System level test selection based on combinatorial dependency matrix

Test selection is to select the test set with the least total cost or the least total number from the alternative test set on the premise of meeting the required testability *** existing models and methods are not suitable for system level test *** first problem is the lack of detailed data of the units’fault set and the test set,which makes it impossible to establish a traditional dependency matrix for the system *** second problem is that the system level fault detection rate and the fault isolation rate(referred to as"two rates")are not enough to describe the fault diagnostic ability of the system level *** innovative dependency matrix(called combinatorial dependency matrix)composed of three submatrices is *** first problem is solved by simplifying the submatrix between the units’fault and the test,and the second problem is solved by establishing the system level fault detection rate,the fault isolation rate and the integrated fault detection rate(referred to as"three rates")based on the new *** mathematical model of the system level test selection problem is constructed,and the binary genetic algorithm is applied to solve the problem,which achieves the goal of system level test selection.

A New Hybrid Fault Diagnostic Method for Combining dependency matrix Diagnosis and Fuzzy Diagnosis Based on an Enhanced Inference Operator

This paper is devoted to the fault diagnosis of electronic systems by combining logical signals, such as built-in test output, and analog signals, such as voltage, current and temperature. First, the basic inference principles of dependency matrix (D matrix) diagnosis and fuzzy diagnosis are introduced, and the characteristics of their inference operators are summarized. Then, the similarities and differences between the two diagnostic methods are analyzed. Based on the judgement of close degree, a new enhanced inference operator is defined to suit both the D matrix and the fuzzy relation matrix (R matrix). A DR matrix is defined to describe the mixed relationships between faults and the two types of signals. Based on the enhanced inference operator and the DR matrix, a new hybrid diagnostic method is established. Finally, a signal modulating circuit is used to verify the effectiveness of the enhanced inference operator on the D matrix, the R matrix and the DR matrix, which demonstrates the high efficiency of the enhanced inference operator and the feasibility of the new hybrid diagnostic method.

dependency matrix is a kind of description form of the dependency relationships between the faults and tests in a UUT (Unit Under Test). Testability analysis, testability prediction and fault diagnosis can be accomplished on the basis of dependency matrix. The traditional method of acquiring dependency matrix is to search the signal flow of the UUT's dependency graphical model. The difficulties in integrating the models together and the exponentially growing workload to search the signal flow are two major disadvantages of the traditional method. To overcome these disadvantages, a new method for dependency matrix combination based on port connection relationship is proposed. Definitions of port-extended dependency matrix and global port connection matrix are given. The principle of dependency matrix combination method is analyzed with the definitions of the two matrixes above given. The generation algorithms of a port-extended dependency matrix and a global port connection matrix are studied. Based on the port-extended dependency and the global port connection matrix, the algorithm flow of the dependency matrix combination method is given. A case of an avionic system is given and the above method is applied. The result shows that the method is feasible and effective.

Satisfiability degree measures the extent of a propositional formula to be true. Existing propositional matrix search algorithm computes the satisfiability degree of a propositional formula without considering the dependencies between the propositional atoms. There may exist dependencies between the propositional atoms and if exists it can be used to simplify the computation of propositional matrix search algorithm. In the proposed dependency propositional matrix search algorithm the dependencies are represented as a dependency matrix. The truth detector phase of dependency propositional matrix search algorithm considers the dependency matrix to compute the satisfiability degree of a propositional formula. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is effective than the existing algorithm if there are more dependencies between the propositional atoms.

The dependency matrix is widely used in fault diagnosis as a valid diagnostic model. However, the conventional dependency matrix-based diagnosis method pays more attention to the extension and improvement of the dependency matrix, and the timeliness is rarely discussed. To solve the problem and improve the diagnosis efficiency, fast diagnosis method using two search algorithms is proposed. The hash function is introduced, and the dependency matrix is transformed into the key-value pairs. The binary search algorithm is brought in to locate the desired failure mode by splitting the dependency matrix. Thus, the fault diagnosis is converted into a search process, which can improve the diagnosis efficiency by making full use of the advantages of the search algorithms. Finally, a numerical simulation is utilized to verify the proposed method. The proposed methods are applied to the matrices of different sizes. The results show that the hash-based diagnosis method has significantly better efficiency, making it more suitable for onboard diagnosis. On the other hand, the binary search-based method is advantageous from a memory perspective only when the matrix size is small.

