In this paper, a new hierarchical robust control approach based on decentralized and distributed schemes is proposed for voltage regulation and power sharing in islanded DC microgrids. In this method, using a decentralized robust PI control structure, the primary voltage control loop is designed based on Kharitonov's theorem to be robust against uncertainties and disturbances. Then, using a distributed PI robust control, the voltage deviation caused by the droop control is compensated. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed controller under different disturbances by using the MATLAB/SimPowerSystems toolbox. In addition, the proposed controller can increase microgrid reliability due to exchanging low data volume in communication channels.

This paper presents a network-wide latency monitoring method, called C-LLDP-monitoring, for large-scale Software Defined Networks (SDNs) with multiple controllers constructing a hierarchical control plane. C-LLDP-monitoring first uses each local controller in the lower layer to repeatedly inject Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) packets into its managed network domain to obtain the round-trip time (RTT) of links within the domain, and uses the root controller to receive the packets from the border switch in the neighboring domain to obtain the RRT of links between two neighboring domains, and then calculates the total network-wide path latency over the entire network. It avoids uncertainties introduced by the control channel and clock frequencies of different devices, requires no dedicated network infrastructure, and achieves continuous and accurate network-wide latency monitoring across large-scale multi-domain SDNs. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, H infinity observer-based consensus for a class of nonlinear multiagent systems (MASs) with actu-ator saturation and input delays are estimated. A new delay-dependent region partitioning approach has been introduced in multiagent systems. The state information of the leader can be obtained by designing a distributed observer for each follower. Based on the state information of the follower and the estimated state information of the neighbouring agents, a distributed controller has been developed. With the help of a novel Lyapunov-Krasovakii functional (LKF), using a region partitioning approach combined with Wirtinger inequalities, a sufficient condition is established in terms of Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI). Finally, simulation examples are presented to the applicability of the proposed theoretical results.

Finite-time motion planning with collision avoidance is a challenging issue in multi-agent systems. This paper proposes a novel distributed controller based on a new Lyapunov barrier function which guarantees finite-time stability for multi-agent systems without collisions. First, the problem of finite-time motion planning of multi-agent systems is formulated. Then, a novel finite-time distributed controller is developed based on a Lyapunov barrier function. Finally, numerical simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed method.

We introduce a method to form and maintain a flock of drones only based on relative distance measurements. This means our approach is able to work in GPS-denied environments. It is fully distributed and therefore does not need any information exchange between the individual drones. Relative distance measurements to other drones and information about its own relative movement are used to estimate the current state of the environment. This makes it possible to perform lookahead and estimate the next state for any potential next movement. A distributed cost function is then used to determine the best next action in every time step. Using a high-fidelity simulation environment, we show that our approach is able to form and maintain a flock for a set of drones.

The research generalizes the traditional asymptotic waveform evaluation method only with first order poles to the method with higher order poles case. We discuss the invertibility of the induced generalized Vandermonde matrix with the determinant formula of the matrix. Via establishing the equivalence of the multiplicity of the poles and the coefficients of the introduced matrix, the generalized asymptotic waveform evaluation algorithm is built. Then the real system realization of the lower order poles-residues form is asserted. At last two experiments are provided to check the validity of our algorithm.

This article studies the finite-time observer-based leader-following consensus problem for a class of nonlinear multiagent systems with nonuniform time-varying input delays. Existing works usually assume that input delays are the same constants and the input of the leader is available for each follower. In this article, we propose a new distributed consensus algorithm to relax the conservative condition. A novel finite-time distributed observer is designed for each follower, which can accurately estimate the state information of the leader in a setting time. By means of the observer, the distributed controller is proposed for each follower, and it depends only on the state information of the follower and the estimated-state information of its neighbor agents. Based on the Lyapunov stability theory, it is strictly proved that all agents can achieve a consensus. Finally, the effectiveness of the theoretical results is verified by numerical simulation on a group of single-link manipulators.

Energy Storage Systems (ESS) are essential elements of all DC microgrids to compensate for the uncertainties in renewable resources. When multiple ESS operate in parallel, their State of Charges (SoC) can deviate from each other if there is no control over them. Moreover, each ESS with its own converter has a dynamic that can respond to a specific load current frequency. Conventional droop controllers lack the consideration of these two concepts. By manipulating the droop controllers and through the introduction of non-linear droop controllers, ESS's dynamics can be taken into consideration. In this paper, a novel method of battery management is proposed to consider these criteria simultaneously. Simulation and hardware in the loop results demonstrate the proposed method effectiveness.

A distinctive feature of software-defined networking (SDN) is a logically centralized control plane realized using multiple physical controllers. The placement of the controllers, the so-called controller placement problem (CPP), is a crucial design issue. It influences network performance parameters such as latency, flow setup time, network availability, load balance of the controllers, and energy consumption. In this article, we illustrate the formulation of these CPP objectives. We categorize the CPP design solutions as either static or adaptive. In adaptive CPP, the solutions proposed dynamically adapt to the number of controllers required and the switch to controller mapping to varying network traffic. We further differentiate adaptive CPP as wired or wireless. The optimization strategies adopted by the papers are analyzed and grouped into five categories: exact, heuristic, meta-heuristic, clustering, and game theory. The merits and demerits of each approach are discussed. In conclusion, we outline the research challenges worth investigating.
