Construction of an Exercise Intervention Program for Patients with Sarcopenic Obesity: A delphi method Study

Purpose: Construct an exercise intervention program for patients with sarcopenic obesity. Material and methods: Based on the COM-B theoretical model and evidence -based principles, the program was constructed using qualitative methods of literature analysis and delphi method. The delphi panel consisted of 15 experts from the fields of clinical medicine, rehabilitation medicine, medical technology, and nursing. Results: Fifteen experts were consulted, and the consultation recovery rate was 100%;the authority coefficient of the 1st round was 0.83, with coefficients of variation ranging from 0.00 to 0.27, and importance scores ranging from (4.13 +/- 1.13) to (5 +/- 0);the authority coefficient of the 2nd round was 0.82, with coefficients of variation ranging from 0.00 to 0.20, and importance scores ranging from (4.53 +/- 0.64) to (5 +/- 0);Kendall's harmony coefficient was 0.102, 0.115, respectively, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The constructed exercise intervention program for patients with sarcopenic obesity included 4 primary indicators, 12 secondary indicators, and 28 tertiary indicators. Conclusion: The constructed exercise intervention program for patients with sarcopenic obesity is scientific, feasible and generalizable, and can provide useful reference for related personnel to develop exercise programs for patients with sarcopenic obesity.

Context. In sub-Saharan Africa, there is no standardized approach to pediatric palliative care assessment. Because of this, there is a critical demand for evidence-based assessment tools that identify the specialized needs of children and their families requiring palliative care in developing countries. Objectives. To develop a standardized approach to pediatric palliative care (PPC) assessment that includes an individualized plan of care for use in sub-Saharan Africa. methods. A delphi method approach used five rounds to explore core elements that define the essential assessment attributes mandatory for providing excellence in PPC. Using the delphi method, the consensus from 11 PPC experts was obtained during four delphi rounds regarding the most important questions to include in a PPC assessment tool and plan of care. During the final delphi round 5, the expert consensus was confirmed in a separate group of 36 childhood cancer/palliative care clinical providers. Results. Five core elements were developed as the foundation for a PPC assessment. A symptom assessment tool was developed that includes 15 symptoms that PPC experts agreed occurred more than 65% of the time in their patients. Conclusion. The delphi method was an effective tool to develop a consensus on a PPC assessment tool to use with children and their families in sub-Saharan Africa. Construction of haemodialysis nursing-sensitive quality indicators based on Donabedian theory: A delphi method study

Aims To establish a sensitive, scientific and practical evaluation system for haemodialysis nursing and to provide a reference for the evaluation of haemodialysis nursing quality. Design Through a literature review and delphi method. method According to the literature review, a preliminary nursing-sensitive quality indicators for haemodialysis were established, and an expert survey questionnaire was designed. Finally, the evaluation system for the nursing-sensitive quality indicators was determined using the delphi method. Results Thirteen nursing-sensitive quality indicators for haemodialysis were finally constructed, including two structural indicators, three process indicators and eight outcome indicators. The effective recovery rate of the two rounds of expert survey questionnaires was 100%, the coefficient of judgement basis is 0.956, the coefficient of familiarity is 0.833, the coefficient of authority is 0.895, and the Kendall's harmony coefficients of the two rounds of expert consultation were 0.158 similar to 0.307 and 0.170 similar to 0.315, respectively, with statistical significance (p < .05). Clinical relevance In this study, the nursing-sensitive quality indicators for haemodialysis were developed by the delphi method and included structural indicators, outcome indicators and process indicators, which made up for some deficiencies noted in previous studies. The authors have provided a more reliable and comprehensive basis for evaluating the quality and safety of haemodialysis nursing in the future.

Recommendations on the Use of Moisturizing Products Prepared by Spanish Dermatologists Using the delphi method

Background and objective: Moisturizing products are widely used in conditions affecting skin hydration. However, the lack of scientific evidence leads to discrepancies and great variability in the recommendations used by different health professionals. The aim of this consensus document is to generate recommendations based on the evidence and experience of dermatologists to unify and facilitate the use of moisturizing products in the routine clinical practice. Materials and methods: A 49-statement questionnaire on moisturizing products was prepared and, then, arranged in 5 blocks: (1) concept, (2) characteristics, (3) frequency and quantity, (4) product use and areas of application, and (5) special populations. Twenty-two expert dermatologists in the management of patients with eczema answered to the survey using a 2-round delphi methodology (adding an item on the 2nd round). Results: Consensus was reached on 27 statements (54%), most (n = 23) via agreement. The highest level of agreement was reached in the blocks on quantity, product use and areas of application (77.8%), followed by the blocks on characteristics (73%) and frequency (62.5%). Regarding the blocks on concept and special populations, the level of consensus on the items proposed was 37.5% and 10%, respectively. Consensus on the use of emollients for xeroderma (71%) was higher vs atopic dermatitis (64%) and inflamed skin (33.3%). Conclusions: Consensus recommendations can help all prescribers and improve the available evidence regarding their use. (c) 2024 AEDV. Published by Elsevier Espana, S.L.U. Aim: The aim of this study was to establish an infection prevention and control strategy for nursing managements during surgical operations in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) ***: A delphi ***: Between November 2021 and March 2022, we first formulated a preliminary infection prevention and control strategy based on the literature review and institutional experience. Then, we applied delphi method and performed expert surveys to reach a final strategy for nursing managements during surgical operations in COVID-19 ***: The strategy included seven dimensions with 34 items. The positive coefficients of delphi experts in both surveys were 100%, indicating a high coordination among experts. The degree of authority and expert coordination coefficient were 0.91 and 0.097-0.213. After the second expert survey, value assignments for importance of each dimension and item were 4.21-5.00 and 4.21-4.76 points, respectively. The coefficients of variation for dimension and item were 0.09-0.19 and 0.05-0.19, *** or Public Contribution: Except the medical experts and research personnel, there was no other patient or public contribution involved in the study.

