Diffraction tomographic algorithm for the detection of three-dimensional objects buried in a lossy half-space

A diffraction, tomographic (DT) algorithm has been proposed for detecting three-dimensional (3-D) dielectric objects buried in a lossy ground, using electric dipoles or magnetic dipoles as transmitter and receiver, where the air-earth interface has been taken into account and the background is lossy. To derive closed-form reconstruction formulas, an approximate generalized Fourier transform is introduced. Using this algorithm, the locations, shapes, and dielectric properties of buried objects can be well reconstructed tinder the low-contrast condition, and the objects can be well detected even when the contrast is high. Due to the use of fast Fourier transforms to implement the problem, the proposed algorithm is fast and quite tolerant to the error of measurement data, making it possible to solve realistic problems. Reconstruction examples are given to show the validity of the algorithm.

An algorithm is proposed for detection, in a sequence of images, of small-scale objects moving with a known velocity vector, the initial positions of the objects being unknown. Random noise is suppressed by four-channel filtration based on estimating subpixel coordinates of the objects in the sequence of images. Results of numerical experiments are presented as a dependence of the detection probability on the false alarm level for different object sizes and input noise levels.

The world's ocean depths conceal a big mystery, and obtaining the information contained therein is a significant challenge that must be overcome. With the advent of computer vision technologies and robotics, the underwater environment is explored recently. The vast data collected from numerous underwater sensors have a variety of complications related to inadequate image quality, difficulty in acquiring training samples, and uncontrolled objects in the underwater environment. When these images are processed using machine learning techniques that involve manual intervention, the time taken to process a huge amount of images will be relatively high and prone to errors. To tackle these, we propose a novel hybrid capuchin-based coevolving particle swarm optimization ((HCPSO)-P-2) algorithm with a ResNet model of Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architecture for underwater object identification. This work mainly aims to explore different underwater objects such as fish, corals, sea urchins, etc. The speckle-reducing anisotropic diffusion (SRAD) filter performs the pre-processing step. The denoising autoencoder (DA) is used for feature extraction which can enhance the partially distorted sample images and offer increased robustness. To overcome the overfitting issue in CNN, the (HCPSO)-P-2 algorithm is used. The experimental works are handled in MATLAB software. Both with and without pre-processing results in terms of SRAD filter are checked and evaluated. The proposed method's effectiveness is evaluated through various measures like accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, false-positive rate, false-negative rates, etc. The accuracy of the (HCPSO)-P-2-CNN classifier is higher when compared to the standard CNN classifier in recognizing the underwater objects when evaluated with different performance metrics.

A new nonparametric statistical test for testing the hypothesis of homogeneity of three samples against an alternative hypothesis, which implies that random variables of one of these samples tend to be stochastically greater than random variables of each of the other two samples separately, is proposed. The known Whitney test is equivalent to a particular case of the new test. Application of these tests in a real difficult problem of detection of a specified extended object in a noisy image in a situation with possible appearance of another "interfering" object of a greater size is considered.

New nonparametric statistics and a criterion (test) based on them are proposed to check the hypothesis of homogeneity of three and two samples, where one sample contains an even number of elements and, hence, can be divided into two samples, against an alternative hypothesis, which implies that random values of one sample are stochastically greater than random values of two other samples. The test is mainly sensitive to shifts of distributions and is more powerful than the WilcoxonMann- Whitney and Whitney tests, at least for problems with samples from exponential and uniform distributions.

Application of stochastic approximation in an infinite-dimensional Hilbert space to the problem of object detection on one observed image distorted by noise and to the problem of fast detection of object arrival in a sequence of noisy images is considered. No a priori information is assumed to be available. The observer is supposed to have two stochastically independent sequences of independent "exact" noisy images, one containing and one not containing the object that has to be (repeatedly) detected by the observer in the nearest time.

the features of modern methods for detecting and determining the coordinates of small unmanned aerial vehicles using a two-position ground radar system are considered. It is proposed to use the methods developed for multi-sensor radar systems. The limitations and advantages of the two-position radar system are shown. The main potential characteristics of the system and the corresponding restrictions on the conditions of its effective application are determined. Potential characteristics are obtained by simulation methods using mathematical models built on the basis of experimental data.

The dynamic analysis of objects in video sequences is real time detection of objects. This kind of analysis is mainly used in traffic surveillance. This paper presents a novel approach in which an object is tracked by combining video analytics with geometry. The size, shape changes based on the object motion and pose with respect to the camera view. The mensuration of a given object with respect to its distance from the camera, at a given focal length helps us in arriving at real world correspondences. The corner points of the object will enable us to find the required velocity. The velocity calculated helps us in finding the suspiciousness of the object. It generates false alarms whenever a suspicious object is detected.

the paper proposes an algorithm for the formation of high-resolution radar image coordinates azimuth-range in the front viewing area of the two-position radar system. The results of simulation of the proposed algorithm, allowing to estimate the magnitude of the methodical error of the algorithm and the gain in increasing the resolution of the system in azimuthal coordinate are presented.
