The increasing use of energy conversion facilities has highlighted the interdependence between energy systems. Current literature has paid enormous attention to integrated heat-power networks and particularly focused on a holistic optimization framework. However, distribution networks and district heating networks belong to different entities and hold varied interests. In this paper, we propose a market model of integrated heat-power systems and a distributed algorithm for solving the equilibrium point. In the market model, energy trading between the heat market and the power market are taken into account, as well as the response of heterogeneous energy consumers to price signals from the markets. Besides, electricity and heat consumers are separately modeled based on corresponding features to make the modelling more accurate. In the solution method, a distributed algorithm based on fixed-point iteration is implemented after the model reformulation, to seek the market equilibrium with sensitive information of both networks well preserved. Numerical experiments are conducted on a testing system to validate the proposed model and the solution method.

Blockchain is now a widespread technology. However, achieving mass adoption for specific applications requires overcoming several challenges inherent to the use of distributed algorithms and cryptographic primitives, which are central to blockchain technology. One of the main obstacles is interoperability between different blockchains, as each blockchain acts as an isolated environment. To address the interoperability problem, it is essential to use off-chain processes capable of interconnecting the blockchains in question. If the interconnected blockchains are private or consortium-based, attention must be paid to both the confidentiality of the data exchanged and the authority of those authorised to operate on them. We propose a novel approach in which each blockchain implements its own off-chain component. Each off-chain component does not communicate with the others and uses a threshold digital signature scheme as cryptographic proof aimed at improving the control and management of inter-chain transactions, alongside computational complexity reductions.

This paper introduces an innovative decentralized peer-to-peer (P2P) renewable energy (RE) and renewable energy certificate (REC) coordinated trading mechanism. Renewable energy system (RES) owners act as sellers in this market, engaging in contracts with consumers desiring to purchase both RE and REC, contingent on their REC inventory and forecasted RE output. Consumers, in turn, serve as buyers, procuring RE to meet their load requirements and implementing REC and RE to fulfill their RE accommodation needs. The settlement of RE trades is based on the actual RE output, with shortfall compensated by RES owners who purchase equivalent RE in the real-time energy market and REC in the wholesale REC market. We formulate the trading problem utilizing a scenario-based approach and devise a distributed algorithm based on the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) with a communication saving strategy for solution of the trading problem. The outcomes demonstrate that the proposed method effectively facilitates RE and REC P2P trading, fostering increased RE integration and meeting consumers' RE accommodation requirements.

This paper proposes a market mechanism that enables the advanced distribution management system (ADMS) for energy trading in the local energy market. Two primary functions of the ADMS are discussed: reducing operational costs and coordinating the energy community (EC). The integration of these two functionalities considers all the constraints for maintaining distribution system reliability. Two energy transaction actions are allowed for the ECs: 1) each prosumer in the EC trades energy locally to maximize the global social welfare and pay network usage fees to the distributed system operator (DSO); 2) the EC trades energy with the DSO to sell their exceed energy or purchase energy to meet their load demand. The payment among the ECs is subject to a clearing price. In the market, the Newton distributed algorithm has been used to achieve the equilibrium point, and the ADMS actively optimizes voltage, and reactive power (Volt-VAR) via controlling distributed energy resources (DER) and managing the iterative process. To confirm the functionality of the model, 33-bus networks have been used to model the ECs.

With the growing availability of data, learning-based distributed energy management is emerging as a viable and efficient alternative to traditional model-based schemes. In this context, we propose a novel game-theoretic learning-based method for the distributed control of energy communities. In particular, we consider a community that includes several prosumers equipped with a renewable energy source and an energy storage system. The scheduling of energy activities of all prosumers is formulated as a noncooperative game. Nevertheless, unlike the state-of-the-art, where an optimization problem is typically defined to model the behavior of each prosumer, we approximate each prosumer response strategy using a neural network. We propose a distributed algorithm based on the well-known Banach-Picard iteration to efficiently seek for an equilibrium of the game. Lastly, the convergence and effectiveness of the proposed approach are validated through numerical simulations under different realistic scenarios.