Development and validation of the national High-Risk Medicine Classification using the delphi method

Background: High-risk medicines (HRMs) are medicines that have a higher risk of causing severe consequences for the patient when used in error. Objective: This study aimed to develop a Finnish High-risk Medicine Classification (FIN-RiskMeds) to support healthcare professionals in HRM risk management. methods: The development of FIN-RiskMeds was coordinated by the Finnish Medicines Agency (Fimea) using the delphi consensus method. The preliminary list of HRMs was based on an inventory of existing HRM lists, literature, and the expertise of the working group (WG). A three-round delphi survey with 60 panelists and a public hearing were used to achieve consensus on the content of the classification. The consensus threshold was set at 70 %. Results: The expert panel agreed on 42 medicines or medicine classes (later 'items') to be included in the FINRiskMeds. A 70 % consensus was reached on 30 out of 60 items in Round 1 and on 13 out of 31 items in Round 2a. The strongest consensus was reached for warfarin, methotrexate, and opioids. The serious consequences and key risks of medicines and the medication process were described for all items after Rounds 2b and 3. Based on the WG's decision after a public hearing, the final classification consists of 38 items. Conclusion: This study produced expert consensus-based classifications of HRMs and a comprehensive list of their key risks. HRMs and their risks should be identified across health and social care to prevent potential medication errors. It is necessary to develop medication processes to minimize the risks associated with HRMs.

Objectives To compile the opinions of native Japanese speakers on the conceptual framework, optimal evaluation, and support measures for children with language disorders to devise materials on which a consensus can be *** A quantitative descriptive study using the delphi *** Using the delphi method, 43 clinicians with at least 15 years of experience working professionally with children's language disorders in Japan were surveyed three times via a web-based questionnaire. Thirty-nine items that were carefully selected by the working group were surveyed, and the agreement level was set to = 80%.Main Outcome Measures We investigated the following aspects related to developmental language disorder (DLD) among Japanese children: definition, core symptoms, evaluation of core symptoms, relationship with a second language, relationship with other related disorders, support systems, and information *** Overall, 43 qualified panel members were included in this study. Among the 39 items in the questionnaire, a high level of consensus (= 80%) from the responses of the participants was achieved for five items in Round 1, whereas no consensus (<50%) was achieved for seven items. After revising and integrating the questionnaires into 22 items, we conducted Rounds 2 and 3 and obtained high and medium levels of agreement in 20 items on disease concept, core symptoms, coexisting disorders, and manner of support of DLD in *** Our results clarify the previously ambiguous image of DLD in Japan. Information-sharing strategies that connect professionals, patients, their families, and community members are required in the future.

Libraries' roles in media and information literacy education: Obtaining the opinions of South Korean volunteer librarians through the delphi method¹

South Korea's official development assistance activities emphasize the significant role of education, with increasing attention towards the potential of libraries. Media and information literacy has become imperative for leading a productive life, highlighting the crucial role of libraries in enhancing media and information literacy competencies, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. However, limited research exists on this topic. This study explores how libraries could contribute to improving the media and information literacy competencies of people in low- and middle-income countries, drawing from interviews mainly with South Korean volunteer librarians with experience in low- and middle-income countries using the delphi method. The challenges in supporting media and information literacy capacity-building in libraries in low- and middle-income countries include a shortage of skilled personnel, limited resources, inadequate understanding of public development assistance and global citizenship, and insufficient publicity. The survey participants emphasized the need for specific qualifications for librarians to effectively contribute to media and information literacy education. They recommended continuous group-based training, incorporating field education and online courses to build media and information literacy competencies.

Agribusiness (agriculture and related value chain activities) is key to the development of a national economy. Technological innovations play a decisive role in the development of the agricultural sector. The success of the implementation of new technologies and the use of their full capacity depends on many factors, the main one of which is the innovation potential of economic entities operating within agribusiness. Innovation potential is determined by the understanding of the importance of innovation, the readiness to implement innovation, the available innovation capacity, and the innovation development practices applied by economic entities (natural and legal entities). The report's purpose is to approve the application of the delphi method for predicting the development of the innovation potential of economic entities working in agriculture, the forestry sector and the furniture industry.

A set of core concepts ("big ideas") integral to the discipline of physiology are important for students to understand and demonstrate their capacity to apply. We found poor alignment of learning outcomes in programs with physiology majors (or equivalent) from 17 Australian universities and the 15 core concepts developed by a team in the United States. The objective of this project was to reach Australia-wide consensus on a set of core concepts for physiology, which can be embedded in curricula across Australian universities. A four-phase delphi method was employed, starting with the assembling of a Task Force of physiology educators with extensive teaching and curriculum development expertise from 25 Australian universities. After two online meetings and a survey, the Task Force reached agreement on seven core concepts of physiology and their descriptors, which were then sent out to the physiology educator community across Australia for agreement. The seven core concepts and their associated descriptions were endorsed through this process (n = 138). In addition, embedding the core concepts across the curriculum was supported by both Task Force members (85.7%) and educators (82.1%). The seven adopted core concepts of human physiology were Cell Membrane, Cell-Cell Communication, Movement of Substances, Structure and Function, Homeostasis, Integration, and Physiological Adaptation. The core concepts were subsequently unpacked into themes and subthemes. If adopted, these core concepts will result in consistency across curricula in undergraduate physiology programs and allow for future benchmarking. NEW & NOTEWORTHY This is the first time Australia-wide agreement has been reached on the core concepts of physiology with the delphi method. Embedding of the core concepts will result in consistency in physiology curricula, improvements to teaching and learning, and benchmarking across Australian universities.
