DC microgrids are extensively researched because of advancements in power electronics, penetration of DC loads, and the growing demand for DC power. The DC microgrid is also broached as a multi-agent system (MAS) because of its distributed nature. In this paper, a distributed consensus controller for DC microgrids is proposed that has basically two main objects;the first object is to track the desired reference voltage for the distributed generation units while maintaining the voltage stability at the point of common coupling (PCC), whereas the second object is to distribute current proportionally among distributed loads. Furthermore, a linear distributed model is constructed in which the dynamics of the net current for the distributed generation units are established using the directed graph of power lines. Moreover, local information from neighboring agents is utilized to construct a distributed linear controller, and the consensus control problem is solved for voltage tracking and current distribution of the DC microgrid. Furthermore, the control gains for the proposed controller are optimized using closed-loop stability analysis. Finally, simulation results are illustrated for both open-loop and closed-loop systems, and the effects of the directed power line graph and the undirected communication graph are analyzed. The effects of parameter uncertainties on the performance of the proposed controller are investigated through simulations. The results show that the distributed controller efficiently solves the consensus control problem for the MAS.(c) 2023 THE AUTHORS. In this paper, we investigate the problem of leaderless consensus control for the multiagent systems with nonlinear dynamics satisfying incremental quadratic constraints. A distributed dynamic consensus protocol, decided by communication among neighboring agents, has been presented to render nonlinear agents consensus by choosing appropriate coupling weights without knowing full state information. Further, extensions to consensus strategies with nonlinear dynamics for the leader-following fashion are also addressed. In contrast to the conventional nonlinear consensus control methodologies, the proposed approach generalizes the Lipschitz condition and the combined condition of one-sided Lipschitz and quadratic inner-boundness conditions to a new generalized type of nonlinearity, which shows us a less conservative result in the Lyapunov proof. Finally, the simulation results for six agents are presented to show the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed control protocol.

distributed control is slated to be a key enabler of integrating converter-based generation at scale at the grid edge. The commonly-used consensus control for AC systems is known to be susceptible to malicious interventions that multiply communicated signals, potentially triggering voltage and frequency instability and tripping the converters. Considering a consensus control structure that ensures active and reactive power sharing as well as frequency restoration, we show that the voltage consensus loop is susceptible to such multiplicative attacks, whereas the frequency control loop is not. We then examine the various factors that influence the stability margin of the voltage consensus controller to attacks, with a view to identify behavioral trends. Ultimately, we determine the key instability mechanism to be the effect of the secondary control loop on the medium frequency poles corresponding to the network impedances, a finding which provides pathways to improve attack resilience.

In this paper, the problem of resilient distributed secure consensus control for uncertain networked agent systems under hybrid denial-of-service (DoS) attacks is investigated. The current situation is that there exists a cyber layer connecting the network control units and a physical layer with specific physical links in the networked agent systems. Both the communication networks connecting the two layers and within the cyber layer may be attacked by DoS maliciously. These two attack scenarios have different impacts on the networked system. The former focuses on updating the control inputs timely, while the latter influences the connection weight of the cyber communication topology. Firstly, a distributed security consensus framework is proposed for the case that updates of signals are destroyed by DoS attacks between two layers, in which an acknowledgment (ACK)-based attack detection and a recovery mechanism are introduced, and a self-triggered based distributed control protocol is designed. On the premise of avoiding Zeno behavior, the relationship between trigger intervals and DoS attack characteristics is revealed. Secondly, corresponding asynchronous switching topology method is developed for secure consensus of the networked systems when DoS attacks are launched within the cyber layer. In addition, we found that large signals jump during switching and triggering will generate pulses and affect system stability. Therefore, a saturation function is introduced to constrain the fluctuation range of the signal. Finally, the effectiveness of the design scheme is verified by the simulation results of multi-robot systems.

In this paper, distributed consensus control protocols are given for linear multi-agent systems with input delay under direct communication graphs. Compared with the multi-agent systems under continuous communication, there are more challenges in the consensus problems of multi-agent systems under discontinuous communication. Furthermore, the consensus of multi-agent systems with control input delay and discontinuous communication are much more similar to the practical engineering situation, which further increases the difficulties of consensus control. Based on these discussions, two consensus problems, including leader following case and leaderless case, are studied in this paper. A prediction of the system's state information over the delay time is approximated by the zero input solution of the agent system model. We also propose a new discontinuous communication mode, which combines event triggered mechanism and a uniform quantization method. Unlike the existing discontinuous communication method, our proposed control protocols ensure that each agent decides when to transport its state information to its neighbors such that continuous communication between any two agents is no longer needed. In addition, through the non-smooth analysis of the closed-loop systems, the uniformly bounded consensus results are guaranteed, and the bound of the consensus error can be adjusted by choosing appropriate parameters. In this article, the distributed consensus tracking problem is investigated for a group of heterogeneous nonlinear multiagent systems (MASs). The dynamic of each follower is subject to multiple time-varying state delays and unknown non-identical control coefficients. Most existing results for MASs with unknown non-identical control coefficients are on the condition that only the specific Nussbaum-type function can be used. This constraint is removed by employing the enhanced Nussbaum functions. Some appropriate Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals are constructed to compensate the delayed nonlinear functions. By applying the finite-time command filters to backstepping technique, a novel distributed adaptive consensus tracking control law is developed, which is independent of multiple state delays. It is proved that each follower's output can track the leader. Finally, the validness of the proposed control algorithm is illustrated by two simulation examples.

In this paper, thermostatically controlled loads (TCLs) to the provision of fast ancillary services are investigated. In a residential community, a population of TCLs in smart buildings is able to respond to fast regulation signals in a distributed way via sparse communication infrastructure. A two-layer distributed consensus protocol (TLDCP) is proposed with the optimal control gain design based on the linear quadratic regulator method. In the proposed TLDCP, the communication graph is divided into two-layer considering both the local interaction of TCLs in each building and interconnection among buildings. This method will achieve fast, dynamic and distributed power regulation with fair power and comfort sharing among all participate TCLs. With different supervisory control (e.g. fluctuation mitigation and frequency regulation), the TLDCP controlled TCLs can provide various grid ancillary services. The case studies validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Testing, Adjusting and Balancing (TAB procedure) is an important issue of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. This paper proposes an adaptive distributed consensus control-based air balancing (ADCC-AB) method for the HVAC systems, which aims to achieve air balancing via neighboring communication and parameter self-tuning. Comparing with the traditional air balancing methods, the proposed ADCC-AB method has the following advantages. 1.) This method only need to communicate with neighboring terminals, thus eliminating the necessity of a centralized control unit. 2.) It is mode-free method that requires no system topology and parameters and is therefore easy to apply. 3.) The proposed method can automatically adjust the control parameters to achieve system stability. The simulation results verified the performances of the proposed method.

This paper investigates the leaderless consensus problem in the presence of unknown control directions and position constraints under directed graph. Based on the Nussbaum-gain technique and Barrier Lyapunov functions, the position-constrained consensus protocol is proposed for the multi-agent systems with unknown control directions. The proposed protocol ensures that all the signals in the closed-loop system are globally bounded and the consensus errors asymptotically converge to zero. Moreover, during the process of consensus, the trajectory of the position state of each agent is contained in the open interval which can be chosen arbitrarily in advance. A simulation example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control protocol. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