The growing adoption of distributed energy resources (DERs) has sparked greater research attention towards multi-energy cluster control stations. Although previous research highlights the substantial grid flexibility and economic advantages associated with multi-energy cluster control stations, there remains a notable gap in adequately addressing the integration of security constraints within multi-energy cluster control stations. This paper introduces a market-based control mechanism in market, aiming to effectively manage multi-energy cluster control stations in an economically viable manner while safeguarding the security of system operations. Given the dynamic behaviors of batteries and responsive demands, this study employs a model predictive control (MPC) technique to manage constraints across various time intervals and integrate predictions for both generation and consumption activities. To mitigate computational challenges and address concerns regarding individual privacy, we have devised an effective distributed algorithm tailored for solving the optimal power flow (OPF) problem. In simpler terms, we're adding extra factors to help us understand how different consumers who also produce power affect each other through the power grid. This helps us figure out prices for electricity in specific locations, considering factors like how much energy is being used, how congested the grid is, and any power loss along the way. We've tested this approach using a standard power system model, and our results show that it works effectively and efficiently.

Communication channel failures are a major concern for the developers of modern fault-tolerant systems. However, while tight bounds for process failures are well-established, extending them to include channel failures has remained an open problem. We introduce generalized quorum systems -- a framework that characterizes the necessary and sufficient conditions for implementing atomic registers, atomic snapshots, lattice agreement and consensus under arbitrary patterns of process-channel failures. Generalized quorum systems relax the connectivity constraints of classical quorum systems: instead of requiring bidirectional reachability for every pair of write and read quorums, they only require some write quorum to be unidirectionally reachable from some read quorum. This weak connectivity makes implementing registers particularly challenging, because it precludes the traditional request/response pattern of quorum access, making classical solutions like ABD inapplicable. To address this, we introduce novel logical clocks that allow write and read quorums to reliably track state updates without relying on bidirectional connectivity.

In this paper, we introduce the LWCoopPG (Learned Weighting Cooperative Projected Gradient Descent) algorithm for fully distributed MIMO signal detection. The proposed algorithm is a fully distributed algorithm, implementing the projected gradient method over a network, and incorporating a trainable step size and trainable weight parameters, which are tuned by deep unfolding. The computations of the proposed algorithm are fully distributed, eliminating the need for a central processor. Numerical experiments affirmed the superiority of the LWCoopPG algorithm over the conventional MMSE algorithm in terms of detection performance.

Binary information trees are key visualization and evaluation tools, particularly during the passing of algorithms and synthesizing designs. This paper is an interactive tool for producing binary information trees over time. This tool will allow the user to input variables, selected, truncating and then show the same as a binary tree. Using Network X and Matplotlib for graphing, this presents the user with an interactive pie chart to enable operator control and variable assignment. Dynamic information evaluation and substitution is supported; this allows for an immediate view of change when variables and functions are altered. It is aimed at user interaction with a didactic value, and with this in mind, it contributes to easier understanding of the fundamental issues of distributed algorithms, clustering, and information evaluation. Though derived from such existing tools as VMEXT and PAVT, it offers a simple, and thus very practical approach, becoming suitable for educational environments where a visualization shows better understanding of the abstract computer concepts.

In this paper, we address the average consensus problem of multi-agent systems for possibly unbalanced and delay-prone networks with directional information flow. We propose a linear distributed algorithm (referred to as RP-PAC) that handles asynchronous updates and time-varying heterogeneous information delays. Our proposed distributed algorithm utilizes a surplus-consensus mechanism and information regarding the number of incoming and outgoing links to guarantee state averaging, despite the imbalanced and delayed information flow in directional networks. The convergence of the RPPAC algorithm is examined using key properties of the backward product of time-varying matrices that correspond to different snapshots of the directional augmented network.
