Two-Way SWIPT Relaying networks with Nonlinear Power Splitting, digital network coding and Selection Combining

This paper studies nonlinear energy harvesting of decode-and-forward relay in a two-way cooperation system with simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT). The radio signals in the system are transmitted through relaying and direct links in three timeslots over Rayleigh fading channels. The selection combining method is used to select better signal from two links, thereby improving the quality of received signals at destination. Besides, power splitting and digital network coding techniques are employed at the relay to harvest energy, decode received signals and re-encode transmitted signal. The exact closed-form analytical and approximate expressions of the outage probability are derived and validated via Monte Carlo simulations. We also investigate the outage probability as a function of the main parameters as the transmit power of the source, the saturation threshold power, the power allocation coefficient, the energy conversion efficiency, the time allocation ratio of the signal phase and the location of the relay to see their influence on the system. The results show that the proposed system can achieve smaller outage probabilities compared to the case does not have the direct link. And for each specific set of system parameters, we can find an optimal power allocation coefficient value so that the system has the smallest outage probability.

In this paper, we propose a new approach based on combination of successive interference cancellation (SIC), digital network coding (DNC), and opportunistic relay selection in a two-way cooperative scheme in which two source nodes send simultaneously their packets to each other with a help of multiple relaying nodes, called as SIC-DNC protocol. In the proposed SIC-DNC protocol, the cooperative relays use the SIC technique to decode sequentially the packets from received sum signals, and then encode these packets by the DNC technique. These relays operate in the half-duplex mode, and suffer interference signals from imperfect SIC operations. A best relay is selected by the opportunistic relay selection based on taking maximization of signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratios from a successful decoding relay set to two source nodes in the last time slot. Exact and asymptotic closed-form outage probability expressions are obtained to evaluate the proposed SIC-DNC protocol, and then are verified by performing the Monte Carlo simulations. Our results show performance improvement of the proposed SIC-DNC protocol because of increase of the number of the cooperative relays, decrease of the residual interference signal powers, and respect to optimal relay locations and optimal power allocation coefficients of the near source. In addition, insightful comparisons with a conventional two-way decode-and-forward scheme are provided to prove highlight performances in asymmetric two-way cooperative schemes whereas the proposed SIC-DNC protocol owns better spectrum utilization efficiency. Finally, the simulation results are harvested to valid the exact and asymptotic analysis values.

This paper examines the average error performance of a three-phase digital network coding scheme that employs single antenna selection for orthogonal frequency-division multiplexed signal transmission in frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channels. The average error performance of the scheme with a single-antenna relay is observed for convolutional-coded M-ary symbols in the presence of channel estimation errors. An improved antenna selection criterion providing enhanced performance gains is proposed and demonstrated.

Opportunistic relaying with analogue and digital network coding for two-way parallel relay network

A pair of terminals exchanging information via a layer of parallel relay nodes under slow fading is considered. Two protocols are proposed based on the combination of opportunistic relaying (OR) with analogue network coding (ANC), named ORANC, or with digital network coding (DNC), named ORDNC, respectively. Two schemes/versions of ORDNC, including 2-phase ORDNC (2P-ORDNC) and 3-phase ORDNC (3P-ORDNC) are proposed. Their outage performances are investigated. ORANC and 2P-ORDNC are proved to achieve optimal diversity-multiplexing tradeoff (DMT), whereas 3P-ORDNC is proved to be suboptimal. However, from diversity viewpoint only, all the above schemes are proven to achieve full diversity order. Simulation results verify the analysis, and show that 3P-ORDNC and ORANC shows advantage at low-and high-data rate regions, respectively.

In this paper, the information packets from the two end nodes are transmitted to the intermediate relay node with the help of store and forward routing solution to increase the network capacity in two-way relay network is analyzed with the concept of digital network coding. For this relay system, we investigate the outage probability and Ergodic capacity in Rician and Nakagami-m fading environment. It is observed from the simulation results that by increasing the K values for various m values, the outage probability is minimized and maximum Ergodic capacity is achieved.

