This paper investigates the dynamic average consensus problem for networked Euler-Lagrange (EL) systems with undirected communication graph topology. Based on the price of communication and the existing condition under discrete-time communication, a novel distributed event-triggered controller is proposed to enable multiple EL agents to track the dynamic average of multiple time-varying reference signals. The feasibility of the proposed controller is further verified to eliminate Zeno behavior. Numerical examples illustrate the results.

In this paper, the prescribed finite-time consensus problem of linear multi-agent systems (MASs) is considered based on distributed event-triggered control strategies. It has been presented in the literatures that the prescribed finite time is independent of initial conditions or any other parameters, and can be pre-specified by the designer. Different from the existing prescribed finite-time consensus control rules that are based on continuous communication between agents and their neighbors, the proposed control laws in this paper are built on event-triggered mechanism. Furthermore, because the control schemes involve a time-varying scaling function, the Zeno behavior is hard to be excluded by the traditional approaches. To solve this problem, a dynamical event-triggered controller concerning time-varying variables to agents is proposed. Numerical simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of theoretical results.

This paper studies the consensus problem of multi-agent systems with general linear dynamics under a undirected graph. By using the event-triggered control and functional observer output feedback control techniques, a distributed event-triggered control strategy is proposed via functional observer-based output feedback. It is shown that the consensus of the controlled multi-agent system can be achieved asymptotically. The feasibility of the proposed control scheme is further verified by excluding Zeno behavior for each agent. An example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

Microgrid is a complex cyber-physical system with interacted power and communication networks. Conventionally, the secondary control of microgrids relies on a central controller and periodic communications, which may limit the efficiency and resilience of the cyber systems. In this paper, a distributed event-triggered secondary control scheme is proposed for efficient communication in islanded microgrids. The proposed control scheme only takes effect is hen there are microgrid states change 'events' (e.g load changes and communication failures). The secondary control including frequency/voltage regulation and accurate real/reactis e power sharing are decoupled into two timescales. The triggering conditions for only power sharing control in slower timescale are defined to avoid overlap. The proposed method only requires communications among neighbour controllers at the event-triggered time, which dramatically reduces the communication burden in the cyber system. A cyberphysical microgrid platthrm has been built with the microgrids in OPAL-RT and communications in Raspberry Pis. The proposed secondary controller has been implemented on this platform and the hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) experiment results demonstrate the performance of our controller design.

This paper is concerned with the stability of the vehicular platoon consisting of a leader and multiple cooperative autonomous driving followers. The objective of the platoon control is to ensure all vehicles traveling at the same speed while maintaining a safety spacing. To achieve the objective, a novel control framework consisting of the distributed adaptive event-triggered observer and the car-following control protocol is proposed for the vehicular platoon control. The condition that only few following vehicles can access the information of the leader is considered. In order to design controllers while avoid using any global information, such as the system matrix and the state of the leader, a distributed event-triggered observer is proposed, such that each vehicle can observe the dynamics of the leader. Based on this observer, both collision avoidance and limited communication source of each vehicle are simultaneously considered in the design of the observer. It is shown that under the proposed control framework, the platoon can achieve asymptotical stable, meanwhile, the amount of transmission data and communication cost among vehicles can be reduced. Finally, numerical simulations are presented to show the applicability of the obtained results.

This paper studies synchronization of dynamical networks with event-based communication. Firstly, two estimators are introduced into each node, one to estimate its own state, and the other to estimate the average state of its neighbours. Then, with these two estimators, a distributed event-triggering rule (ETR) with a dwell time is designed such that the network achieves synchronization asymptotically with no Zeno behaviours. The designed ETR only depends on the information that each node can obtain, and thus can be implemented in a decentralized way. (C) 2017 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

A microgrid (MG) is a cyber-physical system with coupled power and communication networks. The centralized secondary control of MGs with periodical communications restricts system efficiency and resilience. This article proposes a distributed event-triggered secondary control scheme in islanded MGs with its cyber-physical implementation. The proposed control scheme operates with the reduced frequency of communications depending on the MG states change "events" (e.g., load variations and communication failures). Besides, the secondary control objectives, including frequency/voltage regulation and accurate real/reactive power sharing, are decoupled into two timescales. Instead of designing event-triggering conditions (ETCs) for each secondary control functions, only ETCs for power sharing control in slower timescale are designed. Thus, the communication burden is significantly reduced since communications among neighbor controllers are only needed at the event-triggered time. The proposed controller has been tested on a hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) platform, where the physical system is modeled in the OPAL-RT and the cyber system is realized in Raspberry Pis. The control effectiveness is validated by the HIL results.
