Asynchronous remote event notification using a distributed object model for heterogeneous remote monitoring systems and control systems at the 1.8-GeV Tohoku Synchrotron Radiation Source

An asynchronous remote event notification (AREN) for heterogeneous remote monitoring systems and distributed control systems has been developed using a distributed object model, Java remote method invocation (RMI), for the 1.8-GeV synchrotron radiation source at the Tohoku Synchrotron Radiation Facility (TSRF), which will have fifty beamlines for soft X-ray researches. The beamlines are controlled by distributed control systems composed of fifty outlying node computers and eleven remote monitoring systems connected to a network. There are more than three thousand event status signal data available from the beamlines. The event status signal data are transition status signals generated at any instance by valves/shutters, driving units, and safety interlocks when closing/opening. To acquire such event signal data, the monitoring system had to make continuous synchronous inquiries (CSI) or performed polling for an outlying node over the network. However, the monitoring system must synchronously wait each time until the outlying node transmits event status data back to the monitoring system, causing an unacceptable low event rate of approximately 40 events/second and heavy CPU load. On detecting a transitional change in an event status signal of a component, AREN automatically sends event status signal data to the monitoring systems over the network. Performance measurements proved that AREN increased the maximum event rate by one order of magnitude compared with that of CSI. By using AREN, the monitoring systems are capable of predicting signs that suggest malfunctioning of a beamline component at TSRF. The design and performance of AREN for monitoring systems and control systems for the synchrotron radiation source are described in this paper.

Supporting parallel computing on a distributed object architecture

The availability of high-speed networks and increasingly powerful commodity microprocessors is making the usage of clusters, or networks, of computers an appealing platform for cost effective parallel computing. However, the ease of developing efficient highperformance parallel software to exploit these platforms presents a major challenge. Advances in distributed object software technology have made the management of distributed computing resources easier than before. This also brings many benefits for parallel computing. Firstly, distributed object technology facilitates the encapsulating of parallel computing resources into a uniform model despite their differences in implementations that are based on different languages executing on different platforms. Secondly, mature object-oriented analysis, design method, as well as component idea embodied in distributed object technology can enhance the reusability of parallel software. To support parallel computing in a distributed object-based computing platform, a uniform high performance distributed object architecture layer is necessary. In this paper, we propose a distributed object-based framework called DoHPC to support parallel computing on distributed object architectures. We present the use of dependence analysis technique to exploit intra-object parallelism and an interoperability model for supporting distributed parallel objects. Experimental results on a Fujitsu AP3000 workstation cluster consisting of a cluster of 32 UltraSPARC workstations show that the implementation of inter-object parallelism on a workstation cluster environment is efficient. With intra-object parallel computation speedup efficiency is greater than 90% and with overhead of less than 10% for large problem, and the interoperability model improves speedup by 20%. As an distributed and parallel processing mechanism, multi-agent systems offer a novel approach to handle complex tasks of intelligent manufacturing system (IMS). Considering there are some common properties between agents and objects, the object-oriented method is used to constructed the operational model for agent-based in this paper. Notions and methods of object-oriented model designing for MAS is proposed. Besides, the object-oriented system implementation technique for agent-based IMS is discussed at the end.

In this paper we consider the question of synthesis a control system for temperature distributed object. According to the experimental data, the parameters of conditional centered contours describing the behaviour of the object on the control action for different points in space. Different control systems using information on the output parameter values at several points in space. It implemented a comparison of different control systems that have information about the temperature in nine (all to be measured), three (one-third) and one (min) measurement points. For comparison systems we used the criterion of the generalized errors.

