practice make it difficult to ensure the potential spatial resolution of closely located small objects or elements of spatially distributed targets, and also worsen the possibility of their identification. As a result of a comparison of experimentally obtained results with the results of theoretical modeling, it is shown that the shape of the correlation function in a noise radar with a given frequency response (FrR) of the receiving path significantly depends on the results of the phase addition of signals received from target elements located in the pulse volume of the radiation pattern (RP) spot. To study these features, the effectiveness of an approach based on the use of shaping filters is demonstrated and the possibility of adequately describing, using such a model, the processes of interaction of a noise pulse signal with various types of targets and hardware parameters of the radar is shown.

This paper mainly focus on providing an auditory localization unit for robots. Due to auditory localization ability, human beings can turn their face to face the speaker when they are communicating with each other. This action can make communication more efficient and have a better mutual understanding. For robots, this ability will improve quality of their imaging processing and enhance voice recognition. In this paper, we designed a two-sensor auditory localization unit for robots. Firstly, we analyzed the mathematical model of different sound field, the far field and near field. Based on that, we analyzed features of received signal, for far sound field, we designed cross-correlation function algorithm to localize direction of the sound source using phase delay information, for near sound field, we designed cross-correlation function with amplitude attenuation information algorithm to get exact two-dimension location information. According to the results of simulation we made our prototype and based on the test results we got our actual performance data.

One of the problems arising in Time-Domain THz spectroscopy for the problem of security is the developing the criteria for assessment of probability for the detection and identification of the explosive and drugs. We analyze the efficiency of using the correlation function and another functional (more exactly, spectral norm) for this aim. These criteria are applied to spectral lines dynamics. For increasing the reliability of the assessment we subtract the averaged value of THz signal during time of analysis of the signal: it means deleting the constant from this part of the signal. Because of this, we can increase the contrast of assessment. We compare application of the Fourier-Gabor transform with unbounded (for example, Gaussian) window, which slides along the signal, for finding the spectral lines dynamics with application of the Fourier transform in short time interval (FTST), in which the Fourier transform is applied to parts of the signals, for the same aim. These methods are close each to other. Nevertheless, they differ by series of frequencies which they use. It is important for practice that the optimal window shape depends on chosen method for obtaining the spectral dynamics. The probability enhancements if we can find the train of pulses with different frequencies, which follow sequentially. We show that there is possibility to get pure spectral lines dynamics even under the condition of distorted spectrum of the substance response on the action of the THz pulse.

We propose an intra-channel nonlinearity ( NL) estimation method for the first time in a 28Gbaud polarization-multiplexed 16 Quadrature Amplitude Modulation ( PM-16QAM) system, by correcting high order statistical moments based ( HOSMB) optical signal-to-noise ratio ( OSNR) estimation method with correlation functions and a calibration factor. Besides, the calibration factor is explored the relationships with transmission distances and channel launched powers. This proposed estimation method is demonstrated to be more accurate than existing estimation methods and functions well in highly nonlinear systems. It has kept estimation errors under 0.8dB with actual OSNR ranging 18-28dB, channel launched power ranging from -4dBm to 4dBm and transmission distances ranging 400-2000km.

The presence detection of communication signals is the precondition and basis of information retrieval, which plays an important role in the signal processing. A new algorithm based on the fluctuation of the correlation function of the received signals in time domain is proposed. The algorithm, employing the first-order fluctuation function of the correlation function as the detection function and combining with the SDM-based adaptive threshold estimation method also proposed in this paper, provides an effective solution to the detection problems of short burst or short burst-interval signals.

We investigate a new approach for the THz image quality enhancing using correlation function (convolution function) between Fourier transform of the image under consideration and Fourier transform of a standard image. Main difficulty of this approach concludes in choosing of the standard image in that way to see in its Fourier spectrum the spectrum harmonics of well-known forbidden objects. We compare the results of computer processing based on developing approach with the results which were obtained early using various other approaches. We discuss one more possibility to remove noise from background of the image as well as possibility of the image decomposition and its reconstruction.

The analysis of scientific data, specially in different kinds of cosmological studies, has to deal with the increment in data volume. These studies include the calculation of correlation functions such as the Two-point Three-Dimensional correlation function. To get the final estimator value for these functions, it is necessary to construct histograms for storing large number counts. Histograms are a very common way of representing data and summarizing information in science. However, they have a high computational cost, which is worsened by the increase of the standard sample size. This increment leads directly to two problems: first of all, the large processing time and, secondly, the lack of accuracy of the result. Therefore, the implementations of correlation functions need to maintain high accuracy and affordable processing times. In order to reduce the high processing times, GPU computing is being widely used. In this work, the binrecycling strategy is implemented and evaluated in the Two-Point Three-Dimensional correlation function. We show that this implementation outperforms others which also correctly process a large number of galaxies. As a result of this work, an accuracy-aware implementation of the Two-Point Three-Dimensional correlation function on GPU is described and evaluated to ensure the correctness of the results.

A quantum field-theoretical model which describes a spatially nonhomogeneous one-dimensional nonrelativistic repulsive Bose gas in an external harmonic potential is considered. The two-point thermal correlation function of the Bose gas is calculated in the framework of the functional integration approach. The calculations are done in the coordinate representation. The method of successive integration first over the “high-energy” functional variables and then over the “low-energy” ones is used. The effective action functional for the low-energy variables is calculated in one-loop approximation. The functional integral representation for the correlation function is obtained in terms of the low-energy variables and is estimated with the help of stationary phase approximation. The asymptotics of the correlation function is studied in the limit when the temperature tends to zero while the volume occupied by the nonhomogeneous Bose gas increases infinitely. It is demonstrated that the behavior of the thermal correlation function in this limit is power-like and is governed by the critical exponent that depends on the spatial and thermal arguments. © 2006 American Mathematical Society.
