In this paper, we present a novel Multipoint Video Conferencing (MVC) architecture based on Peer-to-Peer (P2P) platform, such as Gnutella where the Multipoint Control Unit (mcu) is dynamically migrated among the participating peers. The proposed architecture minimizes network traffic and delays by choosing Weighted Center of Graph (WCG) as mcu using an election protocol. We optimize frequency of mcu migration to avoid performance degradation for continuous mcu movement. For large scale video conferencing, single peer mcu can be the bottleneck. So, we distribute the responsibilities of mcu over peers throughout the network applying constraints on bandwidth and computing capacity of each peer. The experimental result shows that the system of distributed Dynamic mcu (DDmcu) with WCG mostly outperforms systems mediated by distributed Static mcu (DSmcu).

The Internet explosion is driving the need for new collaboration tools which will enable two or more users to share data, audio, and video, The real-time packet-based solutions which are emerging differ considerably from the circuit-switch solutions which have existed for some time now, In this paper, we present one such packet-based approach, the Multimedia Multiparty Teleconferencing (MMT) system, which was fully implemented as a research prototype. Using MMT as an example, we address some of the fundamental issues related to videoconferencing systems in a packet-based environment, and discuss the differences with the traditional circuit-switch approaches, namely, the ITU H.320 standard, In particular, MMT is a distributed solution, while H.320 is centralized. The use of multicast and a novel video-mixing technique to facilitate the distributed solution are presented. Furthermore, MMT audio and video streams are susceptible to congestion and packet loss in the shared media packet-based environment, while H.320 streams use dedicated connections, As such, synchronization, error resilience, and dynamic rate control schemes for the packet-based system are presented.

Many methods have been proposed for Internet conference management. However the existing approaches need careful prearrangement or end system with high capacity. We propose an alternative distributed Internet conference control approach in this paper, which the end systems are organized in hierarchy based on their capacity and the access network bandwidth. The new approach can make sure low capacity end systems get into conference with high probability and keep load balance among the network. The new approach is presented in detail in this paper and verified by intensive simulations. The simulation results prove that the new approach can reach optimal network topology with limited topology adjustment steps.
