For an autopilot design of a slender vehicle, one of the most difficult problems is the effect of structure elasticity. It is concerning to an intercouple complex system of elastic-aerodynamic-control system. The present paper discusses the spectrum of aerodynamics-elasticity, the spectrum of gain feedback, the spectrum of compensator, the evolution equations, the critical stability (“Cock-mark” stability and direction stability), and the pole assignment.

Sophisticated numerical models are created nowadays for the continuous casting of steel, partly thanks to the rapid development of information technology. These models are based on the numerical solutions of nonlinear partial differential equations describing the dynamics of modelled phenomena. Such distributed parameter numerical models used as "software sensors" offer the possibility to control the secondary cooling process. However, in current engineering practice the control synthesis is solved by lumped parameter systems approach. Tins paper shows how to solve the control synthesis problem based on distributed parameter system approach, using widely available software products for numerical modelling of continuous casting of steel combined with algorithms for control of lumped and distributed parameter systems. In the process of continuous casting of steel the secondary cooling zone plays a crucial role in extraction of heat from the casting. In general, solidification processes in secondary cooling zone are described by nonlinear partial differential equations. Nowadays, these equations are being solved by numerical methods in various virtual casting environments. In systems and control theory, dynamical systems described by partial differential equations are considered as distributed parameter systems;for control purposes being conveniently formulated as lumped input and distributed output systems. The aim of this paper is to show new possibilities for control of temperature field in secondary cooling zone, utilizing the results of engineering control theory for distributed parameter systems. Basic dynamical characteristics are identified by means of distributed parameter step responses, generated in numerical casting software environment ProCAST. For the formulation of control tasks, dynamics of temperature field is decomposed into time and space components, respectively. Control synthesis in space is solved as an approximation problem whereas control synthesis in time is solved by lumped parameter systems theory. The proposed approach will be demonstrated in the temperature field control process of a continuously cast billet. Along with essential dynamical characteristics obtained in ProCAST, distributed parameter systems Blockset for MATLAB & Simulink will be utilized as well, providing an easy way to design, set up and simulate distributed parameter control loops.

Industrial induction heating represents the environmentally clean, contactless method of steel heating. Same time it has high energy consumption, so in recent years, more efficient modular topology of heaters were introduced. Due to its multiple power modules, there is a possibility to apply the distributed parameter system control theory. By the usage of COMSOL Multiphysics solution, the model in the form of lumped-input and distributed-parameter-output system has been built. The process control is performed on the relations between the coil currents fed into four separate modules of heating device and desired billet temperature profile.

This work presents an estimation scheme based on a kind of distributed parameter system (DPS) with time-varying delay via moving agent networks. Initially, by utilizing the evolutionary equation theory and the operator semigroup method, this delayed DPS described by partial differential equation (PDE) is derived for evolution equations. Then, a centralized state estimator has been constructed with the purpose of approximating the ordinal system state under limited sensors measurement, and the estimation error system is constructed simultaneously. Furthermore, the control forces of mobile agents are devised by choosing an appropriate Lyapunov functional candidate, which make the estimation error system stabilize globally and asymptotically. Finally, numerical experiment simulation tests in Matlab are employed to account for the usefulness of the state estimation policy.

In continuous casting, the secondary cooling zone plays a crucial role in solidification process in a casting strand. Improper cooling conditions may have a detrimental impact on stress distribution in solidified shell, leading to cracks and other casting defects. Careful design of operating regimes for secondary cooling zone requires the effect of spray zones on overall temperature field of the strand to be known, be it in steady or transient state. Transients, as the inherently dynamic phenomena, represent a considerable challenge for control due to natural nonlinearity of solidification, peculiar character of process time constants and, most importantly, stringent economics of the whole production process. In this paper, a feasibility study of online identification and adaptive control of secondary cooling zone of billet continuous caster as a distributed parameter system has been performed, the results being compared with traditional PI fixed control law in anti-windup scheme. For this purpose, ProCAST casting simulation environment served as a numerical model of the casting process whereas the DPS Blockset for MATLAB & Simulink provided blocks for control synthesis in MATLAB/Simulink control design environment. The actual control process ran in a cosimulation regime with both environments interchanging their data synchronously via tailor-made cosimulation block from DPS Blockset (the actual data being controlled and manipulated variables, respectively).

In the paper a problem of casting die preheating control is solved. Concept of the control is designed based on distributed parameters systems. The design of the control structures are created within simulation studies, afterwards are connected into co-simulation regime network to tune the control parameters and then applied to control of preheating using PLC.

This paper deals with the control of the preheating process of a casting mould formulated as a distributed parameter system and using a programmable logic controller (PLC). The control process is first optimized by a simulation procedure using a distributed parameter control loop. The temporal part of the control synthesis is implemented on the PLC in order to control the preheating of the casting mould. A controlled preheating process is demonstrated on the experimental casting mould with embedded sensors and actuators.

Pollution of groundwater requires appropriate technical solutions which can be deployed for remediation. For as much as the local groundwater contamination and its subsequent spread may result in contamination of drinking water resources or other disasters. This publication aims to design and demonstrate a model task of groundwater remediation process as distributed parameter system. The model problem consists of appropriately spaced soil region with water flow and transport of pollution which are modelled in the program MODFLOW and MT3DMS. Actuating quantities are generated by pumping wells. Control problem solution is supported by DPS Blockset for MATLAB & Simulink.

In the paper, a novel method for identification of distributed parameter system（DPS） with recurrent trajectory via deterministic learning is proposed. The system dynamics rather than the system parameters or system structure is identified,which is completely different from the existing literature. The DPS, which is often described by partial differential equation（PDE）, is first transformed into a set of ordinary differential equations（ODEs） by using a special case of finite difference method,method of lines. Then, the system dynamics at each discrete node is identified by using deterministic learning. Without loss of generality, the DPS dynamics at any spatial point in the spatial domain Ω can also be accurately identified by using the proposed method. It will be more appropriate for DPS identification in many physical systems whose both structure and parameters are unknown. Simulation results have shown the feasibility and efficient of the proposed method.