This paper is devoted to measuring the continuous diagnosis capability of a system. A key metric and its calculation models are proposed enabling us to measure the continuous diagnosis capability of a system directly without establishing and searching the sequential fault tree (SET) of the system. At first a description of a D matrix is given and its metric is defined to determine the weakness of a continuous diagnosis. Then based on the definition of a sequential fault combination, a sequential fault tree (SET) is defined with its establishment process summarized. A key SET metric is established to measure the continuous diagnosis capability of a system. Two basic types of dependency graphical models (DGMs) and one combination type of DGM are selected for characteristics analysis and establishment of metric calculation models. Finally, both the SET searching method and direct calculation method are applied to two designs of one type of an auxiliary navigation equipment, which shows the high efficiency of the direct calculation method.

A matrix-based modularization approach for supporting secure collaboration in parametric design

The purpose of this paper is to develop a matrix-based modularization method that protects critical product information from being known by suppliers. The product information is first captured by a function-parameter (FP) matrix, which defines the dependency relationships between functions and parameters. In addition, two types of parameters are classified: shared and protected. The shared parameters are the parameters to be known by the suppliers for collaborative design, while the protected parameters are assumed to be the confidential product information. Given the FP matrix with shared and protected parameters, a three-phase clustering method is proposed to form product modules that intentionally group and isolate protected parameters. Based on a matrix-based modular structure, a formulation is proposed to estimate the leakage risk of protected parameters due to the disclosure of shared parameters to suppliers. At the end, the relief valve system is used to examine the proposed modularization and measurement methods. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Call forwarding-based active probing for POTS fault isolation

To ensure high availability of telephone services, there is considerable interest in network management activities to develop competent fault management mechanisms. In this paper we investigate, examine, and try to adapt the current active probing technologies to fault isolation and problem determination of telecommunication networks. The unfitness, issues, and difficulties while adopting these IP-networking probing methods into fault isolation of telecommunication networks are addressed and elaborated. For achieving our goal, call-forwarding which is a dedicated function (or feature) in telecommunication networks is utilized to overcome the unfitness and difficulties while applying probing technologies to fault isolation of telecommunication networks. Numerous experiments with different probe sets, probe stations, total probe lengths, network topologies, and probing algorithms are conducted and analyzed to validate our strategy. From the results of our experiments, we can find that phone call-forwarding can not only facilitate the fault isolation with the existing active probing techniques, but also increase the system flexibility on the installation of probe stations. Meanwhile, on the basis of our experimental results, several practical suggestions are also provided for system implementation.

Software requirements are often not set in concrete at the start of a software development project;and requirement changes become necessary and sometimes inevitable due to changes in customer requirements and changes in business rules and operating environment;hence, requirements development, which includes requirements changes, is a part of a software process. Previous research reports that correcting requirements errors late costs many times more than correcting them during the requirements development phase. There is, hence, a need to manage them well and to analyse them in order to identify the impacts, difficulties and potential conflicts with existing requirements. Most studies on requirements change analysis are done at the source code level while paying less attention to the initiation of changes at a higher level. In this paper, we present a method of requirements change analysis based on the changes themselves which are initiated at higher levels. This method consists of three steps: namely (1) analysing the change using functions, (2) identifying the change difficulty and (3) identifying the dependencies using a matrix. We illustrate the usefulness of our method by applying it to a course management system of a university.

A Semi-Automatic Optimization Design Method for SvcV-5 in DoDAF 2.0 Based on Service Identification

As one of the products in the US Department of Defense Architecture Framework version 2.0 (DoDAF 2.0), the Operational Activity to Services Traceability matrix product (SvcV-5) links the operational viewpoint (OV) and service viewpoint (SvcV). SvcV-5 is an essential product for optimizing the design of other service view products;thus, it is necessary to study how to optimize the design of SvcV-5. This paper studies the semi-automatic design method of SvcV-5 based on the service identification method. The main idea of this paper is to extract relevant information from previous architecture design products, such as OV-6b, CV-4 and CV-6, and then to study the method of taking service identification and designing the SvcV-5 product. First, a message-based service initial identification method is used to generate the initial service set. Second, considering the measure of the cohesion and the coupling degree of the service, a service improving algorithm is used to update the initial service set. In this process, a dependency matrix between operational activities is established;this matrix includes data dependencies and capability requirement dependencies. Then, according to the mapping result of the service identification method, service-related information can be determined manually by designers. Finally, SvcV-5 can be generated through an automatic algorithm based on the service identification result and the OV-6b product. This article verifies the proposed method using the motivation example of the earthquake rescue information system (ERIS) architecture product design. Through conducting experimental analysis and comparing our method with other service identification methods, we illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed SvcV-5 optimization design method.
