This paper proposes a distributed control of the microgrid (MG) system based on the diffusion algorithm. Unlike the existing decentralized strategy that focuses on the economic operation of the MG system, the proposed strategy performs secondary frequency regulation in addition to the optimization of the MG system. The hierarchical control technique is employed in this study, where the primary layer is responsible for power control and the secondary layer is responsible for the frequency control and economic operation of the MG system. A tested MG system with four distributed generations (DGs) is considered. Three types of communication topologies are evaluated in this study, which are line, ring, and full topologies. The proposed controller is compared to the conventional consensus controller to show the effectiveness of the proposed diffusion controller. Simulation results show that the proposed diffusion strategy improves the convergence speed of the distributed control, resulting in the improvement of power responses and frequency quality of the MG system. The tested system is implemented in the MATLAB/Simulink environment to show the feasibility of the proposed diffusion controller.

A decentralized control strategy is proposed to coordinate multiple shunt active power filters (APFs) to improve power quality at the point of common coupling (PCC) in terms of power factor correction and harmonic elimination. Under the proposed control strategy, each APF uses locally measured current signals to decide the amount of power quality improvement task, which is limited to its power rating. In this way, the overall power quality improvement task is automatically distributed to the APFs without control communications. Simulation results verify the performance of the proposed control strategy.

The multi-energy synergy of electricity and natural gas distribution systems (EGDS) offers a more proactive potential for resiliency in extreme contingencies. The interests of energy systems owned by different agents are nonnegligible in resilience enhancement. Existing distributed coordinated operation models seldom consider the multiple resilience resources co-scheduling cost and the social resilience enhancement benefit allocation. Absence of an equilibrium transaction settlement rule to constrain the "reap without effort" phenomenon and the concealed quotation behavior. To address this issue, this paper presents a multi-agent distributed operation and settlement model to EGDS for enhancing resilience, and a hierarchical solution based on the cooperative game theory is developed. Specifically, the model is formulated as a two-stage optimization framework including the social resilience enhancement subproblem and the transaction settlement subproblem. The transaction settlement rule of multi-energy coupling support is characterized as the model with quotation uncertainty is solved, and the balanced operational cost of a diverse allocation strategy is given as an output of the optimization. Two test cases of different scales are used to verify the validity and applicability of the model, whose numerical results show the subject interest and social interest are both improved while protecting privacy.

With the wide application of combined heat and power (CHP) and power to heat (P2H) technology, the integrated electricity and heat system (IEHS) has been attracting great attention. The hybrid stochastic/robust optimization is combined to handle the uncertainties of IEHS, in which the stochastic optimization is concentrated on the uncertainties and spatial-temporal correlativity of load and wind power, while the robust optimization is used to deal with the market electricity price uncertainty. Considering the multi-entities characteristics of IEHS, the MINLP model of the original IEHS is decoupled to the one MILP power network and one NLP heat network based on the Bregman alternating direction method of multipliers (BADMM) and the improved quantity regulation. The simulation results show that the constructed model can effectively increase the flexibility of IEHS, and the uncertainty and spatial-temporal correlativity of IEHS can affect the system state. Furthermore, the proposed distributed model based on BADMM can not only improve the convergence effectively compared with traditional ADMM, but also realize the distributed cooperative operation of IEHS.

In order to improve the anti-submarine warfare capability, an anti-submarine UUV swarm system based on distributed operation theory is proposed. This paper describes the basic concept of the distributed operation theory and the anti-submarine operational mode of the UUV swarm, designs the system architecture, basic composition and control structure of the UUV swarm, and finally describes the operational workflow of the UUV swarm in detail. The proposed system integrates artificial intelligence technology, distributed operation concept and swarm tactics, which can effectively promote the diversification of the underwater battlefield awareness and the systematization of anti-submarine warfare so as to improve the naval cooperative anti-submarine warfare effectiveness and undersea control capability.

Parallel and distributed operation of pulsed power network with potential gradient method is confirmed with moderately large scale simulation model. The pulsed power network is already proposed for seamless integration of distributed generations. PG method brings the scalability on the network. To confirm the scalability of this power grid and autonomous clustering around the generations, computer simulations are executed.

An increasing share of uncertain distributed generations is being integrated into the ac/dc hybrid distribution network (HDN) with the partitioning characteristic. In this article, we propose a distributed optimization framework where the exchange power is regarded as coupling variables being the consensus on both sides of voltage source converters between ac and dc subnetworks. An improved alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) algorithm with the varying penalty parameter is applied to solve the proposed distributed operation problem in ac/dc HDN. In each ac or dc subnetwork, a two-stage distributionally robust optimization (DRO) model for optimal operation is formulated considering wind power uncertainties addressed by 1-norm and infinity-norm based data-driven methods. The DRO model is solved by the column and constraint generation algorithm, where the polyhedral-based linearization method is introduced to approximate the second-order cone power flow constraints with a series of linear constraints to improve the computational speed. Numerical results based on a real-world 152-bus system including three ac subnetworks and two dc subnetworks validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

A power electronic transformer (PET) can flexibly regulate the power flow of a network and facilitate the integration of distributed energy resources via AC/DC networks. With the continuous expansion of the scale of multiregional interconnection networks, the traditional centralized optimization method faces great challenges. This paper proposes a distributed convex optimal power flow (OPF) model by leveraging the hierarchical structural characteristics of PET enabled AC/DC distribution networks. An analytical target cascading method is introduced to divide the centralized OPF problem into several subproblems that can make the subnetworks operate individually and coordinate with each other. The PET flexibility is also harnessed to reduce network power loss and voltage deviation. To improve the computational efficiency and algorithm convergence, the convex relaxation and linear approximation methods are proposed. This allows us to transform the original nonconvex nonlinear problem into a successive convex programming problem, which can be easily solved by an iterative solution algorithm. Simulation results verify the feasibility and efficiency of the proposed approach.

One of key issues in the construction of a large-scale wireless sensor network (WSN) is how to securely allocate a unique address to each node in an energy-efficient manner. However, conventional network configuration mechanisms may suffer from energy inefficiency and/or addressing failure problem when applied to the construction of large-scale WSNs. In this paper, we consider the construction of a large-scale WSN by means of distributed addressing operation. We design a network configuration mechanism that allows each router to have its own addressing space for unique address allocation to its child nodes. We also design a node type selection (i.e., router or end device) algorithm that can allow the whole deployment area to be covered by using a less number of routers (i.e., lower energy consumption) than conventional ones. The proposed mechanism provides at least a neighboring router for each node, enabling to support the network connectivity in a distributed manner. Finally, the performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated by computer simulation, showing significant performance improvement over conventional schemes when applied to the construction of a large-scale WSN.
