The Rogowski Coil (RC) has air as core around which coil is wound. It works on the principle of Faraday's and Ampere's law. RC can be used to measure both high speed impulse and alternating currents. RC offers some very important properties like wide bandwidth, galvanic isolation, linearity, lightness and cheap. Presence of all these properties makes RC better than conventional current transducers. It also offers many other applications viz., energy management, protection systems, CT calibration, current sharing, resistance, welding process, measurement of partial discharges and earth resistance of transmission towers. It can measure currents ranging from mili-amperes (mA) to mega-amperes (MA) without any saturation. The construction and measurement conditions decide the application of RC. The eccentricity of coil is the main parameter considered for modelling of RC. The eccentricity effect becomes prominent when the conductor gets displaced away from the centre due to the deviation from circular shape. Change in conductor position affects the measurements done, so this analysis ensures the accuracy of RC. In this paper, eccentricity analysis of RC is done using ANSYS software tool. The observed deviation of mutual inductance during the analysis can be justified with the theoretical existing data.

The problem of measurements optimization for control of system with distributed parameters is discussed. An approach based on a modal representation of the plant with distributed parameters is considered. The limitations for the maximum permissible error of estimates of the controlled variables and for the time-averaged values of the used criteria of control quality are presented by a set of linear matrix inequalities of problem optimization of the sensor and control loads. Minimizing of the objective function associated with position and parameters of sensors is a subject to restrictions satisfies to minimal measurement costs and determines the required number, parameters and locations of sensors.

Considering the increasing number of electrified traction systems and changing technological advances in power electronics industry, it is required to successfully model electrified train systems. In this paper a DC catenary voltage model is proposed for a multi substation subway system. The proposed method is capable of simulating dynamic behavior of the train during different modes of operation. In this study, firstly, the electrical parameters of the system will be found to form distributed parameter model. In order to simplify analytic calculations, an approximate yet accurate solution method is proposed. Secondly, relations modeling voltage variation are linearized for improved computational performance. Finally, developed model is extended to multi substation case. Developed model is verified using real field data.

During withstand test of long cable on submarine and some special occasions, the increase of voltage at the end of the cable may endanger the insulation safety. This paper presented an analytical calculation formula for the voltage of long cable. Based on the basic distribution parameters theory of cable, we first established the cable equivalent circuit, then derived the cable transmission model and transmission matrix, and last obtained an analytical calculation formula for the voltage at the end of the cable. The accuracy of the formula is verified by simulation, and the frequency characteristic of withstand test is analyzed. The results of the simulation study show that when using the calculation formula, which can provide a reference for relevant personnel to judge whether the voltage at the end of the cable is within the safe range, so as to avoid the risk of insulation breakdown and ensure safety during the withstand test.

A new fault location algorithm based upon two end synchronized data for high voltage transmission line is proposed which considers arcing fault calculation. In this work least error square (LES) principal is used without considering the line parameters. The least error square principle is used on positive sequence equivalent circuit to calculate the fault distance from the reference bus. This algorithm is simple to understand and easy to implement. since it is independent of line parameter therefore it can be applied to both lumped and distributed transmission lines. This algorithm provide promising results against the variability in fault resistance on the account of two end data. PSCAD transient program is been used to create fault cases along with MATLAB, which calculate fault location. The results shows the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

The laser emitting circuit is an important part of laser range finders system, which of the characteristic directly affects the performance of laser range finders. To improve the measure distance, the ranging accuracy and atmospheric transport performance of laser ranging system, based on the analysis and measurement of the parasitic parameters about the tunnel junction multi-active region semiconductor lasers, and considering the distribution parameters by the influence of the drive circuit. By adopting PSPICE simulation software to analysis the electrical distributed parameters of the lasers and the external circuit, which how to affect the laser pulse rising edge and pulse width. On this basis, the optimized design of a narrow pulse drive source can be realized for semiconductor laser, and research the advantage and disadvantage on different arrangement packing of lasers. This paper achieves the goal which the rise time is 4ns and the peak power is 210W of the laser pulse.

A transmission line model with constant distributed parameters for the efficient simulation of diverse transients in power electric networks is proposed. The novelty of the model lies in its capability to simulate both natural waveforms as observed in reality and envelope waveforms that modulate AC carriers. To achieve the bridging between natural and envelope waveforms, the model processes analytic signals whose Fourier spectrums can be shifted. The shift frequency is introduced as a simulation parameter in addition to the time step size. Interpolation is used to obtain results when the wave propagation time between both ends of the line is not an integer multiple of the time step size of the simulation. The model is implemented in a nodal analysis based simulator and validated through the study of the energization of a transmission line.

The study is aimed at the optimal control design of longitudinal motions for a rectilinear elastic rod with free ends. Several piezoelectric actuators are attached along its axis. The control is carried out by piezoelectric normal force acting in the cross section. We assume that this force changes piecewise constantly in space, and the intervals of constancy have no gaps and are equal in length. Given an arbitrary initial state and periodic terminal conditions, the optimal control problem is to minimize the mean mechanical energy stored in the rod over a fixed time horizon. For a uniform rod, the minimal admissible horizon is found, and the exact optimal control law is presented. Copyright (C) 2022 The Authors.

Today's technology and trend for clean energy, made electrified traction systems more and more popular around the world. As number and capacities of those systems increase, electrical modeling of those systems became a must for power quality studies and dynamic distribution system analysis. However, those models have inaccuracies due to electrical parameters and high computational burden. This paper proposes a linearized DC catenary line model for real subway systems, which has a little computational burden. Moreover, the parameter approximations employed by the method provides more accurate results. The proposed method is validated using real measurement data.
