A technical scheme, which can properly arrange IDS and optimally apply the algorithms of detection and data mining to the Honeynet environment, is proposed in the building automation system completed by the author recently. In this specific environment, the position of IDS is deployed reasonably and the anomaly and misuse detection algorithm of IDS is designed and selected optimally. Meanwhile, the misuse detection rules are updated dynamically with the combination of data-mining association rule algorithm. The design makes the classical and mature algorithms display their technical characteristics and advantages to the largest extent in the project and enable the honeynet to protect the internal control network as expected.

Criteria have been developed and published for the detection of ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) in the 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG). In this study we report on an algorithm for the detection of ST segment elevation in body surface potential maps (BSPM). The algorithm seeks ST segment elevation, exceeding predefined thresholds, in two contiguous/adjacent leads. Thresholds are based upon the extension of existing 12-lead ECG criteria. The algorithm was applied to 45 subjects who had 120-lead BSPMs recorded during percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA). The algorithm was capable of distinguishing between baseline ECGs and peak balloon inflation ECGs with a sensitivity of 84.4% and specificity of 86.7%. Standard STEMI criteria, applied to 12-lead ECGs extracted from the same BSPMs, resulted in a sensitivity of 53.3% and a specificity of 100%. The BSPM algorithm has the potential to increase sensitivity but specificity is reduced.

HiZ-GUNDAM is a future satellite mission designed for exploring the early universe using gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). The satellite is equipped with two main instruments: a wide field X-ray monitor (WFXM) and a near infrared telescope (NIRT). And its mission data processing unit (MPU) plays an important role in data processing. When a transient source occurs and the X-rays enter the WFXM, a cross-shaped image is produced on the focal plane image sensor. Once the WFXM's data are sent to the MPU, the direction of the source is determined from the center position. Furthermore, if there are no known stellar objects in this direction and if they are not hot pixels or other anomalies, the event is classified as a GRB candidate. To evaluate the software for this series of judgments, we investigated the angular resolution by this software algorithm utilizing the cross image obtained by the lobster eye optics (LEO).

We are developing a technology for stand-off detection based on photo-thermal infrared imaging spectroscopy (PT-IRIS). In this approach, one or more infrared (IR) quantum cascade lasers are tuned to strong absorption bands in the analytes and directed at the sample while an IR focal plane array is used to image the subsequent thermal emissions. In this paper we present recent advances in the theory and numerical modeling of photo-thermal imaging and spectroscopy of particulates on flat substrates. We compare the theoretical models with experimental data taken on our mobile cart-based PT-IRIS system. Synthetic data of the photo-thermal response was calculated for a wide range of analytes, substrates, particle sizes and analyte mass loadings using their known thermo-physical and optical properties. These synthetic data sets can now be generated quickly and were used to accelerate the development of detection algorithms. The performance of detection algorithms will also be discussed.

According to the similarity of the channel model of V-BLAST and TDD-CDMA, this paper proposes a scheme to apply the V-BLAST detection algorithms into TDD-CDMA. Generally, V-BLAST system is combined with OFDM, so the undergoing channel is flat. But the channel of TDD-CDMA is always frequency selective. Therefore, when the V-BLAST detection algorithms are applied into TDD-CDMA, the algorithms need to be modified. The proposed symbol by symbol scheme can apply the V-BLAST algorithms, which are MMSE-SIC (Minimum Mean Square Error-Successive Interference cancellation) and MMSE-QRD (Minimum Mean Square Error-QR Decomposition) in this paper, into TDD-CDMA. The experiment of paper which compares the symbol by symbol scheme of MMSE-BDFE (Minimum Mean Square Error-Block Decision Feedback Equalization), MMSE-SIC and MMSE-QRD shows that MMSE-SIC has better performance than the others, and MMSE-BDFE and MMSE-QRD have the similar performance. MMSE-SIC has highest complexity and MMSE-QRD has lowest complexity. The proposed algorithms can be applied in the MIMO receiver of HSDPA+ in TD-SCDMA.

