Secure interval estimations for time-varying delay interconnected systems using novel distributed functional observers

In this article, we consider the problem of designing distributed functional observers for time-varying delay interconnected systems under stealthy attacks. distributed reduced-order observers are first designed to construct bounds for the attack signals. Then, the obtained bounds of the attack signals are utilized to design novel distributed functional observers, which provide interval estimations for linear functions of the state vectors of subsystems when the time-varying delay interconnected system is under stealthy attacks. Existence conditions of the distributed reduced-order observers as well as distributed functional state observers are established, and an effective algorithm for computing unknown observer matrices is provided. A numerical example is used to confirm the effectiveness and advantages of the obtained results.

Our main purpose in this paper is to design distributed functional observers for a class of fractional-order time-varying interconnected time-delay systems. The contributions of this paper conclude three aspects. First, we propose novel functional observers for subsystems of the fractional-order time-varying interconnected time-delay systems. The designed distributed functional observers in this paper work for a wider class of interconnected time-delay systems in the sense that when some existing design methods cannot be applied to estimate linear functions of the state vector, the distributed functional observers in this paper can still estimate linear functions of the original state vector. Then, we establish existence conditions for the proposed functional observers. Finally, we provide effective algorithms for computing unknown observer matrices.

This paper proposes a partially distributed functional observer scheme for a class of interconnected linear systems with very strong non-instantaneous subsystems interaction and with time delays in the local states and in the transmission of output information from the remote subsystems. A set of easily verifiable existence conditions is established and upon its satisfaction, simple distributed observers are designed using a straightforward design procedure. Simulation results of a numerical example are given to substantiate the feasibility of the approach.
