The distance-decay effect of molecular signals makes communication range a major challenge for diffusion-based Molecular Communication(MC).To solve this problem,the intermediate nano-machine is deployed as a relay between the transmitter and its intended receiver *** this work,we employ the Depleted Molecule Shift Keying(D-MoSK)to model a decode-and-forward(DF)relay communication *** closed-form expression of Bit Error Rate(BER)for the concerned DF relay with D-MoSK is ***,the maximum a posteriori probability,minimum error probability,and maximum likelihood schemes are formulated for data *** relationships between BER and other key parameters,including the number of released molecules,receiving radius,and relay position,are investigated in *** results show that the proposed scheme can improve communication reliability ***,the performance gain can be maximized by optimizing the position of the relay and the receiving radius.

Continuous transmit in cognitive radio systems: outage performance of selection decode-and-forward relay networks over Nakagami-m fading channels

Cognitive radio is a promising technology that uses radio spectrum opportunistically and efficiently. In this paper, we present the performance of 'Always transmit' strategy, which consists of allowing the cognitive source to transmit over all time slots and in any time slot. Thus, the cognitive source will be able to operate continuously whenever either the primary user is active or absent. The proposed strategy is projected into dual-hop communication systems with decode-and-forward and relay selection over independent but not necessarily identically distributed Nakagami-m fading channels. We derive the closed-form expressions of the outage probability, and we analyze the performance. Simulation results show that the strategy 'Always transmit + relay' outperforms other conventional cognitive radio strategies and the use of relays enhances the performance in deep fading channel.

In this paper, we consider multi-hop wireless networks with decode-and-forward relays. Intermediate relays have no fixed power supplies and thus need to replenish energy via wireless energy harvesting from the source signal. The technique of simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) is utilized between every two adjacent nodes to transport both information and energy. Three general protocols of SWIPT are considered: power-splitting (PS), time-switching (TS), and hybrid which is a combination of PS and TS protocols. For each protocol, we formulate optimization problems to decide optimal PS and TS ratios so as to maximize end-to-end throughput under two schemes. Scheme 1 allows different PS and TS ratios at each relay, and Scheme 2 uses uniform PS and TS ratios for all the relays. The proposed optimization problems are shown to be non-convex. With a series of transformations, we turn the proposed non-convex optimization problems to be convex ones. Insightful analysis of the system performance is presented in the part of numerical results.

Secure Resource Allocation and Scheduling for OFDMA decode-and-forward relay Networks

In this paper, we formulate an optimization problem for secure resource allocation and scheduling in orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) half-duplex decode-and-forward (DF) relay assisted networks. Our problem formulation takes into account artificial noise generation to combat a passive multiple antenna eavesdropper and the effects of imperfect channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT) in slow fading. The optimization problem is solved by dual decomposition which results in a highly scalable distributed iterative resource allocation algorithm. The packet data rate, secrecy data rate, power, and subcarrier allocation policies are optimized to maximize the average secrecy outage capacity (bit/s/Hz securely and successfully delivered to the users via relays). Simulation results illustrate that our proposed distributed iterative algorithm converges to the optimal solution in a small number of iterations and guarantees a non-zero secrecy data rate for given target secrecy outage and channel outage probability requirements.

As a low-cost and low-power-consumption passive reflector, intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) can make a significant rate improvement by building a programmable wireless environment. To improve the rate performance and coverage range of wireless networks, an IRS-aided decode-and-forward (DF) relay network is proposed with multiple antennas at relay station (RS). To achieve a high rate, an alternately iterative structure (AIS) of maximizing receive power (Max-RP) at RS is proposed to jointly optimize the beamforming vectors at RS and phase shifts at IRS. Considering its high-complexity, two low-complexity Max-RP schemes of null-space projection (NSP) plus maximum ratio combining (MRC) and IRS element selection (IRSES) plus MRC are presented to reduce this complexity, respectively. For the former, NSP is used to separate the reflected signal from IRS and the direct transmitted signal from source and MRC is adopted to combine the two signals at RS. For the latter, the basic concept of IRSES is as follows: IRS is partitioned into M subsets of elements and adjusting the phases of all elements per subset make all reflected signals and the direct signal from source phase alignment (PA) at the corresponding antenna of relay. Simulation results show that the proposed three methods perform much better than the existing network with single-antenna relay in terms of rate performance. In particular, a 85% rate gain over existing scheme is achieved in the high signal-to-noise ratio region. Moreover, it is verified that the positions of RS and IRS have a substantial impact on rate performance, and there exists an optimal positions of RS and IRS.

