This paper analyzed the performance of a detection algorithm using MB-OFDM UWB receiver based on silent time when the victim signal is received by detection limit of -80 dBm/MHz proposed in Korea for DAA. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed detection algorithm is enough to detect the victim signal with 95% detection probability within the +/-0.5 dB error range if repeat Number over 4 is used.

Many networks, including social and biological networks, are naturally divided into communities. Community detection is an important task for the discovering underlying structure in networks. GN algorithm is one of the most influential detection algorithms based on betweenness scores of edges, but it is computationally costly, as all betweenness scores should be repeatedly computed once an edge is removed. Here, an algorithm is presented, which is also based on betweenness scores but more than one edge can be removed when all betweenness scores have been computed. This method is motivated by the consideration: many components, divided from networks, are independent each other in their recalculation of betweenness scores and their split into smaller components. It is shown that this method is fast and effective through theoretical analysis and experiments with several real data sets, which have been acted as test beds in many related works.

In this paper a new nonlinear joint fusion and detection algorithm is proposed for locating anomalies from two different types of sensor data (synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and hyperspectral sensor (HS) data). The proposed approach jointly exploits the nonlinear correlation or dependencies between the two sensors in order to simultaneously fuse and detect the objects of interest (mines). A well-known anomaly detector, so called RX algorithm is extended to perform fusion and detection simultaneously at the pixel level by appropriately concatenating the information from the two sensors. This approach is then extended to its nonlinear version using the idea of kernel learning which explicitly exploits the higher order dependencies (nonlinear correlations) between the two sensor data through an appropriate kernel.

In this paper, we present a new detection algorithm for line defects of scale-covered steel billets. Because of the presence of scales on the billet surface, features of surface images such as brightness and textures are non-uniform. To minimize the influence of scales and to improve the accuracy of detection, a new detection method based on undecimated wavelet transform is proposed. The vertical projection profile of subimage with high-frequency information produced by undecimated wavelet transform is used to detect the line defects. Experimental results conducted on billets surface image from actual steel production line show that the proposed algorithm is capable of detecting line defects on billet surface.

Custom power devices are used currently to deal with voltage sag and interruptions. Study on detection algorithm become urgent. In order to master sampling value product curve fitting detection algorithm, in theory, compared it with others detection algorithm, studied on DSP emulate system, achieved it's many merits ; in practice, used it in 10 kV SSTS, and validated it's quick utility chracteristic. Study it's localization, three results those larger calculation deviation brought by higher order harmonic component with identical amplitude, calculation result influenced little by allowable frequency deviation and less calculation deviation brought by more digit capacity of A/D transfer were achieved. From synthesis research, the final conclusions that, sampling value product curve fitting detection algorithm was more suitable to dispose voltage signal with better stability and less harmonic component in medium power system and special low-tension power system, and low-pass filter technology was used to detect voltage sag in low-tension power system with larger harmonic component by sampling value product curve fitting detection algorithm, were achieved.

A maximum magnitude probability (MMP) model is introduced in this paper to study contributions of individual DCT coefficient to the all-zero block (AZB) detection. Based on the MMP model, an efficient AZB detection algorithm is proposed to reduce the overall computation complexity. The new method is further combined with a recently published multi-threshold method [6] to achieve an adaptive detection of all-zero DCT sub-blocks. Experiment results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve a remarkable reduction of computational complexity from the original H.264 encoder with minor PSNR loss. Some comparison with similar lossy encoding schemes is also presented.

Drowsiness detection is vital in preventing traffic accidents. Eye state analysis - detecting whether the eye is open or closed - is critical step for drowsiness detection. In this paper, we propose an easy algorithm for pupil center and iris boundary localization and a new algorithm for eye state analysis, which we incorporate into a four step system for drowsiness detection: face detection, eye detection, eye state analysis, and drowsy decision. This new system requires no training data at any step or special cameras. Our eye detection algorithm uses Eye Map, thus achieving excellent pupil center and iris boundary localization results on the IMM database. Our novel eye state analysis algorithm detects eye state using the saturation (S) channel of the HSV color space. We analyze our eye state analysis algorithm using five video sequences and show superior results compared to the common technique based on distance between eyelids.

Impulse noise is generated by many house hold appliances that are attached to the electrical network. Its presence is often detrimental to the performance of a power line communication system, causing PHY throughput degradation in the order of 30-50%. The goal of impulse noise mitigation is to improve the SNR of the received signal by means of signal processing tools. In this work we focus on optimizing the detection of impulsive noises. A new method is developed for the setting of the detection threshold, that is both efficiently computed (in an iterative manner), and performs well in various impulsive noise conditions. Once impulses are detected they are removed from the received waveform by applying simple windowing mechanisms. To evaluate different impulse detection algorithms we test them against real life (impulsive) noise waveforms that have been captured on the power line. The selected algorithm is further validated on the power line against realtime captures of impulse noise impeded signals.

ML-DFE algorithm is known as the combination of the ZF-DFE algorithm and ML algorithm. In this paper, OSIC-ML is proposed as the simplified algorithm of the ML-DFE, by exchanging the executive order of OSIC and ML, using simple matrix operations to replace the method of through QR decomposition to find a unitary matrix for matrix resolution. ML-DFE algorithm decreases complexity of the matrix operations, and gets almost the same performance of ML-DFE algorithm by the Matlab simulation results.

We propose a novel technique to detect feature points from portrait and range representations of the face. In this technique, the appearance of each feature point is encoded using a set of Gabor wavelet responses extracted at multiple orientations and spatial frequencies. A vector of Gabor coefficients, called a jet, is computed at each pixel in the search window on a fiducial and compared with a set of jets, called a bunch, collected from a set of training data on the same type of fiducial. The desired feature point is located at the pixel whose jet is the most similar to the training bunch. This is the first time that Gabor wavelet responses were used to detect facial landmarks from range images. This method was tested on 1146 pairs of range and portrait images and high detection accuracies are achieved using a small number of training images. It is shown that co-localization using Gabor jets on range and portrait images resulted in better accuracy than using any single image modality. The obtained accuracies are competitive to that of other techniques in the literature.
