A large down-conversion of the carrier signal is required in a millimeter-wave receiver. However, since a steep filter in the millimeter-wave band is not available, a heterodyne architecture is commonly used, which increases the power consumption of the receiver. To realize low-power consumption in a millimeter-wave receiver, low intermediate frequency conversion is suitable but requires a millimeter-wave image-rejection filter. In this study, we adopt a high-Q resonator tank enhanced by a negative conductance, using a circuit that includes a transmission line, which defines the signal propagation area of the millimeter wave. As a result, a maximum Q factor of 120, a minimum bandwidth of 0.4 GHz, a maximum gain of 20 dB and a tuning range of 1 GHz are realized with a power consumption of 12.5 mW, where the gain, Q factor and center frequency are tunable by external control. The proposed filter realizes a low intermediate frequency in a millimeter-wave receiver and is expected to contribute to the reduction of power consumption in the receiver.

Nowadays, absolute majority of circuit simulation programs contains classic Branin model of lossless transmission lines. However, characterizing the four delays (t - T D ) incorporated in the model still causes difficulties due to incompatibility with most algorithms for solving algebraic-differential equations. In the paper, a mathematical substitution of the delay is suggested which smoothly cooperates with the circuit algorithms. Moreover, results of the simulation do not contain spurious oscillations that are practically irremovable when an LC model of the line is used. As the model is suitable for RF circuits, its properties are demonstrated by means of an analysis of a microwave oscillator.

This paper presents a microcontroller controlled electromagnetic energy harvesting system suitable for harvesting energy from a single HV transmission line with current between 65 A and 130 *** system comprises of magnetic power generator, standard voltage multiplier circuit, DC-DC boost converter and microcontroller. An adaptive algorithm has been applied to the microcontroller to adjust the duty cycle of the converter to achieve maximum output power. This enables the harvesting system to convert and store low voltage sinusoidal power induce from magnetic power generator into the battery for energizing various low power applications. The implemented system is able to operate with minimum sinusoidal induced voltage as low as IV and can generate 58 mW at 65 mA line current. Furthermore, simulation and experimental result as well as mathematical analysis are also included in this paper.

Left handed transmission lines have anti-parallel phase and group velocities, unlike right handed transmission lines with positive phase and group velocities. The propagation characteristics show that backward wave propagation occurs in a Left handed transmission line. A composite Right Left Handed (CRLH) transmission line can be constructed using lumped elements or split rings. Using microstrip coupled lines also the CRLH transmission lines can be designed. This paper discusses the backward propagation characteristics of CRLH lines using two different unit cells. One unit cell comprises of lumped elements loading a pure right handed transmission line. The second unit cell comprises of coupled line all stop microstrip filter element. In both the cases the backward propagation is verified using ¿ - ß diagrams and S-parameters.

A novel dual pathway electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection device based on 0.6 mum CMOS p-well technology has been designed and fabricated according to the ISE-TCAD simulation tool and the C-R method. The new device was verified by a multi-project wafer (MPW) fabrication and tested by the transmission line pulse (TLP) generator system. The results show that new device has lower trigger voltage, smaller chip area and a higher ESD failure voltage compared with those of gate grounded NMOS (ggNMOS) protection circuits with the same MPW. The voltage up to 5 KV under human-body mode (HBM) test has been obtained.

This paper newly proposes a balanced multilayered (ML) CRLH transmission line (TL) with defected parallel plates. This TL is super-compact in size (a body of the unit-cell is only 2.0 times 2.0 times 0.67 mm 3 ) and has an ultra-wide passband from 1.8 GHz to 8.7 GHz which fractional bandwidth (FBW) corresponds to 131 % for the center frequency fc = 5.25 GHz) including a very wide left-handed (LH) region from 1.8 GHz to 6.8 GHz (116 % FBW of LH region for fc = 4.3 GHz). The well-balanced CRLH TL with quasi-LH properties is demonstrated for the first time both theoretically and experimentally. This ML architecture is quite useful for phase engineerings in the microwave devices using the phase-advanced properties in the ultra-wide LH region.

Nowadays hot-line work is a general maintenance method in most countries. The 765 kV transmission line will be maintained by live-line work for efficient operation. This paper studied about analysis of electrical safety level test in live line work at 765 kV vertical double circuit six bundle conductors transmission line.

A zero-phase-shift metamaterial lens with a concave circular face and a flat face can transform cylindrical waves into plane waves. If a sectoral shaped transmission line is connected to the concave circular lens face, and N ports are equally placed along the flat lens face, equal in-phase power division to these N ports occurs when the input port is connected the apex of the sectoral transmission line. Spatial and frequency response calculations of a 10-way power divider whose sector flare angle is 90 degrees, and spacing between the output ports is 0.26 wavelength, and operating at 1 GHz, demonstrate the feasibility of the divider.

An accurate fault classification algorithm for double end fed parallel transmission lines based on application of artificial neural networks is presented in this paper. The proposed method uses the voltage and current available at only the local end of line. This method is virtually independent of the effects of remote end infeed and is insensitive to the variation of fault inception angle and fault location. The Simulation results show that phase-to-phase faults can be correctly detected, classified and located within one cycle after the inception of fault. Large number of faults simulations using MATLAB ® 7.01 have demonstrated the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. The proposed scheme allows the protection engineers to increase the reach setting i.e. greater portion of line length can be protected as compared to conventional techniques. The technique neither requires a communication link to retrieve the remote end data nor zero sequence current compensation for healthy phases.
