In Surveillance system usually look for the color or edge of an object in order to identify its key features, and this leads us to the key topic of geometric detection algorithms. For spatial calibration method in this thesis, the ellipse is used as the calibration target object. The method proposed by this paper applies fuzzy logic to the image pre-processing, and then links adjacent objects within the image to designate as region of interest. Sobel edge detection is passed onto the region of interest, and then the ellipse is approximated by the least square method. Spatial calibration can subsequently be performed using data from the detected information of ellipse. By adding fuzzy logic to the image pre-processing, not only can we reduce the area of interest for detection, eliminate some of the noise, and accelerate the detection efficiency, but also improve the level of intelligence of the original surveillance system.

It is proved that combination networks can achieve unbounded network coding gain measured by the ratio of network throughput with network coding to that without network coding in peer-to-peer file sharing system. On the other side, network coding allows the polluted packet generated by a malicious node to corrupt the packets transmission of the entire network. One polluted packet will prevent the other nodes from correct decoding. To settle the problem, we introduce a polluted packets detection method based on multiple vectors orthogonal to the universal set of vectors for the transmitted network coding packets. The main idea of this method is to calculate numbers of orthogonal vectors and send them to different relay nodes and receiver nodes which use them to judge whether the newly received packets are in the subspace based on the source packets. This is a distributed algorithm, without the requirement of an extra secure channel. Through the analysis and simulation in n-layer combination networks case, the computational complexity of the detection algorithm is O(n), n is the packet length, and the detection rate can be greater than 90%.

With the development of automotive industry and transportation, the safety of transportation is huge invisible trouble by bringing great convenience to human being for many years. As result, the reappearance for the simulation of traffic accidents scene is essential. On the other side the reappearance of traffic accidents is not only the method to evaluate the responsibility, analysis the cause, but also to provide the most important materials of prevent and eliminate traffic accidents as possible. OpenGL will be used in this subject which is a graphic library, mainly use on computer graphics and computer image area, especially for computer simulation. Using OpenGL technology to reappearance traffic accidents scene will give the scene of accidents the realest reappearance. This paper proposes researching on reappearance the scene of traffic accidents by OpenGL. In this paper, collision detection (CD) of three dimension (3D) objects will be used. Based on the AABB collision detection, it proposes a new algorithm CAABB collision detection, CAABB will be used on the collision of two objects. There will be two tables to show the difference of using CAABB and without CAABB.

In this paper, we present a new group iterative linear ZF receiver for a MIMO-OFDM system. The signals of all layers are firstly grouped and the signals in every group are detected by linear ZF detection method. The successive interference cancellation detection is applied between the different groups. Computer simulation results state the proposed algorithm achieves marked performance improvement compared to standard linear MIMO ZF detection algorithms. When convolutional encoding is applied, the proposed scheme may almost obtain the same performance of conventional ZF-VBLAST while the complexity of proposed algorithm is reduced by about 25%.

We investigate robust optical wireless communication in a highly scattering propagation medium. Two Maximum-Likelihood (ML) detection algorithms and sub-optimal one are presented for any pulse shape pulse position modulation (PPM) in direct-detection optical channel. They are based on the multi-samples per chip, which can give joint estimation of the symbol and the synchronization clock shift. We also present the results of simulations conducted for the proposed detection algorithm.

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) applications are typically event-driven. While the source codes of these applications may look simple, they are executed with a complicated concurrency model, which frequently introduces software bugs, in particular, transient bugs. Such buggy logics may only be triggered by some occasionally interleaved events that bear implicit dependency, but can lead to fatal system failures. Unfortunately, these deeply-hidden bugs or even their symptoms can hardly be identified by state-of-the-art debugging tools, and manual identification from massive running traces can be prohibitively expensive. In this paper, we present Sentomist (Sensor application anatomist), a novel tool for identifying potential transient bugs in WSN applications. The Sentomist design is based on a key observation that transient bugs make the behaviors of a WSN system deviate from the normal, and thus outliers (i.e., abnormal behaviors) are good indicators of potential bugs. Sentomist introduces the notion of event-handling interval to systematically anatomize the long-term execution history of an event-driven WSN system into groups of intervals. It then applies a customized outlier detection algorithm to quickly identify and rank abnormal intervals. This dramatically reduces the human efforts of inspection (otherwise, we have to manually check tremendous data samples, typically with brute-force inspection) and thus greatly speeds up debugging. We have implemented Sentomist based on the concurrency model of TinyOS. We apply Sentomist to test a series of representative real-life WSN applications that contain transient bugs. These bugs, though caused by complicated interactions that can hardly be predicted during the programming stage, are successfully confined by Sentomist.

We consider serially-concatenated coding schemes over channels impaired by insertion, deletion, and substitution errors. Specifically, we focus on the interleaved concatenation of an outer channel code with error-correction capabilities and an inner marker code with synchronization capabilities. To limit the decoding latency, marker code-based synchronization is performed only once per received packet, i.e., iterations with the outer decoder are not allowed. We first numerically evaluate, through mutual information analyses, the ultimate rate achievable by this concatenated scheme when standard bit-level synchronization is performed. Then, we introduce a novel symbol-level synchronization algorithm that works on groups of consecutive bits, and show that it improves the achievable rate. Besides the achievable rate analyses, which allow us to optimize the marker code, we also report error-rate simulation results that confirm the superiority of symbol-level synchronization.

This works presents the maximum likelihood localization (ML) algorithm for multi-target localization using proximity-based sensor networks. Proximity sensors simply report a single binary value indicating whether or not a target is near. The ML approach requires a hill climbing algorithm to find the peak, and its ability to find the global peak is determined by the initial estimates for the target locations. This paper investigates three methods to initialize the ML algorithm: 1) centroid of k-means clustering, 2) centroid of clique clustering, and 3) peak in the 1-target likelihood surface. To provide a performance bound for the initialization methods, the paper also considers the ground truth target positions as initial estimates. Simulations compare the ability of these methods to resolve and localize two targets. The simulations demonstrate that the clique clustering technique out-performs k-means clustering and is nearly as effective as the 1-target likelihood peak methods at a fraction of the computational cost.

Web access logs contain information which can be converted to represent the access history of individual users. A large number of essential attributes can be extracted from the access history. For example, the access counts of each webpage, the occurrence of different webpage access sequences and the time spent between consecutive accesses. Each of the above attributes represents a dimension in the feature space, and all the attributes together form a very high dimension space. Diffusion Wavelets can efficiently project the high dimensional data onto a low-dimensional space according to the correlations between various attributes, so that common anomaly detection algorithms can be applied. In this paper, we propose a system which leverages this technique to differentiate web-access requests generated by Denial of Service (DoS) attacks from legitimate ones. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed system via simulation studies using real-world web access logs. For a simulated HTTP flooding attack which creates a 1000% overload at the web-server, the proposed scheme can reduce the ratio of the attack-to-legitimate requests admitted by the server from 200:1 to 30:1 so that more than 55% of the legitimate requests can still receive proper services under such a severe DoS attack.

Spectrum sensing is a key aspect in the realization of opportunistic radios, which will allow a significantly more efficient usage of the scarce spectrum resources. This paper presents a solution to upgrade mobile devices with spectrum sensing capabilities. A versatile digital component is proposed to meet a wide variety of use cases, at low cost and low power overhead. Complementary reconfigurable analog front-ends make the radio ready for upgrading wireless connectivity thanks to availability of information on spectrum occupancy.
