This paper proposes a design methodology to achieve the signal-ground bump-patterns with the minimized simultaneous switching noise (SSN) in a ball grid array (BGA) through the bump assignment optimization. By a simplified scheme for the equivalent model, the full-transistor circuits along with the transmission lines through the chip-packaging interconnect are constructed and validated. With the Genetic Algorithm, the optimization of bump patterns can be thus determined to achieve the minimal inductive effects in the improved suppression of SSN for a large-scale BGA demonstration.

A new kind transmission line (TL) is *** TL is consisted in a hollow transverse rectangular metal cylinder loaded with a dielectric layer which partly covered with short circuit metal patch andA strip paralleled with *** propagation characteristic is numerically analyzed. Both propagation constant curves and the numerical distribution of Ey and Hz are obtained for dominating mode and first and second high order modes through a simple 2D-FDTD scheme.

With the ever-crowding spectrums in the lower microwave frequency,the need for waveguide filters incommunication systems is increasing rapidly due to their low loss and good selectivity. Yet two main factors limiting the use of such filters are their high fabrication costs and big sizes. An economical compact band-pass filter loaded with both inductive and capacitive circular posts has been proposed. The concept,CAD simulated results,and tested results from a sample filter will be presentedIn This paper. The results show that the sample filter has several advantages,such as low fabrication cost,compactness,light weight,and far away spurious pass-band.

Charged device model (CDM) electrostatic discharge (ESD) stress is a major concern for inductor-based ESD protection strategies for RF circuits processed in advanced nano-CMOS technologies. The CDM robustness of such protection methodology is investigated in this paper based on very-fast transmission line pulse (VFTLP) measurements. Its applicability is discussed for future technologies and RF applications.

This paper presents an adaptive equalizer circuit using filter switching for 5 Gb/s data communication over electrical backplane. Most of conventional equalizers are based on amplification of high frequency component of the received signal, and the performance degrades when the line is very short and the attenuation is small. The proposed one solves this issue by using two signal paths, high-pass and low-pass path, and switching them based on the received signal. It can compensate 5 Gb/s PRBS through FR4 backplane in 0 cm, 25 cm, 50 cm and 75 cm long both with and without pre-emphasis.

A. novel metamaterial transmission line based on equivalent circuit is presented that be constructed by two layer substrate. Compared to monolayer structure, the novel structure achieve lower transmission frequency, compact dimensions, and more freedom in design process. A new methodology for the design of metamaterial transmission line is proposed in this paper, and a balance non-stop band condition of the transmission line been discussed. We distill the propagation constant from simulation results, the transmission characteristics and dispersion characteristics in balance line and non-balance line is analysed.

In this paper, we present the modeling of shielded three vertically coupled striplines and shielded four coupled microstrip lines embedded in a dielectric material media using finite element method (FEM). We specifically determine the capacitance per unit length of shielded three vertically coupled striplines and shielded four coupled microstrip lines embedded in a dielectric material. We compare our results with those obtained by method of lines (MoL) and found them to be in good agreement.

In this paper, -15 dB branch-line hybrid was realized. In the case of-15 dB coupling power, the characteristic impedances of transmission lines were 49.20 Omega and 276.689 Omega and it was discussed to realize the high characteristic impedance of 276.689 Omega using coupled transmission lines. Using the method suggested, the problem how to realize the high characteristic impedance of 90deg transmission lines will be solved.

This paper describes the mid-continent area power pool (MAPP) transmission equipment outage data collection scheme and presents bulk transmission line average outage statistics for forced outage category for the 230 kV and above systems computed using the data for the ten-year operating period from 1991 to 2000. In addition, a causal and seasonal contribution to forced outages of bulk transmission line is analyzed that helps to identify appropriate remedial actions to improve transmission line reliability. This paper presents selected applications of transmission line forced outage statistics by different MAPP member utilities.
