Information security involves many components, including communication security, computer security, physical security, and personnel security. This paper deals only with communication and computer security. In systems that involve either communications systems or monolithic computer systems (but not both) the overall requirements for information security are relatively straightforward, or at least relatively well understood. However, in distributed processing systems that usually involve both communications and computer components, there is a need for both communications as well as computer security techniques. This paper addresses communications security, computer security, and their relationship in information protection in the distributed processing environment.

An innovative cloud storage strategy for multiple base stations' real-time measurement information, proposed in this paper, is to achieve primary user's accurate statistics. The presented framework will give a macroscopic view of mass cognitive information processing in the cognitive radio networks by taking new distributed cognitive engine framework with Hadoop cluster multi-nodes and will also provide insight into future works of the revolutionary networks.

An approach toward an integrated information and communication model, which can be viewed as a special form of a model for open distributed applications, is outlined. Additionally, synchronization aspects of isochronous and anisochronous communication are outlined. The model is still under development. In order to construct effective CAD/CAM systems, it is very important to implement and to exploit graphic processing tools for man machine communication. Up to the present day, stand alone-type graphic display systems have been commonly used, but they are not necessarily suitable for constructing integrated CAD/CAM systems. On the other hand, some of CAD/CAM systems are using ter minals of a large scale host computer, but they can not satisfy our need for quick response and low cost/performance. So, we have developed a highly intelligent graphic terminal which has simple hardware structure and can be operated easily with quick response as a TSS terminal of a host computer. This paper describes software and hardware of the terminal, and furthermore an architecture of integrated CAD/CAM system using this terminal.

Substantial benefits, such as increased code reusability, simplified maintainability, and improved reliability can be attained through the proper use of object oriented languages. Often, languages which claim to offer concurrency and object oriented features have exhibited significant inadequacies which impose limitations on the benefits. In addition, it is evident that there is no existing standard used by the designers of these languages. The lack of this consistency presents difficulty for programmers who would like to take advantage of an object oriented approach to distributed processing. Therefore, we combine the requirements for object oriented programming with those for distributed processing. Several solutions which have been proposed in the literature for advertised problems in the combination of distributed processing and object oriented programming languages are discussed and evaluated with respect to the paradigm which we present. These solutions are used to extend an existing language (ABCL/R3) to demonstrate that these features are compatible.

State estimation is nowadays considered the fundamental element of modern electrical power network control centers. In this paper we develop a theoretically robust and computationally efficient state estimator algorithm, to solve the weighted least squares (WLS) problem by using parallel processing. The computational aspects of the parallel processing, was analyzed and tested using the IEEE 14, 57 and 118 bus systems. Computational experiments are compared with standard WLS methods, in the integral and distributed version. An evaluation of the degree of natural decoupling in the state estimation problem is also performed. The results indicate that a distributed processing for state estimation, is the better way to adopt parallel computing in power systems energy.

In this paper we present a new approach toward processing of multimedia documents. We use intelligence derived from media and processing dependencies and distribute the processing according to logical progression of the media processing tasks. To achieve this we devised a management strategy which takes as an input a user defined problem with pre-coded processing tools and maps to distributable tasks which have an associated resource requirements. At the last step of the processing, the available processing nodes, which vary in available resources, are matched to the processes. An example demonstrating the capabilities of this system is presented.

The personal computer is evolving from a purely personal device to one that can support multiple applications in different locations simultaneously. This paper describes how the connectivity and processing capability of the PC can be used in a distributed manner in the home to provide a variety of services like speech activated environmental command and control functions, digital video decoding, Internet telephony and entertainment control. As they are architected today, current PCs are challenged when trying to perform intensive signal processing tasks while managing several external connections (e.g. dial-up Internet) and multiple internal connections (e.g. cordless phone interface) at the same time. We describe some of these challenges, and what remains to be done to make the PC more capable in undertaking such a multifunctional challenge.
