Modeling effective cybersecurity training frameworks: A delphi method-based study

Today, cybersecurity training is commonplace in both large companies and Small & Medium Enterprise (SME). Nonetheless, the effectiveness of many of the current training offerings is put into question by reports of increasing successful cyber-attacks. While a number of models for developing Cybersecurity (CS) training frameworks for industrial personnel or general audience have been proposed, these models often lack consideration for humans aspects of learning (cognitive abilities, learning styles, meta-cognition among others) during development. Additionally, the success of a CS training program highly depends on its ability to engage participants. To develop a CS training framework that is able to motivate participants, we must consider individual-specific factors that can affect the result of training, besides establishing optimal training delivery methods and assessment. For this, in this work we propose a CS training framework based on a revised version of the ADDIE model and more recent research personalised learning theory. The delphi method was used to both develop and validate our decisions during the development of the training framework model. The results of the decision of the delphi method have later been compared to recommendations in the literature to create the finalised framework. This work presents two major distinctions from other CS training frameworks models described in the literature. First, the developed model is strongly based in learning theory foundations and takes into consideration differences in learning styles, cognitive abilities and metacognition of individuals, to offer tailored solutions optimized for each group of employees and single individual. Second, the use of the delphi method and the involvement of experts stakeholders from various sides of academia and industry gave a wide insight into current needs and recommendations for CS training, as well as formal validation for the final development. Objective The objective of this study was to develop an international expert consensus on priority otolaryngology-head and neck surgery conditions and procedures globally for which national health systems should be capable of caring. Study Design The delphi method was employed via a multiround online survey administered to attending otolaryngologists in an international research collaborative of >180 otolaryngologists in >40 countries. Setting International online survey. methods In round 1, participants listed the top 15 otolaryngologic conditions and top 15 otolaryngology procedures for their World Bank regions. In round 2, participants ranked round 1 responses in order of global importance on a 5-point Likert scale. In round 3, participants reranked conditions and procedures that did not achieve consensus, defined as 50% of the round 2 Likert responses being ranked as "important" or "very important." Descriptive statistics were calculated for each round. Results The survey was distributed to 53 experts globally, with a response rate of 38% (n = 20). Fifty percent (n = 10) of participants were from low- and middle-income countries, with at least 1 participant from each World Bank region. Ten consensus surgical procedures and 10 consensus conditions were identified. Conclusion This study identified a list of priority otolaryngology-head and neck surgery conditions and surgical procedures for which all national health systems around the world should be capable of managing. Acute and infectious conditions with preventative and emergent procedures were highlighted. These findings can direct future research and guide international collaborations.

In order to establish a reasonable epidemic prevention and control system, and improve the ability to respond to sudden epidemics, this article adopts the literature review method and the improved delphi method to launch expert consultations involving 12 experts in disease control, medical care, and municipal management. Using expert authority as the weight to evaluate expert opinions, 4 first-level indicators and 15 second-level indicators were obtained, and an index system for evaluating the effectiveness of epidemic prevention and control was constructed. The questionnaire method and the analytic hierarchy process are used to determine the weights of indicators at all levels, establish an evaluation model, and provide solutions for resource allocation, thereby improving the ability of epidemic prevention and control.

Developing the Teacher mentoring self-efficacy scale (TMSES) using the delphi method and exploratory factor analysis

As a psychometrically robust scale for measuring teacher mentoring self-efficacy beliefs remains to be established, the purpose of this study was to address this gap by developing the teacher mentoring self-efficacy scale (TMSES). In Phase 1 a delphi approach (N = 26) determined the competencies needed for effective teacher mentoring. In Phase 2 these 44 competencies were used to generate TMSES items. Following testing with 239 teacher mentors, exploratory factor analysis suggested a 16 -item two-factor model, with factors named as 'Pedagogical Practices' and 'Professional Relationships.' Results suggested strong inter-connections between qualitative themes, quantitative factors, and the theorised sources of self-efficacy.

Using a Modified delphi method to Reach Consensus on Best Practices for Medical Education Abstract Submissions to Multiple Conferences

Purpose Medical education researchers are often uncertain whether they should submit abstracts to certain conferences. Therefore, we aimed to elicit consensus among medical education conference organizers to answer the question: what are best practices for research abstract submissions to multiple conferences? methods Using a 44-question online survey, we conducted a modified delphi process to identify best practices for abstract submissions to medical education conferences. Consistent with the delphi process, we identified conference representatives from non-specialty medical education conferences and across four conference types (institutional, regional, national, and international) to serve as panelists. Results Eleven expert panelists, representing all four conference types-two institutional conferences, five regional conferences, two national conferences, and two international conferences-completed three rounds of the survey. After three rounds, panelists reached consensus on 39/44 survey items-26 items in round 1, 10 items in round 2, and three items in round 3. Panelists' consensus and rationale indicated that it is most appropriate to resubmit abstracts to conferences with a larger or different audience, but not to more homogeneous audiences. Among the four conference types, abstract resubmission from institutional conferences to other conference types was the most widely accepted. Panelists agreed that abstracts using data and results submitted or accepted for publication could be submitted to any conference type. Conclusion The results of this study provide best practices for presenting scholarship to medical education conferences. We recommend that guidelines for medical education conference abstract submissions provide consistent, clear instructions regarding the appropriate life cycle of an abstract.