Presented an improved detection algorithm for random sequences of Spectrally Efficient Frequency Division Multiplexing (SEFDM) signals based on decision diagram. Application of the modified algorithm makes it possible to reduce the resulting bit error probability. The simulation results presented BER performance and BER depending on the number of subcarriers confirms this. It has been shown that it is possible to reduce the frequency spacing between subcarriers by 10% without an increase of energy losses by applying the modified algorithm based on decision diagram. This allows to increase the transmission rate in proportion by arranging the additional subcarriers in the same frequency band.

The detection of adulterations in food powder products represents a high interest especially when it concerns the health of the consumers. The food industry is concerned by peanut adulteration since it is a major food allergen often used in transformed food products. Near-infrared hyperspectral imaging is an emerging technology for food inspection. It was used in this work to detect peanut flour adulteration in wheat flour. The detection of peanut particles was challenging for two reasons: the particle size is smaller than the pixel size leading to impure spectral profiles;peanut and wheat flour exhibit similar spectral signatures and variability. A Matched Subspace Detector (MSD) algorithm was designed to take these difficulties into account and detect peanut adulteration at the pixel scale using the associated spectrum. A set of simulated data was generated to overcome the lack of reference values at the pixel scale and to design appropriate MSD algorithms. The best designs were compared by estimating the detection sensitivity. Defatted peanut flour and wheat flour were mixed in eight different proportions (from 0.02% to 20%) to test the detection performances of the algorithm on real hyperspectral measurements. The number and positions of the detected pixels were investigated to show the relevancy of the results and validate the design of the MSD algorithm. The presented work proved that the use of hyperspectral imaging and a fine-tuned MSD algorithm enables to detect a global adulteration of 0.2% of peanut in wheat flour.

Coordinate Descent detection algorithms Using Adaptive Moment Estimation for MDL-Impaired Mode Division Multiplexing Systems

The performance of mode division multiplexing (MDM) systems is limited by mode-dependent loss (MDL), which seriously deteriorates the unitarity of the transmission matrix, making the traditional detection algorithms ineffective. In order to mitigate the effect of MDL in MDM transmission and improve the efficiency of digital signal processing at the receiver, a novel coordinate descent (CD)-based box-constrained detection algorithm using adaptive moment estimate (CDbox-Adam) is proposed. In the process of each coordinate update for the CDbox detection algorithm, the adaptive moment estimation (Adam) method adaptively updates the step size for different parameters from the first moment estimate and the second moment estimate of the gradients. To simplify the process of each coordinate updating of the CDbox-Adam algorithm, the CDbox-Adamax detection algorithm is also proposed. The CDbox-Adamax detection algorithm generalizes the 2-norm update rule of weights to the infinite norm. At the same time, an early stop criterion is proposed to efficiently avoid unnecessary iterations. Simulation results show that the early stop criterion reduces the number of iterations of the proposed detection algorithms. For a 12-mode MDM system impaired by MDL, the average number of iterations of the proposed detection algorithms is less than the CDbox detection algorithm. Thus, the proposed detection algorithms present lower computational complexity than the CDbox detection algorithm. Furthermore, compared with the conventional minimum mean square error (MMSE) detection algorithm, the proposed detection algorithms, CDbox-Adam and CDbox-Adamax, gain signal to noise ratio (SNR) improvement of 2.3 dB and 1.6 dB at BER = 10(-5) when MDL = 5 dB with QPSK and 16QAM, respectively. In the presence of MDL = 5 dB and 10 dB, when compared with the proposed detection algorithms with perfect CSI, the proposed detection algorithms with LS channel estimation requires 5.1 dB and 2.5 dB more of SNR to get

Shockable Rhythm detection algorithms for Electrocardiograph Rhythm in Automated Defibrillators

The quick and accurate detection of shockable rhythms is important in real application of automatic external defibrillator or implantable cardioverter defibrillator to save lives. The crucial component in automatic defibrillator is the detection algorithm for shockable rhythms, including ventricular fibrillation and pulseless ventricular tachycardia. We summarized the main development of the algorithms, including the time-field detection method, frequency-field detection method, time-frequency analysis detection method and dynamics analysis method. Furthermore, the key issues for further study are also presented.
