This paper describes the implementation of the first portable, embedded data acquisition unit (BabelFuse) that is able to acquire and timestamp generic sensor data and trigger General Purpose I/O (GPIO) events against a microsecond-accurate wirelessly-distributed 'global' clock. A significant issue encountered when fusing data received from multiple sensors is the accuracy of the timestamp associated with each piece of data. This is particularly important in applications such as Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping (SLAM) where vehicle velocity forms an important part of the mapping algorithms;on fast-moving vehicles, even millisecond inconsistencies in data timestamping can produce errors which need to be compensated for. The timestamping problem is compounded in a robot swarm environment especially if non-deterministic communication hardware (such as IEEE-802.11-based wireless) and inaccurate clock synchronisation protocols are used. The issue of differing timebases makes correlation of data difficult and prevents the units from reliably performing synchronised operations or manoeuvres. By utilising hardware-assisted timestamping, clock synchronisation protocols based on industry standards and firmware designed to minimise indeterminism, an embedded data acquisition unit capable of microsecond-level clock synchronisation is presented.

Remote Control for the HT-7 distributed data acquisition System

HT-7 is the first superconducting tokamak device for fusion research in China. Many experiments have been done in the machine since 1994, and lots of satisfactory results have been achieved in the fusion research field on HT-7 tokamak [1]. With the development of fusion research, remote control of experiment becomes more and more important to improve experimental efficiency and expand research results. This paper will describe a RCS (Remote Control System), the combined model of Browser/Server and Client/Server, based on Internet of HT-7 distributed data acquisition system (HT7DAS). By means of RCS, authorized users all over the world can control and configure HT7DAS remotely. The RCS is designed to improve the flexibility, opening, reliability and efficiency of HT7DAS. In the paper, the whole process of design along with implementation of the system and some key items are discussed in detail. The System has been successfully operated during HT-7 experiment in 2002 campaign period.

A distributed, analogue/digital data acquisition controller implementing the unique programmable counter array (PCA) available on the 80C51FA microcontroller together with its automatic address recognition as a low level communication protocol has been developed. Emphasis is placed on the design of a more flexible distributed controller which is capable of simultaneously handling up to 16 channels of analogue and 16 channels of digital I/O using versions of the industry standard I/O modules. Each individual channel can be independently configured as either input or output. These controllers can be linked together in a multidrop network configuration with a PC as the primary controller. An increase in product functionality at a lower cost is thereby achieved.

Appropriate monitoring technology for energy storage system plays an important role in electric vehicles. A distributed data acquisition system was developed. The system which communicates with host unit via CAN-bus is composed of 36 data acquisition units which monitoring cells parameters. The distributed topology could effectively improve the speed of data acquisition. A calibration algorithm for current sensor was developed to increase the estimation precision of SOC. The monitoring system was implemented in a super-capacitor pure electric urban bus. Experimental results demonstrated that the distributed data acquisition system performs well in monitoring the system and cell voltage, current and temperature.

This paper describes an architecture for distributed control of a sensors network through Internet. The architecture is based on a multiple layer structure that allows scalability when a large number of sensors Is planned. Accounting and access policies are also addressed. Since standard web interfaces are adopted, the architecture allows an easy Integration with already available products to be obtained. A practical case-study is also presented it,here sites in different cities cooperate for data retrieval from different sensors.

A distributed high-speed data acquisition and monitoring system for the RF negative ion source at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) is developed, which consists of data acquisition, data forwarding and data processing. Firstly, the data acquisition modules sample physical signals at high speed and upload the sampling data with corresponding absolute-time labels over UDP, which builds the time correlation among different signals. And a special data packet format is proposed for the data upload, which is convenient for packing or parsing a fixed-length packet, especially when the span of the time labels in a packet crosses an absolute second. The data forwarding modules then receive the UDP messages and distribute their data packets to the real-time display module and the data storage modules by PUB/SUB-pattern message queue of ZeroMQ. As for the data storage, a scheme combining the file server and MySQL database is adopted to increase the storage rate and facilitate the data query. The test results show that the loss rate of the data packets is within the range of 0-5% and the storage rate is higher than 20 Mbps, both acceptable for the HUST RF negative ion source.(c) 2022 Korean Nuclear Society, Published by Elsevier Korea LLC. Design and Experiment of Multi-information Collection System for Grain Combine Harvesters

To obtain the online multi-information of the machine performance, working condition and other parameters for gain combine harvester, a controller area network (CAN bus) based distributed data collection, transmission and processing system was constructed and tested. In this system a series of sensors was designed or optimized, such as attitude sensors for sensing the rise and fall of header, torque sensors and revolution speed sensors for measuring the power output, torque and rotational speed, GPS module for detecting operating speed and location. And with ARM embedded processor, a universal information acquisition node was designed based on CAN bus to collect and process the datas from system-wide sensors. Furthermore, with CAN network, 3G networks and RS232-based telematics data exchange gateway, the telematics data exchange gateway was built for asynchronous communication with CAN bus node, telematics monitor, and remote database server. In addition, a order-driven synchronous data acquisition strategy was prosposed for the purpose of improving the synchronicity of combine harvester multi-information for a period of time. This system was proved to be stable, reliable, strong anti-interference and realized the object of synchronous acquisition of machine performance, working condition, power consumption and other information, and transmission frequency can reach 5KHz under 10 nodes and frame loss rate (FLR) was lower than 1%. The use of this system will be an effective support for multi-information collection of gain combine harvester. © 2018

The keystone of many applications associated to the vision of the Internet of Things is a distributed measurement and data acquisition system. Its design represents a major challenge, because it must enable concurrent measurement of different signals, with heterogeneous sensors and communication protocols. It must also be secure and scalable (in the sense of low marginal cost of adding new features and sensors). We propose the architecture of such a system and demonstrate two different use cases: a distributed system for electric power metering, and a wearable ECG monitoring system for multiple patients. We show that our proposed solution is flexible in terms of measured quantities, and can easily adapt to different data rates. In addition, it allows us to reach record performance in terms of energy consumption per effective number of quantization levels, as we demonstrate in the case of ECG sensors.

To satisfy the electric steering engine comprehensive performance testing requirements under the network platform, we design and implement an experimental system, with comprehensive analysis functions, to test steering engine performance. The system hardware consists of electric steering engine, interface card with network function, networkable programmable DC power supply, encoders, routers, computers, a printer , webcamera and other components. Test software functionality is to get steering engine static and dynamic parameters tested under different IP domain segments the network while achieving the function of the DC power supply parameters of remote settings under different segments of the IP domain, at the same time, the experimental data to achieve a cloud database storage, and real-time sharing, wireless remote video monitoring of test site. And the experimental data can be stored for automatic data analysis and also enables automatic printing of experimental data reports. Features of the steering engine test system is IOT technology, steering engine testing technology, engineering database technology and virtual instrument technology are applied to achieve the integration of systems technology. Things in this experiment, we have static and dynamic steering engine parameters were tested and validated. Experimental results show that the experimental system has achieved a comprehensive test steering engine parameters and test data have been automated analysis system functions. The system has reached the desired functional design requirements.
