Spectral light field imaging systems have gained emerging attention for their capacity to capture multidimensional spatial-spectral data in a single snapshot. However, the spectral data poses significant challenges to image decoding methods for existing light field imaging due to the aberrations and spectral aliasing. To resolve these challenges, in this study, a microlens array-based light field spectral imaging system is designed and assembled. A novel joint decoding method incorporating aberration correction for spatial-spectral data is proposed. The proposed method is implemented through a novel set of aberrations assessment and correction procedures for both local and global non-uniform aberrations. An improved light field digital refocusing method is used to overcome the spectral aliasing in refocusing the spectral light field images, enabling the reconstruction of depth and spectral intensity distribution of a target scene. Experimental verification is conducted on a uniform light source and real-world imagery. Results demonstrate that the proposed method can provide accurate aberration correction and reconstruction of the spectral intensity distribution of the targeted scene under different depths, thus showing the effectiveness of the proposed light field spectrometer and spatial-spectral joint decoding method for real-world imagery.

Optical spectroscopy and imaging techniques play important roles in many fields such as disease diagnosis, biological study, information technology, optical science, and materials science. Over the past decade, machine learning (ML) has proved promising in decoding complex data, enabling rapid and accurate analysis of optical spectra and images. This review aims to shed light on various ML algorithms for optical data analysis with a focus on their applications in a wide range of fields. The goal of this work is to sketch the validity of ML-based optical data decoding. The review concludes with an outlook on unaddressed problems and opportunities in this emerging subject that interfaces optics, data science, and ML.

Sparse Superimposed Vector Transmission for Short-Packet High-Mobility Communication

A sparse superimposed vector transmission (SSVT) scheme is proposed for short-packet ultra-reliable and low-latency communications (URLLC) in high-mobility scenarios. Unlike conventional pilot-less sparse vector coding (SVC) schemes, a small number of pilots are superimposed on top of data vector in SSVT to track time-varying channels, leading to high spectral efficiency. Two joint channel estimation and data decoding algorithms, called iterative interference cancellation (IIC) and iterative data-aided (IDA), are proposed to recover data from the received signal. The IIC algorithm accurately decodes data by iteratively canceling pilot and data interference, while the IDA algorithm further refines channel estimation by treating previously decoded data as pseudo-pilots. Simulation results show that the proposed SSVT scheme significantly outperforms conventional SVC schemes in terms of block error rate (BLER), and the proposed IIC and IDA algorithms show fast convergence speed.

Research on green building energy consumption monitoring method based on discrete cuckoo algorithm

In order to overcome the problems of long instruction transmission period and poor accuracy of data connection in traditional monitoring methods, an energy consumption monitoring method for green building based on discrete cuckoo algorithm is proposed. Through the application of embedded system, it can collect green building's energy consumption data and establish a database, and then use the discrete cuckoo algorithm to decode the energy consumption data. According to the simulation experiment data, it can be seen that the daily power consumption and water consumption of green buildings collected by this method are closest to the actual results, which proves that the monitoring error of this method is small;the average value of the monitoring instruction transmission period is 7.8 s;and the accuracy of the data connection is always maintained above 90%. It shows that the method can effectively improve the monitoring effect of green building energy consumption.

Radio identification (RFID) systems based on chipless tags, outperforms traditional RFID systems in terms of costs, and the actual challenge in the former systems is to improve the quantity of bits written in a tag. Actually, the main information encoding technique is based on the generation of a particular signature in the spectrum of the backscattered signal. Chipless tags based spectral signature encode data using resonant structures, to work like band reject filters, designed to resonate at certain frequencies. Information is written as a combination of nulls in the frequency domain. Based in the idea of simultaneously use the horizontal and vertical polarization of an antenna, in this paper we analyze the radar cross-section (RCS) and electric field of elements of chipless RFID tags based on biostatic RCS. Using electromagnetic simulation software for electric field and RCS analysis, it was observed that it is possible to write data to improve the number of bits using two simultaneous polarizations.

Chipless RFID systems appears as an alternative to reduce the costs of RFID systems by using tags without a chip. The design of these new systems impose some challenges as the design of a tag, processing the signal reflected by the tag, among others. In this paper we consider the problem of collisions in the signal reflected simultaneously by various tags, and the recovery of information in these collided signals. The problem is treated by processing the signals received by the reader using the Fractional Fourier Transform - FrFT and the binary information is recovered using the minimum distance detection concepts. Presented simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

In order to avoid rework and improve the efficiency of GPS static observation, it is very important to control the quality of GPS data in real time. On the basis of analysis of observation data decoding and observation data quality indices, a new program was compiled for decoding the original observation data and calculating and analyzing the quality indices such as the multipath effect and cycle slips etc. and the quality indices can be displayed intuitively by graphics in real-time. Moreover, the experimental verification is carried out with the engineering practice, and the results proved the correctness and reliability of the designed software RTQC, which can provide guidance and help for the practical work.

Analog pulse-based data telemetry is a novel technology that improves data transmission rate for spectrum efficient secure communication in high-volume wireless sensor applications. However, the analog pulse transmission technology suffers from proper orthogonal pulse generation, data modulation scheme, propagation media, and receiver detection techniques to decode the transmitted bits. This paper introduces a multi-bit data encoding scheme using a set of orthogonal pulses and their time delay factors. The energy-efficient pulse generation technique based on Modified Hermitian Polynomial is used to generate the orthogonal analog pulse set. The proposed analog pulse-based data compression and decompression schemes are validated using MATLAB Simulink packages. The results show that the proposed data modulation scheme increases the data transmission rate 1.5x n more compared to single bit transmission, where 'n' is the distinct pulse order, indicating the number of individual data channels. The proposed scheme shows an alternative solution for spectrum efficient wireless data transmission in high-density sensor networks.

A novel signaling scheme for iterative channel estimation and data decoding is proposed. In the proposed scheme, the occurrence probability of transmitted symbols is biased. A priori information about the bias is utilized for the initial channel estimation. The proposed scheme is based on parallel concatenation of two biased convolutional codes (BCCs), which are constructed as systematic recursive convolutional codes with state-dependent puncturing. The BCCs can be regarded as a joint coding scheme that determines the insertion positions of pilot symbols according to information bits. The proposed scheme is numerically shown to outperform conventional pilot-based schemes in the waterfall region, while it is inferior to the conventional schemes in the error-floor region.
