This study inspected and tracked the location state of a test object in the telemetry monitoring of a wafer or solar panel, and the relevant optoelectronic devices. A CCD camera, triggered by the proposed system, captures the test target image in real time, which is transferred to the system for low-pass filtering, image binarization, spatial masking, boundary tracing, and other means of image processing. The new edge point detection algorithm is then applied to identify the edge points of three parallel lines. Three different group edge points are determined using the edge point detection algorithm, and the three groups are computed using a single linear regression equation. Multiple-linear regression is conducted to obtain the sections of straight lines of the groups that can best satisfy the expected requirements. Finally, whether the detection results are consistent with the expected requirements is determined to inspect whether the test object is consistent with the process specifications in order to reduce undesirable losses, as caused by inappropriate placement angle in subsequent manufacturing, thus, enhancing subsequent manufacturing to achieve high yield. Passive multistatic radar is of great interest in both civilian and military applications due to its numerous advantages. We focus on the target detection problem in passive multistatic radar consisting of a non-cooperative illuminator of opportunity, and several spatially separated surveillance receivers. Two F-test based detectors are proposed for target detection in this passive multistatic radar. They both exhibit a constant false alarm rate with respect to noise power. We drive closed-form expressions for the probability of false alarm of the proposed detector for the case of equal noise power in each receivers. Simulation results illustrate that the proposed detectors achieve satisfactory detection performance without requirement of knowledge about noise power. (C) 2018 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Rapid, efficient, and robust quantitative analyses of dynamic apoptotic events are essential in a high-throughput screening workflow. Currently used methods have several bottlenecks, specifically, limitations in available fluorophores for downstream assays and misinterpretation of statistical image data analysis. In this study, we developed cytochrome-C (Cyt-C) and caspase-3/-8 reporter cell lines using lung (PC9) and breast (T47D) cancer cells, and characterized them from the response to apoptotic stimuli. In these two reporter cell lines, the spatial fluorescent signal translocation patterns served as reporters of activations of apoptotic events, such as Cyt-C release and caspase-3/-8 activation. We also developed a vision-based, tunable, automated algorithm in MATLAB to implement the robust and accurate analysis of signal translocation in single or multiple cells. Construction of the reporter cell lines allows live monitoring of apoptotic events without the need for any other dyes or fixatives. Our algorithmic implementation forgoes the use of simple image statistics for more robust analytics. Our optimized algorithm can achieve a precision greater than 90% and a sensitivity higher than 85%. Combining our automated algorithm with reporter cells bearing a single-color dye/fluorophore, we expect our approach to become an integral component in the high-throughput drug screening workflow.

A lumped element model is implemented to describe the torsional vibrations of the drillstring while reaming, i.e. rotating off-bottom. The rotary motions and the torques anywhere in the drillstring are simply convolutions of the surface rotary motion with analytical expressions that are derived in this paper. The Coulomb friction forces are divided into steady-state forces and time-dependent forces. The drillstring vibrates around a stable position that is determined by the steady-state friction torques. The vibrations are damped by viscous friction forces and in particular the Basset forces dominate the damping. The time-dependent part of the Coulomb friction forces are related to when something is not normal in the well. For instance, when the drill bit is hindered by a cuttings bed or the bottom part of the drillstring is hung up in a sharp curvature. The model is further used in an algorithm for detecting the time-dependent Coulomb friction coefficients. A sensitivity study is added and the detection algorithm seems to be mathematically robust. This motivates experimental verifications of both the model and the detection algorithm in the future.

With the rapid development of the DC system, the residual current in the DC system has become an urgent problem to be solved. However, the type B residual current devices (RCD) for AC systems could not be directly used in DC systems. In the DC system, the voltage fluctuation generated by the rectifier and the system circulating net currents generated by the line with different positive and negative parameters would interfere with RCD detection. In this paper, the residual current experimental platform was built first. Then the residual current detection prototype was developed and its operating characteristics were tested. The impedance model of the human body was built for different electric shock conditions secondly. Thirdly, the influence of system factors on circulating net currents and residual current detection was analyzed. Finally, the configurations of RCD in the DC system were proposed, protecting the human body from electric shock and preventing electric fire accident threats.

Purpose: In this study automatic detection of implanted gold markers in megavoltage portal images for on-line position verification was investigated, Methods and Materials: A detection method for fiducial gold markers, consisting of a marker extraction kernel (MEK), was developed. The detection success rate was determined for different markers using this MEK. The localization accuracy was investigated by measuring distances between markers, which were fixed on a perspex template. In order to generate images comparable to images of patients with implanted markers, this template was placed on the skin of patients before the start of the treatment, Portal images were taken of lateral prostate fields at 18 MV within 1-2 monitor units (MU). Results: The detection success rates for markers of 5 mm length and 1.2 and 1.4 mm diameter were 0.95 and 0.99 respectively when placed at the beam entry and 0.39 and 0.86 when placed at the beam exit. The localization accuracy appears to be better than 0.6 mm for all markers. Conclusion: Automatic marker detection with an acceptable accuracy at the start of a radiotherapy fraction is feasible, Further minimization of marker diameters may be achieved with the help of an a-Si flat panel imager and may increase the clinical acceptance of this technique. In this paper, we propose a novel generalized space shift keying (GSSK) detection algorithm by exploiting the inherent sparse property of GSSK signal. In particular, we formulate the GSSK detection into a sparse convex optimization problem. The key contribution of the proposed algorithm lies in the strategical adoption and transformation of the sparse reconstruction (SR) from image processing to GSSK detection. The proposed SR detector achieves better performance than all existing suboptimal solutions with comparable computational complexity. In order to further improve the performance of the SR algorithm, we develop another approach, i.e., the iterative SR algorithm, which utilizes the result of the SR algorithm as the start point and enhances the detection performance gradually in each iteration. The simulation results confirm the efficiency of both of the proposed algorithms.

The elderly are more likely to suffer the aches or pains from the accidental falls, and both the physiology and psychology of patients would subject to a long-term disturbance, especially when the emergency treatment was not given timely and properly. Although many methods and devices have been developed creatively and shown their efficiency in experiments, few of them are suitable for commercial applications routinely. Here, we design a wearable falling detector as a mobile terminal, and utilize the wireless technology to transfer and monitor the activity data of the host in a relatively small community. With the help of the accelerometer sensor and the Google Mapping service, information of the location and the activity data will be send to the remote server for the downstream processing. The experimental result has shown that SA (Sum-vector of all axes) value of 2.5 g is the threshold value to distinguish the falling from other activities. A three-stage detection algorithm was adopted to increase the accuracy of the real alarm, and the accuracy rate of our system was more than 95%. With the further improvement, the falling detecting device which is low-cost, accurate and user-friendly would become more and more common in everyday life.
