The protection strategies proposed and implemented to protect users against spam, focus on specific areas that need to be protected e.g. Anti-Spam filters that protect the user's mailbox from bulk unsolicited email. Digital forensics is based on scientifically proven methods to collect and analyze digital information. Employing digital forensic techniques to gather and analyze email information provides a new dimension to the fight against spam. Adding digital forensic readiness to email will allow for the gathering of forensic information. The digital forensic information can be used to verify information contained in the trace header of an email. The authors propose augmentations to the receive header, that is part of the trace header, currently specified for SMTP to implement digital forensic readiness. Incorporating digital forensics, adds a level of integrity to the trace header information that can be used for other purposes e.g. creating a spam detection mechanism or tracing the origin of spam. Digital forensic information is added to the email envelope so there is no effect to the content of the email. Therefore, the content remains untouched. The authors examine the addition of digital forensic information and highlight the changes that will need to be implemented in the SMTP trace header. The authors propose the gap detection algorithm that is used to find gaps in the received-tokens of the received header. The information that is generated by the gap detection algorithm is also discussed. In conclusion, the addition of digital forensic readiness adds a level of integrity to the SMTP trace header that can be used to add a level of trust.

This paper presents a low-complexity multiuser MIMO detection algorithm. The MIMO receiver exploits Radial space-Division Multiple Access (RDMA) principle, by paring and scheduling the MIMO multiusers with distinguishable radial space-divisions to the receiver. By exploiting the Channel State Information (CSI) and eigenvalue analysis, the MIMO receiver can selectively deploy the Linear Minimum Mean Square Error (L-MMSE) detection or Successive Interference Cancelation (SIC) for the MIMO multiusers. This reduces the complexity for the multiuser detection, by possibly maintaining the performance. The investigation is provided for the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex (OFDM) system. Throughout this paper, an IEEE 802.16e, Worldwide Interoperability Microwave Access (WiMAX), link level simulator is exploited for the uplink performance evaluation.

Physical transceiver implementations for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless communication systems suffer from transmit-RF (Tx-RF) impairments. In this paper, we study the effect on channel capacity and error-rate performance of residual Tx-RF impairments that defy proper compensation. In particular, we demonstrate that such residual distortions severely degrade the performance of (near-)optimum MIMO detection algorithms. To mitigate this performance loss, we propose an efficient algorithm, which is based on an i.i.d. Gaussian model for the distortion caused by these impairments. In order to validate this model, we provide measurement results based on a 4-stream Tx-RF chain implementation for MIMO orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM).

detection algorithm based on widely linear filtering is proposed for the QAM modulated MIMO system. Unlike the existing works which focus on non circular signals (e.g. BPSK, PAM), this paper extends the widely linear detection to MIMO system transmitting circular signals (e.g. QAM, QPSK) by eliminating the I (or Q ) component of the transmitted signals. The proposed algorithm has a ML-approaching performance with a computational complexity independent of the modulation order, whose upper bounder is O(2~(N_T) ) (for QPSK) or O(3~(N_T) ) (for M-QAM,M>4), lower than the complexity (O(M(N_T)~(1/2) ) ) of FSD (Fixed-complexity Sphere Decoding) for a practical interval of N_T , the number of transmitting antennas. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve quasi-ML performance with complexity comparable with FSD(1, …, M) for QPSK signal, and much lower complexity than FSD(1, …, M) when the system is 16-QAM (64-QAM) modulated.

Hardware testbeds are an essential tool to evaluate the performance of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems in a realistic environment. However, most of the existing MIMO transmission testbeds have been conducted under less than or equal to four antennas. An 8×8 field programmable gate arrays (FGPA)-based MIMO-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) real-time transmission testbed has been developed by the DOCOMO Beijing Labs (DBL) in a typical indoor environment. Our objective is twofold: 1) to validate the functionality of MIMO and OFDM technologies; 2) meanwhile, to verify our receiver detection algorithm, orthogonal grouping-based near optimal detection algorithm (OGNO), proposed for high order MIMO systems. This paper presents a description of the testbed, detailing the testbed architecture, algorithms interest and hardware components. Moreover, we also present measurement results and show the impact of spatial correlation on system performance.

For the defects testing of civil aviation aircraft maintenance, an extraction algorithm of corrosion feature based on fractional dimension of fractal is proposed. Firstly, the ration denotation method of corrosion phenomena in fractal dimension is studied, and then distance vectors between the boundary and the centroid are ascertained by fractal feature of corrosion region's contour and the vectors is fitted. Secondly, the feature value of corrosion contour which results from fitting is modified depending on self-similar of step variation when the corrosion region is contracted. At last, the fitted value is regarded as a correlation dimension and the corrosion defects of aircraft skin is detected and recognized. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is easy to extract feature of corrosion of aircraft skin, and it has high recognition ratios and robustness for corrosion detection, especially, it can meet the real-time request.

Collaborative spectrum sensing is an important technique to combat many random factors in cognitive radio systems. However, it is vulnerable to attacks like false reports of spectrum situation. Particularly, a hit-and-run attack policy is proposed in this paper, which cannot be be mitigated by traditional approaches of attacker detection in cognitive radio systems. Motivated by the system of points for penalizing reckless drivers in DMV, a point based attacker detection algorithm is proposed, whose effectiveness is demonstrated by numerical simulations.

This paper introduces an arm motion perception and interaction platform using motion perception and touch/force interaction devices (wireless data glove, inertial tracking unit and force feedback device). The platform implements finger bend sensing, three dimensional motion tracking, and is able to feed back force to operator's hand on condition that it grasps the virtual object successfully. The paper first demonstrates the platform's hardware and software architecture. Then according to the physical constraints of arm motion and characteristics of the sensing and interaction devices used, an arm motion model and corresponding arm motion tracking method is proposed. Finally, in order to enhance the system real-time response, a collision detection algorithm with force feedback based on OBB and penetration depth is used to detect collision between arm model and virtual object.

In this paper, we describe a novel approach for the automatic classification of candidate spiculated mass locations on mammography. Our approach is based on “Snakules” - an evidence-based active contour algorithm that we have recently developed for the annotation of spicules on mammography. We use snakules to extract features characteristic of spicules and spiculated masses, and use these features to classify whether a region of a mammogram contains a spiculated mass or not. The results from our initial classification experiment demonstrate the strong potential of snakules as an image analysis technique to extract features specific to spicules and spiculated masses, which can subsequently be used to distinguish true spiculated mass locations from non-lesion locations on a mammogram and improve the specificity of computer-aided detection (CADe) algorithms.

Eye detecting is an important part of computer face recognition. Eye detecting is vulnerable to impact of different gesture and light under complex environment. In order to solve the complex environment of the human eye positioning problem, use a Based on Adaboost and gray-scale information of the human eye detection algorithm. Firstly, collecting different eye samples carries out the balance of gray. From a database select a small number of Haar-like features produce a strong and efficient classifier. Secondly, using a method of cascade constitutes a more complex cascade classifier. And then, using gray-scale threshold means carries out preprocessing. At last, applying a classifier carries out eye detection.
