Radome performance (transmission loss and boresight error) is evaluated by means of a computer code the input data of which are the geometry (radome shape, layered structure configuration, and antenna/radome relative position) and the antenna aperture magnetic current distribution. The latter is measured directly, thus avoiding the difficulty of characterizing the antenna under test. The spherical near field (SNF) measuring technique is applied. A radome has been designed using this approach and then manufactured and tested by means of a compact range. The comparison between experimental and theoretical results is quite good.< >

Improvement factors in hazard rate and age for a sequential preventative maintenance (PM) policy are introduced. Two imperfect PM models are analyzed: (1) PM reduces the hazard rate while it increases with the number of PMs, and (2) PM reduces the age. The PM is done at intervals x/sub k/ (k=1,2, . . . , N) and is imperfect. The optimal policies to minimize the mean cost rates are discussed. We present a Boundary Integral Method (BIM) for the computation of the current distribution in an antenna with negligible skin depth, the unknown quantities being the overall current intensity and the scalar magnetic potential on the boundary. After computing these quantities, the current density distribution can be deduced and the resistance as well as the inductance of the antenna evaluated. The results are compared with experimental values.

A computationally efficient method is presented for calculating field pressure distributions from a circular phased array transducer. This method employs a form of the rectangular radiator approach modified for use with the geometry of a circular array. The validity of this approach is verified through comparisons with experimental data from a circular phased array. The results show that the location and amplitude of the grating lobes and main lobe width can be predicted with reasonable accuracy using this method.

In this paper we apply a modern signal processing approach for the determination of the Rabi frequency value and some frequency shifts in a Cs beam standard. The Rabi frequency is computed by two new methods from a single experimental Ramsey pattern. These methods are based on the derivative and the cepstrum properties of the Ramsey fringes, Then we show how some integrals over the time of flight distribution can be computed from a Ramsey record without the knowledge of the time of Right distribution, As an example the second order Doppler and the phase shift are computed directly from one Ramsey pattern.
