Interactive environments for dynamically deforming objects play an important role in virtual environment. These environments require fast and efficient collision detection handling techniques. In this paper, we propose a new collision detection algorithm based on spatial subdivision, which can solve the collision detection problems between deformable objects. The object space is uniformly subdivided into a series of voxels, and then determines whether collision detection will happen by constructing binary sort tree. Based on distribution density of objects, an optimal method is proposed to compute the size of voxels in uniform division, compared to other collision detection algorithm through a serial of tests, the results show that the algorithm this paper proposes is superior in performance when massive objects are uniformly distributed; Besides, the performance of algorithm is more stable than other algorithms in consideration of variable correlation among objects.

This paper suggests a new method for oven detection in those induction heating rice cooker (IH-Jar) circuits that are controlled by DSP. The designed control method calculates oven detection levels based on changes in input currents during oven detection time and averages the input voltages, input currents and outputs during oven detection time thereby enhancing the reliability of oven detection. This new method allows more stable oven detection under the dip or distortion of commercial power supply that may occur in actual field, particularly, in circuits with no separate power factor circuit. The topology of the circuits used in this paper is Quasi-Resonant ZVS-PFM Single-ended.

This paper details the nontrivial extension of the novel Normalized Least Mean Square Zero Forcing (NLMS-ZF) data detection algorithm from single input single output (SISO) to Multiple Inputs Multiple Outputs (MIMO) for the High Speed Data Packet Access (HSDPA) enabled Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) system. The MIMO NLMS-ZF algorithm which utilizes channel state information has had limited success due to difficulty in obtaining both simplicity and a rigorous solution. Even so, with only an approximate solution, it still performs better than the NLMS data detection algorithm for fast-varying channels.

Neural network can be used in anomaly detection. In order to improve the traditional IDS (intrusion detection system) performance, we often had to change the network structure and detection algorithm. And because intrusion techniques are most variable and unpredictable, we cannot always use the fixed detection techniques to catch exactly all possible intrusions. It is therefore important to investigate novel detection methods and IDS models. In this paper, a model of intrusion detection system based on BP neural network is proposed through analyzing features of program behavior. Head milled rice online detection implements dynamical image sampling and analysis, and then generates decision signals in the process of rice falling. Thereby, an efficient detection algorithm is very important for the fast falling rice selection. Since the traditional diameter classical search algorithm causes much loss of time and resources, we propose a center-edge rotation search algorithm whose complexity is only O(n). The main principle of the algorithm is to search the max diameter by traversing from the image center point to edge pixe points. The algorithm is simulated and tested on the ISE8.2i software platform and head milled rice testing machine. Finite-state machine is written with VHDL, and operations of multiplication and nuclear-rooting are realized by using IP core. The results show that processing an image consumes 2.7 ms, the error is below 10%. The algorithm improves efficiency, and also meets the demands in the accuracy of diameter results. There will be great prospects on the dynamical and real-time selection of head milled rice.

In this article, we present a ball detection algorithm based on color information and Hough transform. Our objective is to detect the color balls under complex environments and different illumination conditions. To do so, we firstly apply the multiscale Retinex algorithm to enhance the image. Then, an adaptive Hough transform is introduced to locate the position of the balls in order to reduce the influence of the complex environments. Thirdly, to detect the interested balls under different illumination conditions, we introduce color invariant model Grayworld normalization (GN) to overcome the influence of the illumination. Finally, to evaluate the proposed ball detection in practice, experiments have been carried out on 100 images taken from various illuminations. On the basis of the reported theory and experimental results, it is shown that high interested ball detection accuracy is achieved by our proposed method.

detection of OFDM transmissions with interspersed pilot symbols is considered. A hard output detection algorithm developed by Taricco et. al. for flat fading channels is extended for this frequency selective scenario. In the investigated systems with 128 subcarriers, this algorithm outperforms conventional approaches and performs close to a genie aided receiver even with the use of a single pilot symbol for the whole frame. Furthermore, a novel soft output generating algorithm is developed, which is more suitable for channel coded systems. The resultant algorithm is capable of detecting coded OFDM transmissions with fewer pilot symbols than that required for noiseless channel identification.

Digital mammography is used more and more each day in comparison with screen film mammography (SFM). Main advantage of digital mammography for image processing is the use of images with few or no artifacts that can occur on SFM images. Finding breast border contour is therefore easier and gives more precise results. On the other hand, detection of pectoral muscle and breast abnormalities has almost the same results in both cases. The presence of pectoral muscle can affect results of lesion detection algorithms so it is recommended to have it removed from the image. detection and segmentation of pectoral muscle can also help in image registration for further analysis of breast abnormalities such as bilateral asymmetry. Algorithm presented in this paper uses hybrid method for the pectoral muscle detection. Proposed method uses bit depth reduction and wavelet decomposition for finding pectoral muscle border. Algorithm has been tested on the set of 40 digital mammography images.

In cognitive radio systems, secondary users should determine correctly whether the primary user is absent or not in a certain spectrum within a short detection period. Traditional spectrum sensing schemes based on fixed threshold are sensitive to noise uncertainty, a fractional fluctuate of average noise power in a short time will lead to the accuracy of spectrum detection decreasing seriously. In this paper we propose a novel dynamic threshold energy detection algorithm in cognitive radio systems. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the proposed strategy can combat the noise uncertainty effectively, and good detection accuracy can be attained, if a suitable detection threshold is chosen. That is, the proposed scheme can enhance the robustness of combating the noise uncertainty and veracities of the spectrum sensing.

Shot change detection is a main technique for automatic temporal segmentation of video, which requires adaptive adjustment of thresholds. In this paper, we propose an adaptive shot change detection algorithm using histograms of frames within extension sliding window. The proposed method generates an adaptive threshold which is calculated by an average of absolute difference histogram within extension sliding window. We obtained better the detection rate than conventional methods maximally 10% in F1. The proposed method will be helpful in searching video data on various applications.