The delphi method is a group facilitation technique that aims to achieve consensus by collecting expert opinions on a given topic through a series of anonymous, structured questionnaires. Objective: The objective of this article is to prioritize technologies, innovations, and new businesses related to the leather agroindustrial chain in the department of Quindío (Colombia) for the year 2035. method: The prospective scenario and delphi methods were used to prioritize key variables, technologies, actors, innovations, objectives, and scenarios in the leather agroindustry. As a previous phase, the Scopus database was used with the critical factors of leather, tanning, tanneries, tannery, leather transformation, cowhide, and suede, and the results were used as input for structured, anonymous and reiterative consultations with national and international experts on topics related to the chain and with a time horizon of 2035. The questionnaire was posed by groupings, including product and by-product innovation, sustainability, technology, and genetics, and, for the first round of the delphi method, was sent to more than 70 national and industry experts/stakeholders, representatives of universities, the public and private sectors, and organizations related to the chain. Findings: After conducting a bibliometric analysis, key terms related to the leather sector were visualized and a validation was made for MICMAC methods, with 44 variables found;with topics ranging from raw materials to current regulations. For the MACTOR method, future objectives were determined for clean technologies, the creation of new product development, and an R&D&I Center for productive transformation. Meanwhile, for the delphi method, 44 technologies and innovations were prioritized through rounds with complementary analysis using Python and natural language processing. Gamification in medical education: identifying and prioritizing key elements through delphi method

Background: Gamification has gained popularity in medical education, but key elements have not been formally identified. This study aimed to generate and prioritize a list of key elements of gamification in medical education. methods: This study utilized a two-stage approach, including the delphi method and qualitative interview. Nineteen medical educators with expertise in gamification participated in the delphi method stage. Experts who had more than three years of experience with gamification in medical education constituted the expert panel. The experts were then asked to rate the gamification elements using the Likert five-point scale through at least two consensus-seeking rounds. Consensus for key elements was predefined as ≥ 51% of respondents rating an element as ‘important’ or”very important.” In the qualitative interview stage, 10 experts provided feedback on the application of these key gamification elements. Results: Eighteen participants (11 males and 7 females) completed the entire delphi process for this study. After two rounds of surveys, the consensus was reached on all elements. Thirteen elements scored more than 4 points (37%) and reached the criteria of key elements of gamification in medical education. The top five key elements were integration with instruction objectives, game rules, rapid feedback, fairness, and points/scoring. The thirteen key elements for successful gamification in medical education were further organized into two main categories: (1) gamification design principles and (2) game mechanisms. Conclusions: Integration with educational objectives, gamification in curriculum design and teaching methods, and balancing between the mechanisms and principles were the three key components for successful gamification. This study explored the gamification key elements, providing practical tips for medical educators in their efforts to gamify medical education. Building Consensus on Domains of Wellness Using Finnish and International Expert Panels: A delphi-method Study

Purpose: The paper investigates whether we can build consensus on wellness domains and create a more universal conceptual framework for wellness. Design: A modified ranking type of delphi method. Participants: Two separate panels consisting of 23 Finnish and 11 international experts. methods: Panels were asked to rate the importance of 61 systematic review-based wellness domains and to eventually form a wellness model in both panels. The similarities between the resulting models were investigated and a new conceptual framework for wellness was created. Results: The Finnish model included 8 themes and 20 domains, and the international model 5 themes and eleven domains. Eight of the eleven domains were an exact match for the Finnish model (namely mental health, cognitive health, exercise, nutrition, community, life satisfaction, meaningfulness, work-life balance). There were also 2 similar domains that could be found in bothmodels (namely self-care and lifestyle habits, social networks). A new conceptual framework for wellness was created based on these ten domains. Conclusion: The lack of consensus on the wellness construct has made it difficult to find comparable measures that could assess and improve the level of wellness of individuals, organizations, and society. This study offers a conceptual framework that can be further validated and turned into a more universal measurement instrument.

Introduction In order to fulfill the enormous potential of digital health in the healthcare sector, digital health must become an integrated part of medical education. We aimed to investigate which knowledge, skills and attitudes should be included in a digital health curriculum for medical students through a scoping review and delphi method study. methods We conducted a scoping review of the literature on digital health relevant for medical education. Key topics were split into three sub-categories: knowledge (facts, concepts, and information), skills (ability to carry out tasks) and attitudes (ways of thinking or feeling). Thereafter, we used a modified delphi method where experts rated digital health topics over two rounds based on whether topics should be included in the curriculum for medical students on a scale from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree). A predefined cut-off of >= 4 was used to identify topics that were critical to include in a digital health curriculum for medical students. Results The scoping review resulted in a total of 113 included articles, with 65 relevant topics extracted and included in the questionnaire. The topics were rated by 18 experts, all of which completed both questionnaire rounds. A total of 40 (62%) topics across all three sub-categories met the predefined rating cut-off value of >= 4. Conclusion An expert panel identified 40 important digital health topics within knowledge, skills, and attitudes for medical students to be taught. These can help guide medical educators in the development of future digital health curricula.
