Defects in TSV not only lead to variation in the propagation delay but also in the transition delay of the net connected to the TSV. A non-invasive approach for pre-bond TSV test based on pulse shrinkage is proposed to detect resistive open and leakage fault. TSVs are used as capacitive loads of their driving gates, then the pulse visiting the cyclic shrinkage cells will be shrunk until it vanishes completely. The shrinkage amount is digitized into a digital code to compare with an expected value of fault free. Experiments on fault detection are presented through HSPICE simulations using realistic models for a 45 nm CMOS technology. The results show the effectiveness in the detection of resistive open defects 0.2 k Omega above and equivalent leakage resistance less than 40 M Omega. The estimated design for testability area cost of our method is negligible for realistic dies.

A 2-bit reconfigurable reflector for potential microfluidic-based implementation of reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) in sub-THz band is proposed. This innovative method capitalizes on the actuation of liquid metal droplets to implement a digitally-coded reconfigurable reflector which operates at 140 GHz. Reflections are designed towards 6.4 degrees and 9.2 degrees using column-controlled unit cells which are reconfigured by actuating liquid metal (EGaIn) droplets filled in cavities of a commercial PCB substrate. Results validated by full-wave simulations indicate that a small height displacement of a flexible surface under each unit cell by between 20-35 mu m enables the 90 degrees phase changes between the four states of the unit cells.

At first they were little more than a wireless version of a barcode, mostly used for stocktaking. But from these mundane beginnings radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags are spreading, and they could soon be keeping tabs on every one of us. This has privacy advocates worried, and they are campaigning for safeguards to be built into the still-to-be-finalised standards for RFID. Most RFID tags are nothing more than a simple combination of a chip and antenna, and act as a passive transponder. When prompted by a signal from a reading device, the tag sends back a digital code stored in its memory. The power the tag needs comes from the reader's radio signal.

In this paper, a wideband digital signal transceiver module is designed by digital simulation system. The research content is mainly oriented to the needs of big data information collection and forwarding and reception. It studies the digital baseband signal uplink sending module and digital baseband signal downlink receiving module in the communication system, including signal acquisition, encoding, digital modulation, digital demodulation, decoding, recovery and restoration. And other functional principles. With reference to the US NMEA-0183 agreement, the international telemetry standard IRIG-106 and the national military standard GJB-21 telemetry standard, the multi-channel digital multiplexing technology is used to implement a variety of baseband digital information sharing channel processing methods. The research focuses on baseband signal processing transceiver modules and Information receiving simulation design technology.

This paper reports an inductive CMOS MEMS accelerometer with integrated variable inductors as the position-sensing elements. Without conventional sensing comb fingers, the dependence of device characteristics on stress-induced structural deformation can be significantly reduced. The variable inductors are used in on-chip LC-tank oscillators. When the external acceleration deforms the inductors, the oscillation frequency variation is proportional to the inductance change and thus the acceleration. The frequency output can be easily converted to digital codes by using a counter. The integrated accelerometer was implemented by a commercial 0.18 μm 1P5M CMOS process and post-CMOS dry-etching processes. Experimental results showed the proposed accelerometer had a sensitivity of 150 kHz/g.

In this paper, the authors introduce the background of DNA cryptography, and briefly describe the features of DNA molecular, key bio-technologies and related software. And then the authors study the difficult biological problem which is the key and basic part in designing of DNA encryption, and put forward our own difficult problem which is that it is difficult to assembly when overlaps are destroyed and prove its difficulty with examples. After analysis of encoding of DNA and mechanism of symmetric encryption, the authors design a symmetric system using the technology of DNA digital coding and DNA fragment assembly. The security analysis proves that the scheme has high confidential strength.

The quality of wireless video delivery is susceptible to wireless channel instability, including channel fading, interference, noise, and packet loss. To improve the video quality in such wireless channels, analog transmission schemes have been proposed recently. However, the existing analog schemes have two drawbacks in high energy of video signals and loss resilience. To overcome the issues, we propose a new hybrid digital-analog transmission scheme, which jointly uses digital coding and analog coding based on compressive sensing. digital coding generates the residual signals between the original and the encoded signals to decrease the energy of data for analog coding. Compressive sensing redistributes the energy across whole video packets to increase the resistance to packet loss. We show that our proposed hybrid scheme improves video quality by up to 11.6 dB compared to the existing analog scheme in an erasure wireless channel. In addition, our proposed scheme also improves video quality by 1.5 dB compared to the existing hybrid scheme.

We present a real-time video delivery solution based on free-space optical communication for underwater applications. This solution comprises of AquaOptical II, a high-bandwidth wireless optical communication device, and a two-layer digital encoding scheme designed for error-resistant communication of high resolution images. Our system can transmit digital video reliably through a unidirectional underwater channel, with minimal infrastructural overhead. We present empirical evaluation of this system's performance for various system configurations, and demonstrate that it can deliver high quality video at up to 15 Hz, with near-negligible communication latencies of 100 ms. We further characterize the corresponding end-to-end latencies, i.e. from time of image acquisition until time of display, and reveal optimized results of under 200 ms, which facilitates a wide range of applications such as underwater robot tele-operation and interactive remote seabed monitoring.

The widespread existence of digital wireless communication installations and digital broadcasting stations makes the application of passive radar using these stations as illuminators attractive. Passive radar systems using analog FM radio transmitters have been designed and systems are now commercially available. The disadvantage of FM-systems is that the autocorrelation function of the transmit waveform, which determines the detection and resolution properties of the radar, is dependent on the emitted radio program. Modern digital audio or video broadcast (DAB/DVB) signals have an autocorrelation function practically independent of the information content due to digital coding and are therefore much better suited for passive radar purposes. Currently there is a widespread activity in developing DAB/DVB passive radar systems [1, 2]. However, the usage of identical frequencies causes a number of problems (e.g. ghost targets) which are not easy to solve. Base stations of GSM mobile phone systems are also suitable illuminators, because they are widely spread (even in sparsely populated regions), have digital coding, and use frequency diversity. The large number and availability of base stations makes such systems very attractive. However, to this day the number of applications of such radar systems is still comparably small. The key problem of passive radar is the detection of the weak echo in the presence of the strong direct signal. Modern space-time array signal processing methods for interference suppression and signal enhancement are required. Therefore antenna arrays are mandatory for passive radar. Another factor to improve system performance is the exploitation of multiple transmitters.
