This paper investigates the use of adaptive filtering with selective updating in a distributed spectrum sensing network. Through a structure similar to a set-membership filter, coefficient updating is not performed at every single input data, reducing misadjustment, computational complexity and power requirements at each sensing node. Results, presented in terms of convergence behavior and complementary receiver operating characteristic curves, show a substantial reduction in the number of updates performed by the adaptive filter without degrading the detection performance.

In this paper we have analyzed the distributed node clone detection techniques in wireless sensor networks. Although there are many protocols in literature proposed for node clone detection, but we have discussed some efficient protocol like LSM and RED under the category of witness based node clone detection. We have analyzed the detection level, memory, and energy overhead of LSM, RED and proposed protocol. We have presented an approach for the optimization of witness based distributed node clone detection. For the validation of proposed protocol performance, we have provided mathematical as well as simulation results for the various parameters of the WSN.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is envisioned to be a large-scale system that interconnects sensors, mundane objects, and other physical devices via an effective communication infrastructure. Given the heterogeneous and large-scale nature of the IoT, security has emerged as a key challenge. This challenge is further exacerbated by the fact that security solutions for the IoT must account for the limited computational capabilities of the IoT's nodes. That makes enhancing the security at the physical layer level an attractive solution for IoT networks. In this paper, a novel anti-jamming mechanism is proposed to enable a fusion center to defend the IoT from a malicious radio jamming attack. The problem is formulated as a Colonel Blotto game in which the fusion center, acting as defender, aims to detect the jamming attack by increasing the number of bits allocated to certain nodes for reporting their measured interference level, while the jammer aims to disturb the network performance and still be undetected. To solve this game, an algorithm based on fictitious play is proposed to reach the equilibrium of the game. Simulation results show that the proposed mechanism outperforms the mechanism of allocating the available bits in a random manner for two different cases of network architecture.

Online detection of gas concentrations is important research topic recently. Based on the analysis of near infrared spectral absorption of acetylene, ammonia and carbon monoxide, a system using absorption type optic fiber for high sensitivity distributed detection of gases with wideband light source is demonstrated. Light source modulation harmonic measurement is presented in this paper. Wavelength modulation is realized by three modulated reflective fiber Bragg gratings and piezoelectric ceramics to obtain different narrowband output light. The three center wavelengths of fiber Bragg gratings' narrowband spectra are adapt to the absorption lines of acetylene, ammonia and carbon monoxide and in the region of the optical fiber' low-loss windows. The light is introduced by optic fiber to different gas cells with different gases for distributed detection. The high sensitivity detection of gases can be measured from the second harmonic signal. Each ratio of second harmonic signal and transmission signal is used to eliminate the disturbance of light source. Sensitivity is proved and cost is reduced. Visual instrument software Labview is used for programming.

Human behavior while decision making is quite complex and uncertain. There are fundamental differences between traditional decision making systems based on sensor data and systems where the agents in the decision making process include humans. The modeling and analysis of human-machine collaborative decision making has become an important research area due to the potential applications in a variety of complex autonomous systems. Incorporating human inputs with physical sensors can be advantageous in enhancing situational assessment for certain situations, and at the same time, brings in technical challenges such as how to characterize the human decision making behavior. In this paper, we discuss some aspects of human-machine networks by focusing on three schemes that include collaborative human decision making with random local thresholds, decision fusion in integrated human-machine networks and binary decision making under cognitive biases. In each case, we aim to optimize the system performance based on appropriate modeling of the human behavior. We also provide a summary of current challenges and research directions related to this problem domain.

MVI-CFAR detector has a strong adaptive characteristic in both homogeneous and inhomogeneous distributed background, which tackles the problem of degraded VI-CFAR detection performance when interference targets appear in both leading and lagging sliding windows. This paper focuses on target detection using ultra-band radar and presents a two dimensional distributed MVI-CFAR detector by exploiting target environment information contained in Range-Doppler matrix and combining detection advantages of MVI-CFAR as well. By conducting MVI-CFAR detection of the same target detection unit in both Range dimension and Doppler dimension and then fusion decision of two dimensional detection result under the guidance of the principle of distribution, target detection under the condition of complex clutter background/multi-target is realized. By Monte Carlo simulation, this paper analyzes the detection performance of this algorithm in both homogeneous and inhomogeneous background and verifies the effectiveness of it.

Under the Bayesian without Recall (BWR) model of inference, the agents behave rationally with respect to their most recent observations and yet they do not recall their history of past observations and cannot reason about how other agents are making their decisions. This model avoids the complexities of fully rational inference and also provides a behavioral foundation for non-Bayesian updating. We present the implications of the choice of signal and action space and utility structures for such agents, leading us to familiar update forms including the linear updates and the DeGroot model. We show that for a wide class of distributions from the exponential family with their conjugate priors, the BWR action updates take the form of a linear update in the self and neighboring actions. Furthermore, if the agents begin with noninformative priors then these action updates take the form of a convex combination as in the DeGroot model: agents who start from noninformative priors follow the DeGroot update and reach a consensus.

A new cooperation detection method is presented to improve the detection performance of the spacebased Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) system, which adopts the parallel distributed detection algorithm to process the information acquired by several SARs in one constellation observing the same target area from different angles at the same time. Based on the research of the spacebased SAR system and the distributed detection theory, the Spacebased SAR Cooperation detection (SSARCD) model is established, which determines the relationship between the detection performance and the parameters of the orbit, the platform and the SAR system. Simulation results prove that the detection performance of the SSARCD system is better than that of the individual spacebased SAR system.

We consider several estimation and learning problems that networked agents face when making decisions given their uncertainty about an unknown variable. Our methods are designed to efficiently deal with heterogeneity in both size and quality of the observed data, as well as heterogeneity over time (intermittence). The goal of the studied aggregation schemes is to efficiently combine the observed data that is spread over time and across several network nodes, accounting for all the network heterogeneities. Moreover, we require no form of coordination beyond the local neighborhood of every network agent or sensor node. The three problems that we consider are (i) maximum likelihood estimation of the unknown given initial data sets, (ii) learning the true model parameter from streams of data that the agents receive intermittently over time, and (iii) minimum variance estimation of a complete sufficient statistic from several data points that the networked agents collect over time. In each case, we rely on an aggregation scheme to combine the observations of all agents;moreover, when the agents receive streams of data over time, we modify the update rules to accommodate the most recent observations. In every case, we demonstrate the efficiency of our algorithms by proving convergence to the globally efficient estimators given the observations of all agents. We supplement these results by investigating the rate of convergence and providing finite-time performance guarantees.

In practical mutisensor system, the signal-to-clutter ratio of the returns of the same target at different sensors may be unknown and variant, which leads to the nonexistence of the uniformly most powerful test. By investigating the demonstration of the nonexistence, it was found that the canonical detector based on the likelihood ratio test can not possess robust performance of detection. Therefore, a structure of robust detector was proposed that synthesize the results of several canonical detectors to form a robust one. Finally, an example was given to illustrate the effectiveness of the structure.
