A QRS detection method based on the combined wavelet entropy (CWS) is proposed for two-channel ECG signals. The raw ECG signals from two channels are firstly transformed by the continuous wavelet transform within a selected frequency interval, which can effectively suppress the interference and only focus on the QRS component. The wavelet entropy (WS) based method is employed to analyze the ECG signal from channel 1 based on an automated threshold determination. This method may fail when the current RR interval is larger than 1.5 times the average RR interval. Here, another WS has to be calculated for ECG signal from channel 2, and the CWS is defined as the sum of WS from two channel signals. The time evolution of the CWS is calculated, which can enhance detection results by using the QRS information coming from both channels. Experimental results indicate that this proposed method achieves an average detection rate of 99.84%, a sensitivity of 99.91%, and a positive prediction of 99.93% over both two leads of ECG signals from the MIT-BIH arrhythmia database, which outperform some published results of other detection algorithms.

After analyzing localization algorithm currently used in sensor networks,a new movement detection algorithm is introduced for active localization based on Doppler frequency shift (DFS) phenomenon. The aim of this detection algorithm is to find whether Doppler localization is out of work. The result of detection can be used as a criterion for algorithm adjustment. Simulation results shows that this hypothesis test based detection algorithm can be used to precisely find low speed moving object.

Efficient and effective feature extraction algorithms are required in the analysis of long records electrocardiographic (ECG) signals. In this paper a computationally efficient method is proposed as a feature extractor for P waves in ECG signals. The performance of the proposed algorithm was tested on 29 records of the MIT/BIH Arrhythmia Database resulting in 0.72% incorrectly detected P waves.

Cognitive radio is an emerging technology in communication systems. Cognitive radios aim to relief the shortage of spectral resources by identifying and exploiting underutilized radio spectrum. A key task of the cognitive radio is spectrum sensing in order to find free spectrum and detect licensed spectrum user transmissions. In this paper, an FPGA implementation of a feature detector for OFDM-based primary user signals is presented. The detection algorithm, that was originally presented in , is modified in order to achieve power and area efficient hardware realization. The algorithm is implemented in an FPGA evaluation environment, and the performance is verified in simulation.

The video segmentation is a main technique for automatic management of video data. We propose the video segmentation algorithm using thresholds and weighting based on moving sliding window. The proposed method generates threshold and weighting factor using feature value of frame on moving sliding window. And we improve our algorithms to apply adaptive for various video data. We apply variable weighting according to the number of fade-out frame to remove missed-detection by fade-our transition. We obtained better the detection rate than conventional methods based on histogram about 2.5% in F1.

In order to synthetically utilize the multisteganalysis algorithms, and ulteriorly enhance the detection accuracy, the United-Judgment methods based on parameterestimation were proposed for image steganalysis. According to two types of universal blind detection and specific steganalysis, a United-Judgment method based on weight and threshold, and also a method based on segment were proposed in this paper. Experiments were both made for the former method with seven kinds of typical blind detection algorithms and the latter one with five kinds of typical spatial domain steganalysis algorithms, respectively. The results showed that the proposed methods can synthetically utilize the existing detection algorithms, and comparing the results with a separate use of only one algorithm, the proposed methods could achieve higher detection accuracy.

We propose a new tracking framework by organizing nodes into a polygonal spatial neighborhood in order to detect and track unauthorized traversals in surveillance wireless sensor networks. During a tracking, the neighborhood is further constructed ahead of the target traversal, and this features a timely forwarding with guaranteed delivery property. Instead of estimating future movement and position separately in a polygon, we find an original target tracking path in a graph, and create a brink on the graph called "critical region'' by introducing a brink detection algorithm to know a target's route, and to also achieve reliable inter-node communications. In addition to the basic design, an optimal sensor selection algorithm was developed to select which sensors to query, and dynamically guide the target information to a sink. Simulation results validated that the proposed approach has better tracking accuracy, reduced localization error, and is robust to strong environment noise, while using a minimum number of sensors.

We introduce an algorithm that uses stock sector information directly in conjunction with time series subsequences for mining core patterns within the sectors of stock market data. The core patterns within a sector are representative groups of stocks for the sector when it shows coherent behavior. Multiple core patterns may exist in a sector at the same time. In comparison with clustering algorithms, the core patterns are shown to be more stable as the stock price evolves. The proposed algorithm has only one free parameter, for which we provide an empirical choice. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the algorithm through a comparison with the DBScan clustering algorithm using data from the Standard and Poor 500 Index.

P2P storage systems have a lot of attractive advantages, such as self-organizing, scalability, robust and fault-tolerant. Unfortunately, there are some problems in real network conditions, especially, when considering asynchronous wide-area networks, where messages may be delayed indefinitely and nodes may fail. So, failure detector is one of basic components to build a reliable P2P storage systems. Considering the highly dynamic characteristics of distributed system, a novel dynamic failure detector, which can combine heartbeat strategy with unbiased grey prediction model, is designed to improve the failure detection quality of service (QoS) according to the application needs and network environment changes. The results show that, on the basis of the algorithm implementation failure detector has better performance. Compared to other failure detector, ours is much efficient and adaptive.

In this paper, we study the self lane assignment problem, i.e. given an image taken inside a vehicle, infer on which lane the image is taken. This problem serves as an example of active egocentric vision application with data fusion. In this application, a camera is mounted inside the vehicle looking outside to the world. Combined with a GPS with a digital map this smart mobile camera is capable of reasoning on which lane the vehicle is. This inference result is then fed back to the GPS to provide the driver with more intelligent navigation instructions. We form the self lane assignment inference problem as a scene classification problem which requires classifying scenes in finer categories than the traditional case. We design the features to represent the image in a holistic way bypassing individual object detection, develop an automatic horizon detection algorithm, and employ and compare three learning algorithms for decision making on the lane number. The experiment results show that our method can achieve the precision and recall rates around or above 90% at the same time.