In this paper,we explore a cooperative decode-and-forward(DF)relay network comprised of a source,a relay,and a destination in the presence of an *** improve physical-layer security of the relay system,we propose a jamming aided decodeand-forward relay(JDFR)scheme combining the use of artificial noise and DF relaying which requires two stages to transmit a ***,in stage one,the source sends confidential message to the relay while the destination acts as a friendly jammer and transmits artificial noise to confound the *** stage two,the relay forwards its re-encoded message to the destination while the source emits artificial noise to confuse the *** addition,we analyze the security-reliability tradeoff(SRT)performance of the proposed JDFR scheme,where security and reliability are evaluated by deriving intercept probability(IP)and outage probability(OP),*** the purpose of comparison,SRT of the traditional decode-and-forward relay(TDFR)scheme is also *** results show that the SRT performance of the proposed JDFR scheme is better than that of the TDFR ***,it is shown that for the JDFR scheme,a better SRT performance can be obtained by the optimal power allocation(OPA)between the friendly jammer and user.

Sort-based relay selection algorithm for decode-and-forward relay system

In this paper, a sort-based relay selection algorithm is proposed for decode-and-forward wireless relay systems. The proposed algorithm can reduce computational complexity and system overhead in the relay selection for practical decode-and-forward wireless relay systems with multiple sources and multiple relays. This would be a very important improvement. Firstly, the sufficient and necessary conditions for a relay to be feasible to a source are derived. By adopting relay transmission via its feasible relay, the source can improve channel capacity compared to direct transmission. Then, a sort-based relay selection algorithm is proposed based on the sufficient and necessary conditions. In the proposed algorithm, each relay makes decision on its feasibility individually, but the final source-relay paring decision is made in a centralized manner. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can provide considerable system performance improvement over the existing algorithm. Especially at low signal-to-noise (SNR) region, the performance of the proposed algorithm almost reaches the optimal one.

A comprehensive analytical framework of dual-hop fixed decode-and-forward cooperative networks with multi-antenna relay and distributed spatial diversity is developed over generalized Nakagami-m fading channels. The effect of Rician fading for the relay-destination link has been of special interest. The multi-antenna relay employs selection combining (SC) and the destination adopts distributed SC. Analytical expressions for the cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the end-to-end signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) are derived and used to evaluate the bit error probability (BEP) for coherent and non-coherent binary modulation schemes in a unified manner. Numerical and simulation results are presented to illustrate the impact of the Rician K-factor and Nakagami-m parameter on the end-to-end performance.

In this paper, we consider adaptive quadratic amplitude modulation (QAM) for a cooperative network consists of a source, one decode-and-forward (DF) relay and a destination which are single antenna systems. For increasing the spectral efficiency of the system, we use adaptive modulation method for data transmission. We propose a new adaptive modulation scheme which has less complexity than available schemes. Then, we analyze average spectral efficiency (ASE), average bit error performance (ABEP) and outage probability of the proposed scheme. Computer simulation results corroborate our theoretical relations;furthermore, it shows that our proposed scheme has the same performance as maximum spectral efficiency scheme (MSES) with much lower complexity and has better performance than some other schemes.

Power allocation is a key issue for the application of relays in a communication system. With a proper power allocation strategy, the performance of the entire system can be improved and the overheads of relay would be reduced. However, in most cases, uniform power allocation (UPA) strategy is still widely utilized, which wastes the limited resources of the communication system and thus degrades the quality of service (QoS). Therefore, in this paper, we will compare optimal power allocation (OPA) strategy with UPA for the decode-and-forward (DF) relay station. Moreover, in this paper, the direct transmit link between the source and the destination will be considered. As a result of this consideration, a more convincible comparing result can be obtained. Finally, the better performance of OPA strategy over UPA strategy can be verified under a series of mathematical reasonings and simulations.
