Current control implementation with deadbeat algorithm for three-phase current-source active power filter

An effective system control method is presented for applying a three-phase current-source PWM convertor with a deadbeat controller to active power filters (APFs). In the shunt-type configuration, the APF is controlled such that the current drown by the APF from the utility is equal to the current harmonics and reactive current required for the load. To attain the time-optimal response of the APF supply current, a two-dimensional deadbeat control scheme is applied to APF current control. To cancel both the delay in the two-dimensional deadbeat control scheme and the delay in DSP control strategy, an adaptive line enhancer (ALE) is introduced in order to predict the desired value of three sampling periods ahead. The ALE also brings robustness to the deadbeat control system. Owing to the ALE being in a transient state, the settling time is short. By comparison in a steady state, the total harmonic distortion ratio of source currents can be reduced as much as possible compared to the case that ideal identification of controlled system could be made. The experimental results obtained from a DSP-based APF are also reported. The compensating ability of this APF is very high in accuracy and responsiveness, although the modulation frequency is rather low.

The control of nonlinear process is the main problem in process industries which repeatedly show its nonlinear activity. In this paper the control action of nonlinear framework using Digital controller with deadbeat algorithm was presented. The Nonlinear process which has been considered for its application is conical tank system. System identification of this nonlinear method is made using mathematical modeling and it is approximated to a first order system. Simulation is carried out by the MATLAB software and its servo and regulatory operation is resolved. (C) 2015 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

In this article, an improved deadbeat control algorithm suitable for digital signal processor-based circuit implementation is proposed. The control algorithm allows the derivation of a nearly sine wave output current with a fixed switching frequency of a current-controlled voltage source inverter. Two low-pass output filters configurations are considered in this study: a simple inductance filter and an LCL-filter. By taking advantage of prior knowledge of the state variables' shape, the improved deadbeat control algorithm is based on a simple prediction model to derive the expected duty cycle needed to switch on and off the power switches. The control study of the grid-connected inverter with L and LCL output filters has been considered using a co-simulation approach with (Powersim Inc., Rockville, Maryland, USA) and MATLAB software (The MathWorks, Natick, Massachusetts, USA). The obtained results show the improvement of both shape quality and tracking accuracy of the output current quantified by low ripple content and a nearly unity power factor.

A direct torque control (DTC) strategy for dual three-phase induction motor drives is discussed in this paper. The induction machine has two sets of stator three-phase windings spatially shifted by 30 electrical degrees. The DTC strategy is based on a predictive algorithm and is implemented in a synchronous reference frame aligned with the machine stator flux vector. The advantages of the discussed control strategy are constant inverter switching frequency, good transient and steady-state performance, and low distortion of machine currents with respect to direct self-control (DSC) and other DTC schemes with variable switching frequency. Experimental results are presented for a 10-kW DTC dual three-phase induction motor drive prototype.

The paper presents an original method for Finite Time Response (FTR) control of the affine systems. The FTR property is specific to linear systems only, known in the literature as dead-beat algorithms. In this work, it is developed as a new procedure for the affine systems FTR synthesis, called the Equivalent Input Method (EIM). For this purpose it calculates an equivalent input which will determine, according to a quadratic criterion, the best approximation of the affine component. This way the system is approximated by an affine system with an input variable equal to the sum of the original input and the equivalent input, but having only a residual affine component. This residual affine component has a smaller norm than the initial affine component. Considering zero the residual affine component, a FTR linear system synthesis procedure is applied. In the real system, controlled by a FTR control law, the residual affine component creates at each step a disturbance that FTR algorithm seeks to cancel. This approach is justified by the fact that the disturbance residual affine component is much smaller in norm than the original affine component. Under certain circumstances, this residual affine component can be zero. The controllability and algorithm convergence is analyzed. The proposed EIM method can be applied also for nonlinear systems approximated by Piecewise Affine Subsystems (PWAS). An experimental platform has been designed in Matlab environment allowing implementation of various affine systems and their control algorithms. Simulation results are included to support the method presented in the paper.
