Aiming at the problems of small separation range and low separation rate in the intelligent separation of coal and gangue, a threshold separation method based on dual-energy X-ray technology is proposed. Low-energy original image, use ratio method to obtain R-value image, integrate R-value image and low-energy image information to fit the R-L curve of coal and gangue, count characteristic values and draw sample distribution maps, calculate the sorting threshold of coal and gangue, and realize coal and the sorting of gangue. The experimental results show that the threshold sorting algorithm is more effective in improving large-size materials than the traditional R-value recognition algorithm and R-L curve fitting algorithm, and the recognition rate of 150-300mm materials is as high as 96.99% and 92.32%.

Inspired by the concept of quantum entangled radars, the extraordinary and utterly innovative concept of no-detectors microscope-imaging by the implementation of entangled quantum particles such as electrons as the probe of the microscope is touched on. Instead of simultaneous measurement of two entangled particles, we propose repetitive measuring idler electrons in two conditions;when the object does not reflect the signal that means there is an entanglement exists. Otherwise, when entanglement is broken or degraded, it means a reflection or absorption of the signal electron. It is showed that the repetitive measurement of entanglement among a sequence of idlers in the two above mentioned conditions approaches different values. When entanglement measurement showed the collapse of entanglement, it concludes the hitting of the probe particle to the object has happened. The number of broken entanglement between idle electrons is considered proportional to the number of detected electrons by the detector and imaging is accomplished by this assumption. For a 3D visualization of the object, a curve fitting algorithm available in the field of Computer Science is applied. The fitted curve illustrates an approximate surface of the object.

The construction of wavefront phase plays a critical role in focusing light through turbid media. We introduce the curve fitting algorithm (CFA) into the feedback control procedure for wavefront optimization. Unlike the existing continuous sequential algorithm (CSA), the CFA locates the optimal phase by fitting a curve to the measured signals. Simulation results show that, similar to the genetic algorithm (GA), the proposed CFA technique is far less susceptible to the experimental noise than the CSA. Furthermore, only three measurements of feedback signals are enough for CFA to fit the optimal phase while obtaining a higher focal intensity than the CSA and the GA, dramatically shortening the optimization time by a factor of 3 compared with the CSA and the GA. The proposed CFA approach can be applied to enhance the focus intensity and boost the focusing speed in the fields of biological imaging, particle trapping, laser therapy, and so on, and might help to focus light through dynamic turbid media. EBT2 Film is a convenient dosimetry quality assurance (QA) tool with high 2D dosimetry resolution and a self development property for use in verifications of radiation therapy treatment planning and special projects;however, the user will suffer from a relatively higher degree of uncertainty (more than +/- 6% by Hartmann el. al. [29]), and the trouble of cutting one piece of film into small pieces and then reintegrating them each Lime. To prevent this tedious cutting work, and save calibration time and budget, a dose range analysis is presented in this study for EBT2 film calibration using the Percentage-Depth-Dose (PDD) method. Different combinations of the three dose ranges, 9-26 cGy, 33-97 cGy and 109-320 cGy, with two types of curve fitting algorithms, film pixel values and net optical densities converting into doses, were tested and compared. With the lowest error and acceptable inaccuracy of less than 3 cGy for the clinical close range (9-320 cGy), a single film calibrated by the net optical density algorithm with the dose range 109-320 cGy was suggested for routine calibration. A method and system for measuring multiple temperature points using two wire configuration Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTD) for temperature range -100 degrees C to +100 degrees C is mainly composed of the Micro Controller Unit (MCU), analog-digital converter (ADC), reference Voltage source, Multiplexers (MUX) and resistance network including the RTD temperature sensors. The RTDs are sequentially scanned using a reference/constant voltage source, and resistance values of the RTDs are calculated based on the voltage measured across the RTDs and the current sensing resistor. Improving the precision of temperature measurement is based on a line fittingalgorithm-Newton's divided differences interpolation polynomial based on three reference resistor values representing two extreme end points and the center point of the temperature range for which the system is made. The test results show that the device temperature measurement precision can reach +/- 0.02 degrees C, has the advantage of using a single quartic function for the entire temperature range -100 degrees C to +100 degrees C with dynamic calibration to address errors related to in-circuit resistance, tolerance, temperature coefficient, linearity and offset errors in the circuit, and also supports detection of degradation of linearity and offset in the circuit because of the aging factor.

This paper describes a method of non-contact distance measurement in high temperature environments by video extensometer. In order to detect the distance of a pair of marked lines on the surface of the specimen, dual fittingalgorithms are proposed. The first fitting method which is least squares curvefitting utilizes hyperbolic tangent function to fit a serial of discrete gray level points to a curve. So a set of edge points on the marked line was located. The second is to use orthogonal linear least squares method to fit two sets of edge points to two lines respectively. After the two lines are located, the distance of two lines can be computed. A video extensometer system which enables a high temperature distance measurement up to 1200 degrees C is presented and demonstrated by experimental measurements.

A general version of a hybrid method for parameter estimation is presented with a theoretical support and an illustrative example of application. This method consists of a curve fitting algorithm that takes the initial estimate of the parameterization from an artificial neural network. The idea is to improve the convergence of the algorithm to the sought parameterization using a close initial estimate. The motivation arises from biomedical problems where one is interested in obtaining a meaningful estimate so that it can be used for both description and prediction purposes. Two strategies are proposed for the application of the hybrid method: one is of general applicability, the other is intended for systems defined by the series connection of various blocks. An optical system based on shearing interference using diffraction grating was applied, to carry out the aberration inspection process of the pickup lens of a digital versatile disc (DVD) at high speed. An algorithm was devised that processes points allocated on certain lines on a fringe and fits relations between the distance from basis point to the measurement points, and phase data of the fringe at these points to an equation of higher degree as curvefitting. Aberration was numerically estimated as the size of a certain coefficient. Simulation showed that this algorithm could detect all 5th order aberrations independently. An inspection system developed based on this optical system and algorithm detected aberration as accurately as a conventional interferometer that has been used as the standard, attaining an inspection time of 1/10-1/20. In comparison with the spot method, this system has 5th order aberration detecting ability and 1/3 the inspection time.
