The method of evaluating the effectiveness of the economic parameters for the implementation at industrial enterprises of "Peer-to-Peer distributed Storage and Processing of Protected Information in Corporate Networks," designed primarily to protect distributed computing and isolate private networks without limiting the possibilities of useful interaction in the framework of the technologies Industry 5.0 and Super Smart Society is proposed. Within the framework of these concepts, there is a gradual integration of production, logistics, sales, and information systems into a global information exchange system. The proposed system provides for effective counteraction to the threats using cryptography, protection against unauthorized access using biometrics, and an innovative protocol for information interaction and control of topology based on distributed ledger technologies, it optimizes the use of computing power and provides tools for distributed computing without changing the logic of existing software.

Fault tolerance in partitioned manufacturing networks

Fault tolerance is especially important for computer systems that require a high degree of confidence. Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) is an area where computer systems must not be disturbed by uncontrolled failures. This article deals with two problems that are related to fault tolerance and network partitions in automated manufacturing systems. The first problem relates to the distribution of information in partitioned data networks in CIM systems. We indicate how to overcome this problem by using the material network as a redundant data network: The second problem relates to fault detection and diagnosis in manufacturing systems. The problem is whether the indication of a fault means that a production unit itself has actually broken down, or that the indication is instead due to disturbances in the transmission of material. That is, the production unit continues to operate propcrly despite indications to the contrary. We describe how the material network can be used for detection and diagnosis. © 1993 Kluwer Academic Publishers.

The paper presents an analysis of the use of optimization algorithms in parallel solutions and distributed computing systems. The primary goal is to use evolutionary algorithms and their implementation into parallel calculations. Parallelization of computational algorithms is suitable for the following cases computational models with a large number of design variables or cases where the objective function evaluation is time consuming (FE analysis). As the software platform for application of distributed optimization algorithms is using MATLAB and BOINC software package.

This article presents results of experiments, which were carried out to discover the impact of memory effect on computing time. A series of runs were conducted to execute sequential and parallel algorithm of solving system of linear equations (SLE) with the steepest-descent method. The quantitative evaluation of parallel algorithm realization exponents in different ranks SLE solving is given. Dependences and factors, which have impact on computing time, are detected. Parallel computing was implemented in the distributed computing system with programmable structure of Novosibirsk State Technical University at Computer Engineering Department

Although the principles of real-time collaborative editing have been explored since the eighties, team collaboration software facilitating the completion of tasks as a group continues to be a very hot research topic. A series of theoretical and practical results obtained by the research and industrial communities originated in the theory of distributed computing. They were devised for managing the concurrent nature of user actions and for maintaining the consistency of data as changes are introduced randomly, by multiple users and in real-time. As such, centralized collaborative editing servers were designed to allow users to work in parallel on a document from a typical web browser. In order to maintain the consistency of the content being modified at different sites in different orders, Operational Transformation (OT) mechanisms are at the core of collaboration servers enabling web-based co-editing. However, as expected of modern web application deployments, a centralized OT algorithm is required that must also exhibit properties such as scalability and reliability. In this paper, the processes involved in the client-server interactions of OT are modeled as real-time systems using Finite State Machine (FSM) theory. The consistency of the data is controlled by formal groups of FSMs. Hierarchical FSMs are used to define and simulate the real-time behavior of client and server components when processing and transforming changes initiated by users. The FSM-based OT implementation is tested using random inputs and the approach is shown to be helpful for organizing and managing the complex distributed aspects of such algorithms.

Modern distribution system are expected to provide new features such as taking advantage of Cyber-Physical systems (CPS) - new equipment and devices embedded with sensors, network communication, and computational intelligence techniques to provide increased system performance and power quality. Among the performance improvement, the reduction of electrical losses is an important quality factor which is associated with energy efficiency. This paper presents a method based on Multi-agent systems (MAS) that manages topology changes by switching operations to improve the system performance in dynamic scenario, where the power demand varies throughout the day. Experiments were performed allocating three different load consumer profiles (residential, commercial, and industrial) in two test systems with 12-bus and 16-bus, creating several scenarios. The agents were deployed in a set of small-sized single-board computers with low computational power to mimic CPS. The simulations has shown the success of the method on managing the decision making among different agents to provide the joint effort to manage the loss reduction on the network.

Monitoring and analyzing I/O behaviors is critical to the efficient utilization of parallel storage systems. Unfortunately, with increasing I/O requirements and resource contention, I/O performance variability is becoming a significant concern. This paper investigates I/O behavior and performance variability on a large-scale high-performance computing (I IPC) system using a novel methodology that identifies similarity across jobs from the same application leveraging an I/O characterization tool and then, detects potential I/O performance variability across jobs of the same application. We demonstrate and discuss how our unique methodology can be used to perform temporal and feature analyses to detect interesting I/O performance variability patterns in production UPC systems, and their implications for operating/managing large-scale systems.

Operational Transformation (OT) has emerged as a viable theoretical principle for the implementation of real-time collaboration applications. In such systems, the collaboration consists of operations generated by members of a group who are performing concurrent actions on the same document or content. This powerful multi-user co-editing has been researched ever since the seminal works of the late 1980s. As the web evolved into a dominant platform for content consumption and creation, classes of algorithms like OT and Conflict-free Replicated Data Types (CRDT) have enabled flexible content synchronization for applications such as online word processors. Despite their long history in academia, OT and CRDT continue to have unsolved issues due to the centralized approach required for scalable and reliable web-based document editing. This paper proposes a Control Loop-based OT approach based on a serverless architecture and on Finite State Automata (FSA). A control loop principle is used to design a series of algorithms for distributed conflict resolution. The proposed architecture consists of a series of blocks which internally contain a number of multi-level Finite State Machines. The architecture of the new serverless approach for OT is introduced and the basic FSAs that model the co-editing processes are described. Cases encountered in the dynamics of the co-editing processes were modeled to prove that the essential OT properties of causality preservation, convergence, and intention preservation are all satisfied. Simulation results are given at the end of the paper.

distributed systems that maintain data communication through a data network always run the risk of having network partitioning. One application of a distributed system is computer integrated manufacturing (CIM), which depends on two different types of network, namely the data network and the material network. A network partitioning in CIM may lead to a stop in the production. The negative effects of network partitioning in a CIM system can be mitigated through the introduction of data and material buffers. Nevertheless, when the partition of the data network remains for a longer period of time, the usefulness of the buffers will be reduced as they eventually will be emptied or invalidated. A way to maintain the distribution of information between different data network partitions is to use the material network as an extra medium for the data transportation, as well as for the material transportation. This approach increments fault-tolerance concerning data network partitioning in CIM systems.