This paper describes IKE 2, which is distributed object computing middleware that supports the creation of interoperable real-time distributed applications. These applications appear in many domains, such as telecom, aerospace, military testing and training ranges, and financial services. IKE 2 combines the concepts of CORBA distributed objects and anonymous publish-subscribe data dissemination to provide a programming abstraction known as a stateful distributed object (SDO). Every SDO can have both a remote method interface and publication state. The remote method interface allows client applications to invoke methods on target objects efficiently without concern for their location, programming language, OS platform, communication protocols and interconnects, or hardware. The publication state of a given SDO is disseminated to applications that have expressed their interest by subscribing to certain characteristics, such as the type of the SDO. Subscribers can read the publication state of an SDO as if it were a local object. The SDOs provided by the IKE 2 metaobject model support inheritance from other SDOs, containment of other SDOs, and references to other SDOs. IKE 2 is implemented in C++. The API relies heavily on compile-time type-safety to help ensure reliable behavior at run-time-a critical feature of any real-time system. Automatic code generation is used to provide the high-level abstractions without unduly burdening application programmers.

Algorithm permits to determine the ability to replace the two-point distributed object model, also to calculate the parameters of the model: position of model emitters, the signal power received on its transducers and the autocorrelation and cross-correlation functions of quadrature components of the signals that operating emitters.

Devices in ubiquitous computing environments are usually embedded, wearable, and handheld, have resource constraints, and are all connected to each other through wireless connections and other computers possibly through fixed network infrastructures, such as the Internet. These devices may form numerous webs of short-range and often low-power mobile ad hoc networks to exchange information. distributed object computing (DOC) middleware technologies have been successful in promoting high quality and reusable distributed software for enterprise-oriented environments. In order to reap the same benefit in ubiquitous computing environments, it is important to note that the natural interactions among distributed objects in ubiquitous computing environments are quite different due to various factors, such as bandwidth constraints, unpredictable device mobility, network topology change, and context-sensitivity (or situation-awareness) of application objects. Hence, the interactions among distributed objects tend to be more spontaneous and short-lived rather than predictable and long-term. In this paper, a middleware protocol, RKF, to facilitate distributed object-based application software to interact in an ad hoc fashion in ubiquitous computing environments is presented. RKF addresses both spontaneous object discovery and context-sensitive object data exchange. Our experimental results, based on RKF's implementation and evaluation inside the object request broker of our RCSM middleware test bed, indicate that it is lightweight, has good performance, and can be easily used in PDA-like devices.

Overview of OpenDIOSA implementation for distributed object executing

This paper describes the functions and implementation technology of OpenDIOSA which enables high performance and high reliability for large-scale distributed systems. The reusability which is a feature of the object-oriented technology makes it possible to follow the recent rapid progress of the IT (Information Technology) environment. OpenDIOSA has provided a parallel execution environment for distributed object based on CORBA architecture by multi-process control, and also implements the Transaction Service (context management and failure recovery control) based on CORBAservices and DIOSA specific functions.

CORBA (Common object Request Broker Architecture) is a software model, which can span different network, different machine and different operating system, achieve the manipulation among distributed objects. In view of the excellent distributed calculated performance and the trend that fused with CORBA of Java, J2EE is taken as the platform to develop research. The development environment adopted in the paper is J2441.4+Java3D+OpenLDAP. In order to centralize on research of system design problem, the paper mainly discuses some problems which the distributed object technique need to solve taking CAD drawing as examples, they are: how to translate CAD object into distributed object, how to bind distributed object to Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), how to achieve long-distance transfer (exercise external resource) and the problem of serialization. The paper analyses the technical problems which constructing integrity CAD synergic design need to solve such as CAD object conversion, applied catalogue server and transfer of long-distance external resource though a CAD drawing system based on distributed object technique. The paper presents a solution based on J2EE system, describes the main step to achieve the project and gives the key codes.

distributed object Technology employs object resource, which distributes on the website joint points, to handle data, following by the expanding applied range, the development process of distributed applied software are more and more complex. It is the software reuse that is one of the most important ways to reduce complexity of software development, as a result, much overlapping happened between distributed object and reuse technologies, moreover, distributed component concept is the consequence of the two mutual promoting and combining, this paper will discuss this problem by CORBA standard.