Single-relay selection techniques based on themax-min criterion can achieve the highest bit error rate(BER)performance with full diversity gain as compared to the state-of-the-art single-relay selection ***,in this work,we propose a modified max-min criterion by considering the differences among the close value channels of all relays while selecting the best relay *** proposed criterion not only enjoys full diversity gain but also offers a significant improvement in the achievable coding gain as compared to the conventional ***,in this article,an improved bi-directional three-phase single-relay selection technique using the decodeand-forward protocol for wireless cooperative communication networks that enhances the overall network performance in terms of BER is proposed and its performance is proved analytically and through Monte-Carlo *** specifically,the proposed criterion is first used to select the best *** that the selected relay-node forwards the information symbols of the communicating terminals after performing a digital network coding to minimize power *** our simulations,we show that our proposed technique outperforms the best-known single relay selection ***,we prove that the BER results obtained from our conducted simulations perfectly match those obtained from the theoretical analysis.

A Beamforming Technique Using Rotman Lens Antenna for Wireless Relay networks

Rotman lens,which is a radio frequency beam-former that consists of multiple input and multiple output beam ports,can be used in industrial,scientific,and medical applications as a beam steering *** input ports collect the signals to be propagated through the lens cavity toward the output ports before being transmitted by the antenna arrays to the destination in order to enhance the error performance by optimizing the overall signal to noise ratio(SNR).In this article,a low-cost Rotman lens antenna is designed and deployed to enhance the overall performance of the conventional cooperative communication systems without needing any additional power,extra time or frequency *** the suggested system,the smart Rotman lens antennas generate a beam steering in the direction of the destination to maximize the received SNR at the destination by applying the proposed optimal beamforming *** suggested optimal beamforming technique enjoys high diversity,as well as,low encoding and decoding ***,we proved the advantages of our suggested strategy through both theoretical results and simulations using Monte Carlo *** Monte Carlo simulations show that the suggested strategy enjoys better error performance compared to the current state-of-the-art distributed multiantenna *** addition,the bit error rate(BER)curves drawn from the analytical results are closely matching to those drawn from our conducted Monte Carlo simulations.

In this paper, we propose a novel decode-and-forward dual-relay selection technique based on Alamouti space time coding for twoway wireless relay networks (TWRNs). The two- and the threephase TWRN protocol are used in the first and second version of the proposed technique, respectively, to exchange the information symbols of the communicating terminals. In order not to waste any power for transmitting information symbols known at any terminal and hence to improve the achievable coding gain, the proposed technique uses the concept of digital network coding in which the transmitted symbols of both terminals are combined at the relays into a symbol of the same constellation. To further improve the reliability of the communication and offer additional coding gain, Alamouti space time coding is incorporated in our technique. Simulation results show a substantially improved bit error rate (BER) performance of the proposed techniques as compared to the the state-of-the art techniques.

Impact of channel correlation on network coded cooperation with two sources

In this paper, we consider digital network Coded Cooperation (DNCC) with Decode-and-Forward (DF) relaying scheme in correlated environment. In order to quantify the performance of DNCC network, analytical closed form expression of the outage probability for Non-Line of Sight (NLoS) correlated environments is derived. For the sake of completeness and comparison, investigation of uncorrelated environments is also presented. Unlike existing investigations, it is observed that spatial correlation among channels considerably improves the performance of such networks. In particular, detrimental effects of the digital network coding (DNC) noise is abated by the channel correlation. Additionally a discussion on various deterministic geometries for such networks is also presented to get further insights about node placement. Cumulative Distribution Function (CDF) obtained for Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) of relay path can be utilized for performing diversity calculations. Outage closed form expressions derived may be used to choose network parameters judiciously in different NLoS correlated scenarios for achieving better Quality of Service (QoS) in next generation wireless networks.
